I JUST WOKE UP

HOLY SHIT

HOLY SHIT

HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, this bigass thread appeared [and grew to 47 pages :D] during my sleep. Never change gaf. :)

Anyhow, here's the full gif

I might be going crazy, but it seems like we might be looking at different variations of the same weapon. The last one, in particular, looks to have teeth on the opposite edge of the blade while the others don't. Hard to say with the video quality, though.

...Damn, did you knock that out just as an example? I'm impressed.

On that last part of the leaks where the character is standing in front of the boss.
He emits a light on the ground without any lightsource.
Didnt Dark Souls do this also, its so called light reflection from the armor ?

Demon's Souls did it, but there was an in-game item (that you started with and could never drop) that provided light for you.

IIRC, there was going to be something similar to Dark Souls 1, but for whatever reason they didn't include it, and instead you just radiate light for no reason.

No wonder why Dark Souls 2 turned out downgraded and borderline bland. I knew I got that feeling from "Dark Souls 2 is not what it was supposed to be" from somewhere. From's decision to go for the "B team" for DS2 makes much more sense now. Can't blame them for going for Sony's cash though.

Simple. Sony made a mistake not publishing DeS in NA/Europe, From went on to do Dark Souls 1 and 2 without Sony, Sony paid them to do another Souls type game for them exclusively. If the game plays like a Souls game the name of the IP doesn't matter. I wouldn't be surprised if ideas from this game make their way into Dark Souls 3.

But Sony also worked on Demons Souls. It's as much their franchise as it is From's, since it wouldn't even exist without Sony's involvment

You don't seem to understand what a moneyhat is

I still wonder why this video footage doesn't have the project beast logo and "working title" from the previous image leak.

But Sony also worked on Demons Souls. It's as much their franchise as it is From's, since it wouldn't even exist without Sony's involvment

It is a shame they did not see the worth in it until after it became popular and they realized the huge mistake they made.

Was starting to wonder why I bothered to purchase a PS4 near launch, I never play the thing but it was an investment in the future (I like having all consoles so I can never be disappointed over an exclusive).... well it took them a little bit but if this is real and PS4 exclusive then GOOD JOB SONY YOU MADE ME FEEL BETTER.

Giiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive it to me!

this kind of thinking really needs to end. whatever your opinion about Dark Souls II, to insinuate that From Software purposely short-changed it's development for another--very similar--project is absolute lunacy.

So we can say a Demon Souls/ Dark Soul mechanic in Project Beast.
Maybe its no Dark Tower but really a Souls game.

I'VE WATCHED THIS VIDEO OVER FIFTEEN TIMES ALREADY

The character is a light source in all the games.

What's new here is it casts shadows.

It's not, DR3 is a perfect example of a good exclusive, one that wouldn't exist without MS intervention. Same thing for games like Bayonetta 2. A moneyhat is something like Titanfall, a game that would have come to other consoles had MS not paid to keep them off of them (Zampella himself said it was only timed before MS made it full)
MS didn't money hat titanfall. You should read "the final hours of titanfall" by Geoff, respawn ran out cash and MS were willing to put up the money for it to be made

Yeah because the competition has been bringing a lot of gameplay oriented exclusives right?

Wow You are so insecure.
I have not even thinking about MIcrosoft at all. In fact i was thinking about Sony making game that convince me to buy their console, which btw still hasnt happen [Gran Turismo or something like Dishonored, Jedi Outcast, Shadow Warrior or Dark Messiah could at least try to convince me though]

But if You ask, i think Forza and KIller Instinct are fully gameplay oriented games. Not really ones that convince me [same way as Project Beast], but technically they are.

The fact that this light that follows you is brought back gives me high hopes. The lack of light at your feet in DkS2 (well, I think it IS there, but it's so subtle it's hard to notice) really hurt a lot of the atmosphere since they expected you to carry a torch at all times through areas that had flat lighting. It's just one of those things where you're slowly marching through darkness, and seeing light interact with each other as you move around.

Sony passed on DeS and From and Mikazaki went on to Dark Souls 1. Miyazaki and pretty much all of the upper talent of From Software went to work on a seperate project, which is most likely Beast, while everyone else fell back to Dark Souls 2 with a new director. Sony/From/Miyazaki have been working on this since 2011

Beast is pretty much split between the 2 with Sony doing the heavy lifting with money and now this time possibly manpower (if Sony Japan does most of the work). I don't think you understand what moneyhatting is

I have and that's the reason it was always going to be times, we knew that from the onset. The moneyhat happened when MS decided to fund it some more (if that's the words you want to use) in order for them to scrap the Playstation versions.

Then how is it that Vince Zampanella stated that it was never meant to be a complete exclusive but only timed. MS paid EA to make it a permanent exclusive. It is a moneyhat though there is nothing wrong with it.

I actually really like the idea of requiring a torch for exceptionally dark areas. I just wish the lightning in DkS2 had been better, and actually required it in places other than the Gutter (and possibly Amana). I feel like it was a good idea, just not implemented as well as it could have been.

Clearly, Geoff knows more than the head of the company.

No reason there couldn't be both. You had a light follow you in Dark Souls 1 but you still needed a torch item for one part of the game where you couldn't see far past your natural light. The lighting of the torches is fantastic for the few times you do use them.

Funny that Killer Instinct is a fully gameplay oriented game but games like Resogun, MLB etc are not. Only Project Beast is the first gameplay oriented game ( whatever that means ) from Sony.
Anyways whatever helps you sleep at night.

yeah hmm, not the biggest fan ever (i didn't play those games) but that doesn't scream next gen in this small vid. It's hard to see the asset quality anyway..

I guess we'll never know what happened or what to believe, I trust respawn and if the game had to be exclusive in order for it to be made then that's fine by me but I wish things were different

Purposely or not, this isn't coming from nowhere, people started talking about how DS2 didn't feel or look like a true sequel long before they knew about project beast. Now at least we know why. And it's kinda disappointing. I hope they change their attitude for the next multi-plat at least.

Well, this is a project beast thread, so I'll just keep my salty mouth shut about this now.

DS2 does have both. Like the first game, enough to get you through the gutter if you have no torch.

I'm trying to figure out what Gameplay oriented even means. Like, does that mean a game with no story?

It's the same thing with "next gen gameplay"

I agree, I also have a feeling that this game has a lot to do with the strangeness DS2 has. Now, that's coming from someone that has played and enjoyed the game. It has nothing to do with hating on something. This kind of stuff happens, it's not out of the realm of possibility that they had another project and decided to move resources to it.

Oh nice. I was hoping to someday finish all the souls game, even though I doubt I ever will. I'm struggling with Demons souls atm. But that looked nice.

Yeah, you do have a natural light in Dark Souls 2, but it's so subtle that you don't really notice it so it doesn't really add to the game's atmosphere like it does the previous games.
