I am not sure if Tillerson -> Pompeo would be an upgrade at State ideologically speaking, but it might be worth it just to have a credible, functional Secretary of State again.

I don't understand how Trump is back near 40% on the Gallup Daily tracker. What exactly has he done in the last 5 days that have fringe independents coming back to him?

1) Mostly I think it’s the disapproval washing out from that time he openly sided with white supremacists

2) Judging from my Facebook Trump-o-meter, enough people got REALLY hopped up about the NFL thing.

I'm getting a TV ad from the DCCC about how Paul Ryan and the GOP are fucking with healthcare. A good ad but..........isn't it a year too early?

What's the principle difference between GOP and Democratic advertising?

GOP goes all year long. Every single day Fox is on the air is another day of 24 hour political advertising for the Republicans. We need to be visible in non-election years, and since we don't have a cable news empire to shill for us, buying ads all year long is a good play.

Not like we're hurting for money right now anyway.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!

It's tragic how easy to manipulate these people are. I work with a dude who was still making a big deal about it yesterday. You'll never hear him talking about complex issues that actually matter, but give him a reason to make a villain out of someone and he's on that shit for days.

So it seems Northam's internals have it pretty much tied :-/

https://amp.thedailybeast.com/democrats-grow-panicked-that-they-could-blow-the-years-biggest-race

In 2017, there are two such elections: the governors’ races in New Jersey and Virginia. While the former appears to be a drama-free cakewalk for Democrats, the latter is—perhaps unexpectedly—quite close. A Washington Post poll released on Thursday had Northam up by 13 points over Gillespie. But three Democratic sources have told The Daily Beast that Northam’s internal campaign polling has the race within the margin of error, and not at the outer edges of that range.

Uggggh

Some people suggest Northam’s campaign has been seeding these pessimistic stories because they’re worried about the overall lack of excitement, and want to put a fire under progressive asses. I don’t know how much stock I’m putting into this idea, but I feel like Trump going in on Northam and Gillespie’s blatant race baiting is going to backfire hard. It’s Virginia. If all the Republicans want to do here is restage Trump vs Clinton then fine, give Northam a D legislature too.

While groups like League of Conservation Voters, Everytown for Gun Safety, NextGen America, DailyKos, and Planned Parenthood are all pouring money into the race or fundraising on Northam’s behalf, Our Revolution, the progressive political action organization birthed from Senator Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign, has stayed notable silent. The organization endorsed Northam’s opponent, former Rep. Tom Perriello, during their primary. And then, as one operative put it, they “went completely dark.”

Diane May, a spokesperson for Our Revolution, told The Daily Beast that they had not endorsed Northam because a request to do so had not been made. "All of our endorsements are based on the recommendation of the local groups and he was not submitted for an endorsement," she emailed.

hmm.

I find Northam an interesting case study in ideology vs. personality and how the latter seems to heavily drive public perception of the former. Northam has staked out some pretty hard left positions over the course of the campaign, but he’s kind of boring so he’s often perceived as being a centrist or moderate.

Maybe, but I think the fact they seem to think the race is pretty much tied is reason to panic and do everything we can to put Northam over the finish line.

He shouldn't need it though.

He already did - he just cherry picked that the unemployment rate was down and ignored the job numbers.
This is probably the right way to approach it. The wrong thing would have been to acknowledge and blame someone other than weather.

It doesn't exactly help he voted for Bush twice.

People suggesting this are stupid. If Northam looks like he'll lose what should be an easy fight, people will feel even more dispirited about him and not bother turning up for such a bad candidate. People are driven by passion more than they are situation minimaxing. It's the same reason that the Democratic fundraiser emails are dreadful and not fit for purpose, they just bum people out.

Man if you’ve played the KH games it’s pretty easy to follow.

Like yes when you condense a 20 hour plot-heavy game into a 5 minute sparknotes it seems a little confusing.

Problem is with how many people only played the first two and ignored the spin-offs (which are all very much canon). I really hope S-E recognizes how common this was and addresses it in 3 somehow.
