Yglesias pointed out something important- the moderate Ds who made passing Obama a nightmare the first time? They're all gone.

If we get control, this is not going to be a bill that's squeaking by.
My hope is that the overall law of ACA more or less survives Trump's presidency (or at least the first two years, as long as Democrats win at least one chamber in Congress) and in 2020 we elect a Dem president and Congress that can pass improvements to Obamacare via reconciliation.

Then Ginsburg, Kennedy and Breyer retire in that order.

That's some fanfiction right there

At this rate I just hope the ACA survives and Trump is a one term Pres

I basically consider the SCOTUS gone

our best hope for SCOTUS is Trump literally only gets the Scalia seat and that's it, no real net gain or loss. Or he gets impeached and Pence has to nominate a more moderate conservative.

I think even the conservatives on the court would have to be worried with who Trump would put in behind them if they strategically retired.

Trump moved far to the right on health care and now wants the Medicaid expansion repealed before the 2018 midterms.

.... But why.

Because Trump is a goddamn political idiot.

Even if he gets more seats, hopefully they're the conservatives. Even Trump can't do much worse than Thomas.

Wikileaks is indicating that the CIA did the DNC and Podesta hack as a false flag and Donald Trump Jr. retweeted this fucking absurd and nuts theory.

A poster here mentioned awhile back that Trump would tweet about that. He is too predictable.

Edit: Just noticed it was Jr. and not Easy D.

The Medicaid expansion was one of the few reasonable things in this bill at least from a right leaning perspective. Killing that during a midterm year writes the attack ads

On my way to work today I was listening to Hannity interview Ryan about the health care bill and Republicans' lack of agreement on it. In respense to a suggestion that Ryan should host some kind of public discussion on Hannity, Ryan dodged, and Hannity said something like "you have us, you can do or say whatever you want." Nice to have that kind of admission, even though it was by accident. If only I had the transcript, I'd like to confirm the exact wording. My memory of it has faded a bit in the 5 hours since.

This has to be the dumbest theory of them all. They despise Trump but still helped him become President against Clinton so they could undermine him after he won.

All being said, part of a politician is knowing when to kick a can down a road, or feed meat to your constituents in speeches but kill or soften a bill in committee. You can't be a literalist in politics and survive.

Then they put a literalist in the White House and now he wants to spend all of his political capital before their butts even make imprints in their seats.

Park Geun-hye impeached.

don't have massive corruption scandals with your psychic!!

Great example of a democratic country where a free press and massive peaceful protests brought down a corrupt president. Constitutional court was unanimous 8-0 for upholding impeachment. It truly is an inspiring turn of events.

They were going to kill it in a Presidential year instead. None of it made any sense. 2019, sure, 2021, definitely. 2018 and 2020?

I don't know if Rasputin has stolen $230m from the US government.

On 28 October, Park dismissed key members of her top office staff while her approval ratings fell to 4%.[99] Her approval rating ranged from 1 to 3% for Korean citizens under 60 years of age, while it remained higher, at 13%, for the over 60 age group.[130] It was the worst ever approval rate in Korean history

I wish this would happen in the US. We're so polarized, Trump could literally shoot one of his own supporters at a rally and he'd maybe drop below 30.

Mark Simone has an incredibly smooth voice. It's impressive because he's not like a usual ranting lunatic right wing radio host so you get lulled into a sense that maybe he's not terrible, and then he says something stupid and you snap out of it.

It's fucked up how needlessly cruel Rasputin 2.0 was.

She seemed to get her kicks from humiliating Park (who she had control over due to Park thinking Rasputin could communicate with her dead mother).

Think I'm going to be fucking sick.

http://foreignpolicy.com/2017/03/09...emen-signals-more-aggressive-use-of-military/

After a week of punishing airstrikes loosed on al Qaeda in Yemen that saw 40 targets go up in flames and smoke, American pilots took a breather the past two nights, watching the dust settle.

The weeklong blitz in Yemen eclipsed the annual bombing total for any year during Obama’s presidency. Under the previous administration, approval for strikes came only after slow-moving policy discussions, with senior officials required to sign off on any action. The Trump administration has proven much quicker at green-lighting attacks

I still don't understand how this conspiracy's logic works internally. The CIA hacks the DNC and Podesta and reveals stuff that weakens Trump's rival, just so that they can get Trump elected and then blame the hacks on the Russians to impeach Trump and put the presumably more anti-Russian Pence in office? But why would do that if Hillary is the great anti-Russian warmonger? Why sabotage her campaign at all and not, say, plant child porn on Trump's phone or something?

And why would the (((globalists))) want to reveal their sensitive emails that let the vigilant citizens know about pizza shop child abuse?

The point of this CIA conspiracy is not to make sense.

The point is to muddy the waters as much possible. To muddy the waters so much that, to the passerby who's not following all this crap daily, NOTHING makes sense and so it all must be bullshit.

The only people who still buy into Wikileaks are hardcore Trump people, whatever power they have to muddy the waters on a national level is small I think.

It's the strategy that won them the election.

I do agree that it's not as effective now, but it's still their strategy.

But Democrats need to stop looking for the logic in the illogical. We end up supplying the right's defense for them when we do that.

This shit doesn't make sense. It's just more noise to distract.

Not that any more proof was needed that Wikileaks is a malicious Russian agency and not virtuous whistleblowers who are only cooperating with Russia out of necessity.
