Can't wait to see the new Fey skit.

Also, McCain's Fortnight of Fail Continues!

Newsweek said:
A Freddie Mac Money Trail Catches Up With McCain

The McCain campaign told reporters the fees were irrelevant because Davis "separated from his consulting firm … in 2006," according to the campaign's Web site, and he stopped drawing a salary from it. In fact, however, when Davis joined the campaign in January 2007, he asked that his $20,000-a-month salary be paid directly to Davis Manafort, two sources who asked not to be identified discussing internal campaign business told NEWSWEEK. Federal campaign records show the McCain campaign paid Davis Manafort $90,000 through July 2007, when a cash crunch prompted Davis and other top campaign officials to forgo their salaries and work as volunteers. Separately, another entity created and partly owned by Davis—an Internet firm called 3eDC, whose address was the same office building as Davis Manafort's—received payments from the McCain campaign for Web services, collecting $971,860 through March 2008.

In an e-mail to NEWSWEEK, a senior McCain official said that when the campaign began last year, it signed a contract with Davis Manafort "in which we purchased all of [Davis's] time, and he agreed not to work for any other clients." The official also said that though Davis was an "investor" in 3eDC, Davis has received no salary from it. As to why Davis permitted the Freddie Mac payments to continue, the official referred NEWSWEEK to Davis Manafort, which did not respond to repeated phone calls. One senior McCain adviser said the entire flap could have been avoided if the campaign had resisted attacking Barack Obama for his ties to two former Fannie Mae executives, which prompted the media to take a second look at Davis. "It was stupid," the adviser said. "A serious miscalculation and an amateurish move." Still, this adviser said, McCain's faith in his campaign manager remains unswerving.

And it wouldn't be a bad night for McCain without his trusty sidekick getting in further trouble.

Palin Contradicts McCain On Pakistan, Seems To Back Obama’s Position

(PHILADELPHIA) Sarah Palin told a customer at a Philadelphia restaurant on Saturday that the United States should “absolutely” launch cross-border attacks from Afghanistan into Pakistan in the event that it becomes necessary to “stop the terrorists from coming any further in,” a comment similar to the one John McCain condemned Barack Obama for making during last night’s presidential debate.

Wow. If she has to play by the same rules as Fiorina, Palin's going to be missing by the end of next week.

I almost feel sorry for John McCain. Almost.

First tragedy, then farce.
Yeah,

the debate sketch kinda fell flat.

There was some funny stuff in there, but for the most part they ignored what happened in the debate. Maybe because it was a late debate on Friday they had alot of stock bits so the didnt have to know what happened in the actual debate.

McCain's campaign could fake a kidnapping! That's the perfect excuse to not have a debate! Plus the sympathy vote will go through the roof.

And then she'll return a week before the election, placing blame on some Puerto Rican guy.

You know, I saw the NYTimes piece about McCain's ties to gambling lobbies already posted, but you have to see their graph to do it justice.

Kidnapped by Al Qaeda! IT WORKS ON SO MANY LEVELS! She can be rescued the week before the election.

Or, she could just beat Joe Biden at the debate.

Which is what I think she's going to do.

Yes, that is exactly what is going to happen.

Exactly. :lol

Did we ever find out what this guys real account is?

What exactly is she going to use to beat him with?
Umm... her debating skills. Sure, she hasn't wowed us up to this point. However, she's going to take what she's learned from her three interviews thus far and really drive it home during the debates. She knows what's at stake.

What has she learned though?

She still seems to be trying to regurgitate coached answers with no success.

If McCain loses this election, it'll mostly be his fault

- Going too negative too soon and letting the media form a narrative
- Picking Palin with the mis-guided idea that they could draw liberal females. With Romney or Pawlenty, he might be leading now
- Hypocritical attacks on Obama that came back to bite him HARD
- The "suspension" stunt

Anything else?

No, she'll do great. Any schmuck can answer a question, but it takes a special kind of lady to respond and leave the answer out! MAVERICK!

A consistent, undeniable pattern of flat-out lying certainly hasn't helped.

The things that you say. It's confusing. Are you joke posting? Using sarcasm to point out how silly a lot of neo-con pundits sound when they try to defend indefensible positions their candidates make?

Palin says "hi"

PALIN: That's why I say I, like every American I'm speaking with, were ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the taxpayers looking to bail out. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health-care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, helping the—it's got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health-care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans. And trade, we've got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive, scary thing. But one in five jobs being created in the trade sector today, we've got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that.

i honestly dont think she "knows" whats at stake in much. read that and tell me it makes sense. try to say it makes sense. just try.

she has to go from that, to, one week later, being able to actually debate someone who does know things. she can take all she wants from her interviews and learn from them, but you cant go from that answer right there, and one week later be able to debate on national TV Joe Biden on all the issues that she'll be Q'd on.

so no. she may know what's at stake metaphorically for the campaign, but that wont help her much in a week. you can know that failing your cal3 test tomorrow will fuck you in the class, but that wont help you pass it. you have to, well, learn the material, which, as that answer CLEARLY SHOWS, she hasn't. not by a long shot. and she's been trying for weeks, and has less than a week left.

Ditching Letterman?

Edit: Not looking Obama in the eye and other general grumpy old man stuff during the debate.

If you guys look at footage from her old debates you'll find she is actually very good at debates.

However, the problem is in her early debates she comes of as a crazed christian and she was dealing small picture issues related to Alaska (ie, you don't have to understand the entire economy to answer them). I think the main two reasons why she has been coming off as bad is because she has been trying to turn down her crazed christian self and is trying to answer questions outside her comfort zone.

Basically, what I'm saying is there is a chance she could do very well at the debate, she has done well in the past. It's not cut and dry.

It could be that.

Or, is it so hard for you guys to believe that there is someone who thinks that she just might be a capable politician? Is that so much of a leap for you guys?

A well placed smiley might make my position more clear, but this is more fun.

If by "leap" you mean jumping across the Grand Canyon with cinderblocks tied to your feet, then yes.

Of course not. I'm sure if you get really, really drunk, she'll make a lot of sense.
