If Republicans find this so egregious, they are free to change the rules back when they do return to the Senate majority. We'll have to remind them of that when they do.

Ghal needs to change his tag to "PD junior".

I kid because I love, Ghal. <3

Love this from DailyKos:

Make it so!!!

Exactly. Fuck everything else and ram all that shit through. Give Republicans something to REALLY bitch about.

Haven't been in this thread for a while. Just wanted to drop by and say thank god that they went through with it and got rid of the filibuster.

I only hope that no one tries to put it back in if things start to look bad for dems in the senate. Obstructionism sucks.

Why are they pushing Rubio of all people? Dude has no charisma and no accomplishments to make him stand out.

Ok, so his parents have some experience with immigration, but he still seems like a white guy with a white guy accent to me. Does he really poll any better than other republicans among minorities? I always thought minorities prefer minorities in elections because they best understand what discrimination is like in modern day US, but it's hard to imagine Rubio being unfairly profiled on a day to day basis.

@brianbeutler: So weird to read this sentence like we're a democracy or something RT @AJentleson Coda: Cloture was invoked on the Millett nomination 55-43.

Like I said in the other thread, even if Obama doesn't end up nominating judges to fill up all the vacancies, he should use that as a threat to get Republicans to play ball on some things.

Are federal judges appointed for life?

@sahilkapur: McConnell challenger @MattBevin stmt: "Mitch McConnell failed as a leader in this fight to stop the blatant disregard for the rules."

So the Dow closed above 16,000... I'm pleasantly surprised to see how well the #WorstSocialistEver hashtag is doing...

Did that yesterday as I recall. Worst socialist ever indeed. And I thought this year (or the end of last year) we had just hit 13,000 for the first time.

Some of the companies listed on the DJIA were switched up too. Nike is on there now.

Alternate Headline: President Romney has led the market to getting the DOW over 16,000 roaring back from the Obama economy.

Another thing I keep forgetting to post is that when I saw James Carville on Monday he started making the argument that we should stop worrying about paying off our debt and entitlement reforms and start worrying about fixing our broken infrastructure among other things.

But what most surprised me was just how positive the reaction was from the audience, it probably got the biggest cheers of the night from something that wasn't a joke.

I like to think I played a part in this. PoliGAF too.

I'm taking credit

@BradThor, Do you mean again as in after they tried it the first time against African Americans following the Civil War?

I don't get the talking point that the Dems will regret this when the GOP gets the majority again (if they even do). The GOP was going to do this anyway. The Dems just finally decided to beat them to the punch. Neutering the filibuster was going to happened eventually due it its gross abuse and ease of use.

Do you think the GOP would tolerate it this long if the Dems abuses the filibuster as much as they did if they are in the majority and there was a President Walker/Christie/Rubio in the WH? Hell no. They would've neutered it and much, much sooner than the Dems did.
