1 Omani Rial = $2.6 USD.

It's been relatively "easy" to get PS5 here if you really wanted, but now it's down to its retail price with 5% VAT included in that. Got my PS5 before the introduction of VAT for 215 OMR ($559) back in 19th of November 2020, now $586.95 with 5% VAT.

Forget about the US and UK, Oman is the real deal.

That's awesome, here I can get one any day now but the thing is overpriced as fuck, like $1200 - $1500 depending on the retailer.

I'm going to NY in a couple months, I'm going to be casually looking for one to bring home.

I think Sony Middle East is fierce and competent. Back at its launch they canceled all the preorders by the bots the next day and forced a 1 console = one person policy. You right down your name, your phone number, they have it in their system. Scalpers didn't do much around here if any.

I think they are monitoring the BS happening by some small shops so they wanna assure to bring back the prices to their original phase.

Before PS4, it was insane here, with each console launch day costing about $2600 and still keep higher than retail prices for long years.

Warm greetings to Argentina! WTF! This is like it's being priced for elites and the rich only, when the console itself is made for nearly everyone.

Countries like Argentina and Brasil have very high import taxes.
Protectionism taken to the extreme, in an attempt to force foreign companies to build factories in their countries.

Imagine someone trying to take this towards negative spin!

This is good news. I hope then in UAE we will have similar cases soon.

And here am I being annoyed/angry that the usd$499 PS5 has the price of ~usd$640 in Sweden...

usd$1699 holy hell !!!

Is it $640 in Sweden with/without VAT included though? That's a major difference as $499 in the US is before tax.

If you look around you might find some, starting with Lulu here, maybe. With my 3.5yo little daughter fighting me over my PS5 to play Astrobot I might buy her another PS5 with pink controller/faceplates. :messenger_winking_tongue: Maybe get her the SpongeBob, Peppa Big games while at it.

That's understandable to some goods, but these electronics aren't even made in some of the most advanced countries in the world like the US, Germany, etc. Those higher-ups really don't know how to evaluate things.

Clearly it's working well...
Yeah, it's like if the goverment thinks, how can we fuck up the economy more? they don't stop printing money, thus < inflation, plus taxes for everything that inject on unemployment fonds and social aid.. just enough to society don't implode. And of course the secret ingredient... corruption

Gov here is talking that we are going to take gas/oil from Oman, so I am glad that it's goes to a good thing.

Believe it or not, we get our oil from Venezuela. Why? Not sure, there is like a law in OPEC or something that you shouldn't use your own oil inside your country, which is pure lunacy.

Does that mean that demand has dried up? 😂
In Spain you can only get packs with up to twice the price

I don't really care, as long as it's not Russia. We don't have sea, so the options are limited and your gov comes to rescue.

I am sure that it was for a price, but who the fuck cares, sooner from the Russian embrace, the better.

Yup, crazy. Not sure about that info of "why" though, could be just too cheap or cheaper than refining it yourself.

It's a 4.2M country, that's why. A perk you get with small population.

You actually get the Omani oil. Prices here are now forced to stay at 0.239 OMR/liter ($0.64 USD/liter) for 95 octane RON (91 octane for US other measurement)

What are the delivery charges like from your shop? "lollipop_disappointed:

I remember Bo offering the kindness of helping me secure an Omani PS5 pre-launch, and I was like, "Pfft, I'll just wait a few months and get one with no shipping." Well...let's chalk that mistake up to lack of foresight. Now I'm in too deep, and have to stay the course. Might not have a PS5 until 2023 at this rate.

So it's the quality oil, then. Wheew I was scared that we are going to be given that USA garbage. Obviously we are going to pay more for it, because there is like 100% tax for fuel, but that would be same with any oil.

The offer is up anytime, but I think it'll land near scalper's price due to the package weight (~5kg), I think. Hope you get through your obstacles!

I'm betting that is an OPEC strategy to keep prices high.

Wow! Consider yourself lucky. In Europe it's still really hard to get and most retailers take advantage of the situation by selling you bundles that include 2 games, a second dualsense, the Pulse 3D... Long story sort: you end up paying 800 or 900 euros and only if you're lucky enough to find it available (stock only lasts a few minutes). This is so crazy.

It is very hard to buy one in Brasil even at $900.

They is restock one time per month (not always) and all retailers get sold out in seconds… they announce the the time and when it start you are luck when you enter the cart screen and it doesn't say it is out of stock.

Even so a lot of people getting their PS5 that way.

PS5 DE is easier to get… because people focus on disc PS5 so the DE stay in stock until the disc PS5 is all sold out… that eu you have at least one minute or so to buy the DE.

We are getting their, slowly but surely, between this and xbox series availability, this is a great sign
Sony is still maintaining their 10k weekly sales in japan while having some major amounts of consoles delivered over the past 2 weeks to at least the UK and USA.
Now they just need to keep doing that...while feeding their other countries.

PlayStation is huge in A LOT of markets where Sony had basically most of the market and they haven't been able to deliver much. I mean...40 consoles in a week in Spain is laughable.

The fact Sony could have 20M consoles ready to deliver WW and sell out instantly is fucking depressing in a way. The only PS5 i've seen is mine basically.

Check amazon bro. They have disc version bundles with GT7, an extra controller and the headset for about 3k AED.

Sold by amazon as well, not a 3rd party seller.

Those are normal prices for some countries.

Where I live it's about €800.

Yeah but...with 1200€ in Portugal (where i live) you can buy a PS5, an Xbox Series X and you're 100 euros short to buy a Series S as well. That's how bad those prices are.

I had no idea import taxes from Brazil were that bad. I had heard they were huge but holy shit. Consoles are supposed to be affordable.

I can't imagine how much an Iphone is over there...that's shit.

I doubt many enthusiasts like us are still on the hunt for that 1st one but.

BB is dropping right now in the US. Target dropped last night at 3AM and is supposed to be doing several drops a week. I don't know for how long though.

Hotstock app is the app to let you know where and it notified me twice since 3AM. It also operates off your zip code.
