Channel Orange is a much more personal and heartfelt album.

Forrest Gump still gets to me. So deeply emotional and relatable.

Eh, still heads and shoulders above most of the R&B drudge released this year.

What is your TOP 10 R&B this year? I haven't been paying much attention to the genre lately and I feel like exploring.

Perhaps ROBIDO should get his dick off tumblr for a quick second and also do a TOP 10 R&B.

I don't play songs from Devotion either and that's on the top of my albums list this year.

Well, the difference between Devotion and Channel Whorange is that Devotion is actually a good album. Where as Channel Orange love is a fad.

I liked Channel Orange the first listen... and then I tried to listen again and it felt like a complete snooze fest tbh. Looking back I'm actually surprised at all the hype.. even my least favorite mixtape by the Weeknd is more interesting to me to listen.

The only song that I can marginally tolerate on Channel ORANGE is Thinkin' Bout You.

I haven't given everything else a listen simply because I'm afraid of the dosage of melatonin it will give me. I'm open to listening to it in full one day though, but Miguel has been keeping my attention in regards to R&B at the moment. I've never really found Frank's music to be profound, honestly.

Santigold always gets paid dust by critics despite her material always delivering.

It's sad, Master of My Make Believe is one of my favorite albums. Disparate Youth is probably one of the best songs released this year. Surprised that it hasn't been given a nod or two but that's awards show noms for you!

I haven't even listened to Miguel's new album yet, but the first single I heard I liked way more than anything on Channel Orange. I have it bookmarked to listen to the whole thing. Should get around to it -_-

Yeah, that's so weird. Her first album seemed to make a few year end lists and I thought this one was better too. And the first one was already amazing to me. The first one I remember a few sites like Pitchfork giving it a low score and then putting it at the top of their end of the year lists anyway. I wonder if she gets bothered by it.

That's good to know! You should post your list in the AOTY thread, she needs more love there! I saw you post on Kindred and it's one of my favorite EPs of the year too, but there were so many good EPs this year was hard to pick. A lot of the later albums are on my mind more so it has a lot of impact.

I went through the iTunes snippets of The Weeknd's album and I wasn't particularly impressed, though a full listen is required. I did like a lot that one song of his iTunes gave away for free once, Twenty-Eight.

Thanks for the descriptions. I'll check them out in the morning. Didn't know Two Fingers was Amon Tobin, he's definitely very talented. I wanted to see him with Holy Other this year, but none of my friends are into the same music and didn't feel like going by myself.
