Slightly diablosing about Michigan

Was there actually a boost in rural white turnout or is that just a meme?

uhhhh...wouldn't that void your vote?

In San Diego County, if the machine rejects your ballot due to a procedural issue, it gets sent to a team of people that make corrections if it is 100% clear who the person wanted to vote for.

(For example, if they used a sharpie and it bled over to the back of the ballot). If their state has the same procedure, this would probably qualify.

I saw a Trump sign in my town

I guess MA is going Trump!!!!!!

Awesome!

Sidenote: I have been textbanking at one of the campaign offices here in LA and it's always packed. I tried to go back over the weekend and yesterday and there was a line out the door and a long wait list TO VOLUNTEER. People were sitting on the sidewalk phonebanking because the office was too full. Yes, this is in ultra-blue Los Angeles, but I've been consistently seeing posts from friends volunteering in Ohio, PA, NYC that their offices are packed and that there's a wait to volunteer.

I'm fired up!

Also, giant heart eyes to PoliGAF for helping me stay sane throughout the election.

That's good. In 2008 the Obama team was talking about "negative flake rate".

Campaign planners expect a flake rate among those who promise to volunteer. In other words, they expect a certain percentage of people to flake out and not show up. This past weekend, the Obama campaign experienced the opposite: they got a negative flake rate. They got more volunteers showing up than they had planned for.

I hope they are seeing the same today.

I have gotten roughly 10 texts from Hillary folk in the last day or so for me to get out and vote, 7 of them have been from PA where I was registered to vote in 2012 and the other 3 have been from Mississippi where I am registered now. It's kind of annoying at this point, but it is encouraging to me that they are so persistent.

Did you tell any of them that you have voted? They'll take you off the list at that point.

interesting. I would have just assumed it would look like 2 selections under a choice where it says to 'choose no more than 1 of the following' or something thus invalidating it. But if it is for a manual rejection check later, that makes some sense.

Can people please quote or at least paraphrase tweets they link? Am in the office for now, and while I can access this site, Twitter is blocked.

Thanks!

so he voted for hillary then

Right, otherwise it'd say MAKE THE WHITE HOUSE ORANGE FOR THE FIRST TIME

In another note, I'm saddened at how my favorite color has been reduced so far due to this election.

I'll have to work on MAKING ORANGE GREAT AGAIN

Why is Votecastr garbage?

Vice (I believe) was promoting them earlier. They seemed pretty reliable, if only because of the large sample sizes.

They're tracking a candidate that isn't on the ballot in Nevada. Also widely respected experts in certain states have called bullshit on their numbers. It's also openly experimental.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
They're already voting republican. They didn't vote for the black president twice then decide nah. gotta go republican

I think you vastly underestimate the Midwestern mindset of "I'm not letting a woman lead me." Seriously--this is easily the most understated aspect of this campaign. I never saw anyone do a writeup on this topic. It is a huge issue in the Midwest.

It's just that interpreting exit polling and early returns requires a deep knowledge of the voting trends of various precincts to be useful.

Its basically near real-time exit polling data. Even complete exit polling isn't useful for for predicting totals, just analyzing the breakdown of who voted. We've repeatedly seen this. So votecaster is using incomplete, unreliable data.
