It's gonna bi hilarious if in the Sony indeed gets 5 megatons

If he walks on stage carrying a Tron disc, Gaf would explode.
Yes it would.
Kaz was the main focus of the clip. Easter eggs are subtle things that are easy to miss or don't seem important in the moment. Plus, I don't think Kaz on stage would be that huge of a deal in itself.
That's certainly logical, but I like my logic better :P
What was the last E3 Kaz was on stage and what games were announced during that?
I don't know...

I'm betting this leak will same method the last guardian's leaked. E.g. the first leak is not same as real official one.

So the best way to generate that hype is to 'leak' terrible quality footage less than 10 days before you're actually going to officially announce it? You really don't think these same people hyped right now wouldn't also be hyped if it was announced without any knowledge at E3? It's still going to be a big announcement and nice to get confirmation, but if none of this had leaked it would have been a huge moment for a lot of people here. Now that we know it's coming the impact of the official announcement will be dampened. Why the fuck would Sony/From intentionally want that? That's nonsensical; dumb.

Here's what EmCeeGramr's said about some of this earlier in this thread:

So yeah, while they could have articulated it better, I agree with NoMoreTrolls. This whole obsession with claiming everything is a 'controlled leak' is stupid and is getting bloody annoying.

They might want that because one of the goals of marketing is to get people talking about your product for as long as possible. GAF, Twitter insiders and news outlets have been doing just that for quite a while now. I've never said that everything is a controlled leak, just that I think this particular case may be an example of one. Your assertion that the quality of the video detracts from this theory is a little dumb however, as evidenced by the quality of The Order videos Sony has released (twice) and the fact that leaked footage probably shouldn't look as if BlimBlim supplied it, now should it?

You're right, typing obscenities is a clear indication that I'm drastically, physically upset, not that I pressed four to seven keys to insert words into a sentence to convey my sentiment towards the controlled leak "movement." So you think that getting the attention of ten thousand hardcore gamers with shit tier quality gifs for an unannounced game is some sort of marketing coup in advance of an event that's watched by hundreds of thousands of hardcore gamers? I can't say I follow that logic one bit. So far it seems to be the "cool" thing to claim a leak is controlled, as damn near every leak the last few months has had a multitude of posters making that mostly baseless assertion.

I've never said anything about all leaks being legit, or that they were "cool." What is really cool though is that you seem to think a controlled leak would include Blu-Ray quality video. That's cute.
And you're right, I obviously meant that you were at home raging with a bat in one hand and a gun in the other. I couldn't possibly have been exaggerating to make a point while adding a little levity to the situation.

5 gigatons and 1 teraton

I'll take it!

Giga:
TLG
Crash
Shenmue 3
Beast
RE or GTAV

Tera:
FFVII remake

All exclusives

(Would already known games just being shown for the first time be considered megatons...ala Uncharted or God of War footage, etc?)

Yes, these are considered megatons.

I too say beast is a gigaton rather than mega.

If it's Terraton, shouldn't it be FF6 remake?

How many times do you need to legit do something aside from leveling up in Majula after you go to Heide's?

Majula is like having to drive all the way back home to go to the bathroom. The Nexus was like a roadside diner where you can drop by for a few minutes to pee and move on with your trip.

This is arguing semantics. You have to go back to the Nexus to level, same as Dark Souls 2. You're also forced to go back if you were carrying too much because of the item burden (not a problem in Dark Souls 2). And if you want to update the World Tendency, among other things. In both games you're gonna go back mid-level. Dark Souls 2 has some useful merchants, including a blacksmith btw. Also Majula acts like a hub to several areas too.

Besides, Demon's Souls doesn't have Homeward Bones right? So in DeS you have to walk back to the start of the level manually, then go back to the Nexus. This is your equivalent of "driving all the way back home" unlike in Dark Souls 2 where you can Homeward Bone it back to the bonfire and then go back to Majula. This is more of a shortcut than the way DeS does it.

They don't NEED 5 megatons with their positioning and momentum. Of course, they aren't sitting back this gen so I expect a few to be sure. :) Beast would be one of the best for me personally.

I see this character referenced all the time. What's so great about her?

There's not much to her character, like every Souls character. She has a cool accent though (might be annoying to some though). Which is more than I can say for someone like...Solaire...who just likes the sun. Whatever.

I want a game like Demon's Souls...

Nexus, different worlds, tendencies, amazing environments and feeling... so give me back shat made Demon's Souls amazing and my personal GOTY 2009.

I never played Demon Souls, but I did play Dark Souls and the only thing I regretted about trading in my 360 when I bought my PS4 is that I never got the chance to play Dark Souls 2. If this is announced at E3 then I will be ecstatic! The partnership for an exclusive with From Software and Sony has been rumored for a few years now, so does anyone think this will be a surprise announcement for a Holiday 2014 release? They lost The Order for this holiday and they need another big exclusive to fill in for that and if this has been worked on for years then it is a possibility. (Optimism)

My point is that the Nexus was more akin to a Bonfire in Dark Souls 1 than Majula. If you wanted to switch levels, you had to go through the Nexus anyways, while Majula after a few bonfires you only need to go back there if you actually need to, which in an open ended game like Dark 2 is a chore - specially in the console version where the loadings are annoying.

Looks like you want to put words in my mouth. I'm pretty sure that I didn't say controlled leaks would be BluRay quality, but I can't understand how you think this is a viable marketing strategy. Surprise E3 megatons are a proven strategy that works wonders to generate buzz around a company's conference, hence their employment for as long as I can remember. Why would Sony squander that sort of announcement on an obscure internet board with vague, cryptic messages and screen grabs less than half a month before their most watched marketing event of the year?

Can you really not see how ridiculous that is?

Theecliff and emceegamer likely said it better than I can, but I honestly believe you're deluded if you think this was intentional.

Even though it was leaked, it's not like it still doesn't count. I would walk away happy from E3 even if I only got to see a new trailer of this.

Well it's been said that this was meant to be shown at TGS last year so I'm hoping for 2014, but I think this is just wishful thinking on my part.

You have to go back to Majula to go to different areas too (Shaded Woods, Grave of Saints, Heide's, Forest, etc.). Remember Dark Souls 2 has a lot of branches and not an interwoven open world like the first half of Dark Souls 1.

Jesus, I was obviously exaggerating about the quality of the video. How do you know that this is their only surprise? Oh, you don't either? So, both of us are speculating about the possibilities and all I'm saying is that I could see a marketing team come up with something like this. If you can't see that, then you obviously don't remember the incredibly creepy babies Sony used to promote PS3. It's not as if that was the first or last time a company missed their mark or did something unexpected. It's perfectly plausible that they could (key word: could) have come up with something like this to get their core audience (again, the very people that buy these games) riled up and talking about it. Think that's ineffective? How did the DRM discussion play out on GAF and Twitter? Yeah, the origin is weird, but of course GAF is going to find it. If it gets lost in the noise of the internet, try again.
Again, I'm not saying it happened for sure, just that it is a possibility. Feel free to get a little more loose with the insults in your next post. That really solidifies the integrity of your argument.

There is a special circle of hell reserved for you then

I made it a priority to go around killing every NPC in the game at the end of each run. What does that get me?

But even if Sony has screwed up with The Order recently (of which they then partially rectified by having previews with much higher quality videos/screens basically the next day) why would you want to show off a brand new game for the first time like this? Through a shoddy looking leak? Also, your example of The Order doesn't line up properly in comparison to this - The Order had already been announced and we'd already had a proper gameplay reveal before they screwed up the recent reveal of footage. It wasn't the first time we'd seen the game.

And sure, while I still wouldn't be so quick to label it as 'controlled', I could kind of see where you're coming from with the idea of longer media coverage if this had been leaked several months before E3 ...But it hasn't. E3 is literally just right round the corner and everything points to this being announced there. The idea of a company spoiling a huge surprise they had up their sleeve through a website like 4chan just before they are going to announce it anyway to a huge audience is fucking ludicrous. Like really, really silly. A completely out of nowhere surprise like that would have generated loads of buzz, but that chance is gone now (not saying it still won't cause excitement, just that we know it's coming).

Not only that, but it leaves the game out of Sony/From's hands until they officially announce it; open to speculation and scrutiny based on a bunch of footage that could hardly be representative for all we know so far. If they did do this on purpose then that also would be a pretty silly oversight.

Don't remember but as this year is the 20th anniversary of Playstation I can see him being on stage this E3

20th anniversary? Possible original lineup games re-introduced? Crash, Syphon Filter, FF7 remake, Arc the Lad, Driver, Legacy of Kain, legend of dragoon, parappa the rapper, ??

Could possibly be 2-3 of those.

IF this is a controlled leak, this gets people (namely, the targeted demo.) to A: occupy movie theatre seats, B: tune in to webcasts and C: spread it around social media sites to attract their friends/peers.

I think I stopped at the "Garl having plague babies with the demon." There are two far more obvious explanations for the plague babies; they're the aborted babies dumped in the valley, or they're kidnapped children (see the Filthy Woman's dialogue). Nothing suggests they were actually born from Astrea and Vinland.

Theory is complete bullshit (False King is a sorcerer, really?) other than one thing: the characters in the Nexus are indeed dead. That's the only way to get in.

I must say that I prefer the bonfire setup to the level up lady from DeS and DS2.

I think the only recurring character in all three Souls games was the crestfallen in the hub. :D
Pledging fealty for power to my wax-faced waifu versus forever alone power ups at a bonfire?

Send me back to the Nexus, FROM.

The Order isn't a perfect example, but it does show that Sony might care a little more about generating hype than they do about bit rate. And again, the quality would almost have to be a little fuzzy, or the whole idea of a leak becomes more suspicious.

Also, this.

Never gets enough love...Though there is something about the Maiden in Black..

I think the opening cinematic, combined with these screens, and how finding npc's became a sub objective of the whole game, REALLY gave those characters a lot more presence in the story. Yuria was so great and had so much interesting lore about her, but was so incredibly obscure to find.

IF this is a controlled leak, this gets people (namely, the targeted demo.) to A: occupy movie theatre seats, B: tune in to webcasts and C: spread it around social media sites to attract their friends/peers.

It also overshadows the $399 Xbox Sku which is due to release on June 9th. So you couldn't ask for a better leak to distract people from the competitions positive news leading up to E3

Feel free to get a little more loose with the insults in your next post. That really solidifies the integrity of your argument.
This is veering far off topic, but I will mention that you were the first one to go with the insultingly smug and patronizing tone in your initial response. Saying shit like "oh me, oh my, that temper" and "that's cute" in response to someone [begin smug sarcasm] reeeeealllly solidifies your argument [end sarcasm].

You don't have the moral high ground here, bub. Hell, I sure don't either. It's probably best that we leave this here. If you want to continue this argument, PM me. Hopefully we can both keep things more civil :)

I hope bruceleeroy was right about us barely seeing any of this trailer. I want my mind to be blown Monday after next

In addition a company is able to conduct market research without actually having to assume responsibility for a product. If the response is positive they can eventually say, "Yes this is out masterpiece" If the response is carried by angry villagers with torches and pitchforks the company can disavow all knowledge or at the very least say, "Well that we old test footage and incomplete mechanics."

The game looks jaw dropping and it is a day one for me without doubt. But I would flip out if only Project Beast were what I wanted it to be...the ultimate Demon Hunter whom the Van Helsing movie and games have tried their level best to emulate but to no avail.

Very cool connection there. Ive heard the movie was quite good so will check it out one day.

Seriously with how much dark fantasy stuff the folks at From Software love I wouldnt doubt that someone on the team is familiar with Solomon Kane.
