EDIT: Oh, and Rob, that article was shit.

I remember reading somewhere tho about how a lot of examples people use about how Beyonce is a feminist are actually her pushing herself and her brand above other women
Don't kill me tho I only read it once not saying I agree

So...did Nicki just put her era on pause or something?

It's like...she dropped Anaconda, performed it a few times...then disappeared.

I've actually warmed up to Anaconda since I put it on my workout playlist.

Beach House's discography isn't that good tbh. Each album has some standout tracks and that's it.

Although I appreciate Vitanimus' post, I'd have to co-sign this comment. There are some great good songs on every album, but that's it IMHO.

This is Roy here. Beyonce could say the sun is yellow and he'd have a problem with it.

Beyonce's been big on "girl power" from way back. From Independent Women, to insisting on having an all female band, to Run the World etc. Folk seem to think that since she embraces being a wife and mother, that that somehow diminishes her stance on womens issues. Or that since she dares to show her body (which she stated was to show women that they can get their body back after having a baby), and sing about sex (with/to her husband mind you), that she's somehow different from any of the women Roy mentioned. Didn't Madonna release a "pornographic" coffee table book? I don't recall any woman power anthems... Express Yourself... maybe? Wasn't Janet always singing about getting dicked down? Sometimes right along side social commentary? Christina was singing about dudes putting icing on her cake and singing about dudes not holding her down. Wasn't TLC's first single about them being unashamed to beg for sex? If them hoes (in the colloquial sense) are Feminists, so is Bey. Roy can stay bewitched, bothered and bewildered with his crabs in a barrel mentality.

I really need to read up on this because I never knew about the separate issues that individual groups of women face with different subsets feminism until recently. There's a lot more to digest, especially with how perceived sexuality has a different power and meaning with how closely it ties in with race, American standards of beauty, and inner-dialogue that happens between feminists on each side. So much to learn.

Tokio Hotel - Love Who Loves You Back (audio)

Well, damn, I can't stop listening to this ;_; Sounds like Kavinsky's stuff a bit.

I'm ignoring the other singles, tho. Those were trash.
I forgot to comment on this. I want to like it. I think it's obvious why they chose that section of the song as the teaser clip because I think it's the best part of it. It has a very 80's-movie-theme feel to it that I like. I'll have to give it a few listens before I decide if I can use.

Exactly, the pre-chorus is the best part of the song, I agree. My biggest gripe would be the somewhat silly lyrics, but since the song sounds so good, I can let it slide :)

god she's so annoying. I can't wait for the C2C to flop so she can stop pretending like jazz is her REAL calling or something

She will flop and she will blame someone else for her failing. You should know the routine already tbh.

Poor Tony doesn't know what he's in for.

She couldn't achieve her true potential on Jazz because she had to drag Tony's corpse around. He ruined her chances at fulfilling her true passion and now she hates Pop and Jazz music. She will tackle Gospel music next and on the way shade Katy Hudson.

Gaga's flop attempt at Jazz made me go back to an actual good Jazz-y album tho

I only use Disc 2 tbh. But that disc was REALLY GOOD.

An example of a Pop Queen going Jazzy done RIGHT.

Although I always preferred disc 1 overall. :(

I am as vain as I allow
I do my hair, I gloss my eyes
I touch myself all through the night
And when something falls out of place
I take my time, I put it back
I touch myself till I'm on track

Just give in, don't give up, baby
Open up your heart and your mind to me
Just know when that glass is empty
That the world is gonna bend, yeah

Will Gaga ever speak to my soul like this again? I'm truly gagging.

So what do you make of someone like Beyonce? She recently performed on the MTV Video Music Awards and proclaimed herself a "feminist" during her set.

I would call that "feminist lite." L-I-T-E. I'm sorry. It's tokenistic to me. I mean, I think she's a phenomenal artist - I just love her performances - but I'd like to sit down (with her). I think I'd like to sit down with quite a few artists and talk to them. I'd like to listen to them; I'd like to hear what they truly think.

I see a lot of it as them taking the word hostage and using it to promote themselves, but I don't think they necessarily represent wholeheartedly the depths of feminism - no, I don't. I think for many it's very convenient and it looks great and it looks radical, but I have some issues with it. I have issues with it. Of course I do. I think it's a cheap shot. I think what they do with it is cheap and ... yeah. What can I tell you? Sex always sell. And there's nothing wrong with sex selling, but it depends on your audience. If they're 7-year-old kids, I have issues with it.

I mean not to be cliche but where is the lie

Thanks to everyone who voted so far, but we're still at a pretty low turnout! Only a handful of votes can tip the scale so don't sit this one out! Voting is as simple as writing in either "Madonna" or "Charli" in a PM to me. Do it right now sis, whycome you waitin' for?

On that note, here's the distribution so far:

Keep sending in those votes! So far this is too close to call, so if you are partial to either Madonna or Charli make sure to leave your mark on the competition. Thanks! :)

Really minor pick with Bang Bang, but 3:30 where she says "hit the ground," I really wish she did a key change on that part. I think it would have elevated it just a bit, but I think it's a good vocal.

I think Annie Lennox just helped to guarantee that Beyonce will not win the loser's bracket.

LOL - she's almost making this too easy for me...
