Hi gaf, where do you guys go for your opposing viewpoints on political discussions and topics? I believe it's important to empower oneself with the rival faction's point of view to more coherently construct a counter argument. The best thing I could find to shed light on what trump supporters think is the AskTrumpSupporters subreddit, which is generally pretty civil, thankfully. I don't agree with them, but I at least see where they are coming from. Do you guys have any other news sources that accomplish a similar thing to avoid this new era of tunnel vision and echo chambers?

statist trash

in all honesty, you probably want something like http://www.theamericanconservative.com/ or https://www.chroniclesmagazine.org/ or http://takimag.com/ or http://www.toqonline.com/ to "get inside a trump supporters head" on a semi-intellectual level rather than just daily news reaction like breitbart would have

So today I went to the Fox News facebook page where the live feed of the White House... whatever you call it was streaming and just... read everything.

I mean at first I listened to what was going on, but it was basically just Spicer deflecting every fucking questions, so I turned my attention to the comments.

This was mainly in an attempt to learn about the way that the other side thinks and trying to understand why they would be in favor of the AHCA.

What I found was:

Most of these people don't understand how insurance works

None of them even understood what the ACA did in the first place

None of them care because they have to pay more money.

.... what the fuck do I do with this information?

I straight up tried to address individual people in the cacophany of comments and where they were at fault as an attempt to wake them up. I wasn't derogatory by any means, and was really open minded about the whole thing, but ultimately I think I was just spinning my wheels.

Satan smiles today in the twin cities. Is your mother proud Minnesota?

every time I see people on the right ranting about seeing leftists everywhere, or Clinton/Obama/Democrats/etc. all being radical socialists, I get really sad since it's never actually true :(

I'm just imagining someone with the bold inspiration and emotion of an Obama, but actually backing it up with bold and inspirational policies, rather than "we must preserve the sanctity of bipartisanship and use these formulas to calculate whether you receive a subsidy to pay for the bold engine of innovative free market solutions")

other than Minnesota's just general state of moral degradation
i just clicked the first non-trump story on breitbart:
http://www.breitbart.com/tech/2017/...and-queen-in-favor-of-genderless-alternative/
Administrators at the University of Minnesota have dropped the traditional ”King and Queen" labels for their annual homecoming weekend for the genderless ”royals" term.

Officials at the University of Minnesota have also announced that the biological sex of the winners is irrelevant. The newly crowned ”royals" at the university's next homecoming event ”can be any combination of any gender identity."

Homecoming this year at the University of Minnesota will be held October 15-21. Recentl students have been invited to apply to be crowned a royal for the 2017 event.

”This change allows the University to select the best student representatives for the U of M based on campus and community involvement — regardless of gender," the Homecoming website states.

According to the website, the title of ”royal" will be awarded to two students ”who respectfully represents the University's values, connects with the diverse members of the University community, and has excellent school pride."

i found some decent comments to use, from the article in the german anti-free-speech thread

#tony, you’ve hit the nail on the head. True hate speech doesn’t really exist amongst polite people but Muslim hate speech is everywhere ….. or is that called religious expression? Flabby law like this I’ll only be used to stop opinions they the soft left don’t like, anyone who will fight back, like having a Muslim riot, they will be left alone for social cohesion

The Koran is hate speech. Fine everyone who reads it!

Well, if its any indication, this will only improve the chances “Magda” Merkel’s propaganda party gets defeated in the next election. Burn what books you can before the Reichstag falls.

Everyone should play NieR:Automata. After 30 hours and multiple endings in a robot-run futuristic hellscape full of ethical and moral quandaries and exploring the potential unintended consequences of AI you'll feel sooooooo much better about US politics.

This got one mention earlier, but I wanted to echo it--Trump wouldn't have watched Maddow unless he thought something major was going to go down. The full taxes are out there, somewhere, and he knows it.

How can a place simultaneously turn into a Scandinavian leftist wonderland like Sweden and an Islamic theocracy run by refugees? Damn, make up your minds crazy twitter people. This is just throwing scary words together to make you feel better about your own country.

I'm about 6-7 hours in, and I love it. It's absolutely not the kind of game I normally play (I'm not much for hack and slash action games or even really JRPG's, and definitely not twin-stick shooters) but it offers so much and does it better than any other game I've played recently. I have the next 2 days off work and I plan on sinking quite a bit of time into it.

Because you were spinning your wheels.

... what the fuck do I do with this information?

Nothing really. Just sit tight, and laugh when in a discussion 2 weeks from now, some high and mighty poster tells you that the solution to things is reasoned discourse with the people you just tried to get through too.

First of all, this thread is very much the place for such posts, welcome to poligaf.
As to your question, while I'm all for engaging people with different point of views, I don't think that comments on the Fox News facebook page is the most productive way to go about this.

If you enjoy the discussion/arguments then by all means, go for it, but if it's something that frustrate you, just find other avenues for that. I don't think you're very likely to win a whole lot of hearts and minds there.

Same way Obama can be a communist and a Nazi. Same way he can be a Muslim and also pushing the Jewish conspiracy.

Snoop Dogg's new video shows him shooting a Trump clown, Trump is arguing that if he had done the same thing with Obama in his place he'd be in jail now.

It's a criticism of the racist justice system Obama presided over that electing Trump has fixed.

SnoopDoggTrumpBangGun-640x480.jpg

In the video's climactic scene, Snoop Dogg pulls out a fake gun and aims it at Parody Trump. Though it may be controversial to some critics, the hip-hop legend says he's not looking for any response from America or Trump himself for the video.

"When I be putting shit out, I don't ever expect or look for a reaction. I just put it out because I feel like it's something that's missing. Any time I drop something, I'm trying to fill in a void," he says. "I feel like it's a lot of people making cool records, having fun, partying, but nobody's dealing with the real issue with this f--king clown as president, and the shit that we dealing with out here, so I wanted to take time out to push pause on a party record and make one of these records for the time being."

Wellens adds that he's proud of what he and Snoop were able to accomplish. "When I watch it against other music videos, this one has a message and a story. It looks like a film. I'm just proud of the entire piece altogether."
