So... for PSP 2000... is Prometheus-4 the best option?

New games need some kind of patch or something?

YsI&II should arrive this weekend :)

Running off of Custom Firmware
Haven't hit a game that Prome-4 can't handle yet (in some fashion), and that includes recent releases such as Ys I&II, Lord of Arcana, and more. TO runs, but needs a patch to get passed a fixed fatal crash.

What the deal with new PSN games like Vagrant Story, it was eluded to earlier, as it doesn't run on Prome v2, no luck with Prome v4 either right? I think you mentioned a while back that all new PSN stuff is encoded differently now so it doesn't run under CFW?

Unless you have a PSP 3000 or PSP Go, there's really no reason to use anything other than Prometheus firmware.

Thanks. What kind of patch? How do I apply it?
Forgot to mention that TO and DQVI are arriving with Ys too =]

So guys, how do I go from 6.20 TN-C to 6.35 Pro B2? Do I run the 6.35 OFW update and then just install Pro B2? Also, will my save files from TN-C get corrupted? I have a Go if that makes any difference.

So Pro-B2 still doesn't allow you to choose different versions of the PS1 popsloader emulators right?

Also isn't TN-D supposed to be released today?

Does it support Popsloader? If not, kind of pointless.

I've read "plugins during PS1 games", but I can't be sure exactly what that means.

Full support of PS1 games. This makes Pro-B2 obsolete.

Anyone? I'm on PSP-1000 btw. I haven't touched my PSP much lately

^^ is that newest release compatible with 1000?

I'll believe it when I see it - I don't see it supporting any more games than Pro-B2. Unless it has Popsloader and/or been tested with the few problematic titles (Chrono Cross, Xenogears), I expect the same level of compatibility. Hell, he's even been bitching for weeks about how the Pro team stole his code (ie. it will be the same).

I thought Pro-B2 wouldn't let you switch popsloader emus? I'm assuming TN-D does? If so it will definitely have more compatibility than Pro-B2.

I think with the PSP-1000 everythings compatible with it already. That thing is hacked completely open.

Try updating your CFW, maybe? Prometheus 4 is the latest version for 5.50 GEN-D, I think. I'm using M33-6 Prometheus 3 on a PSP-2000 (TA-88v2), and it ran without a hitch after I copied it over from my PS3.

It doesn't, and from that comes the big question of whether TN-D will or not.

If it does, it will be better; if it doesn't, it will be pretty much the same.

I hope so ::fingers crossed::

If Total Noob didn't put that feature in he's being disingenuous when he says it's "Full PS1 support".

I do to, but I think the most we can expect is less fumbling about with converter tools trying to get troublesome games to work.

Looks like my guess earlier was incorrect, Vagrant Story booted and played great on Prome-4. :)

According to comments on google, it works fine on 1000s (I'm on a 2000), but I make no promises!

Cool, I guess I'll just need to update my stuff then. Thanks. I'm guessing Xenogears should work too (though I haven't tested that one yet)

PSP Go! dropped to 130USD on Amazon.

Is it comfortable to use CFW on them these days? I mainly use Picodrive and Snes9X. Does the memory stick from my PSP3k work with it?

Edit: Poo, only the black one lowered in price for now..

It appears to work fine as well, no error codes or issues during the initial 15 minutes.

this doesn't look good seems like dissidia prologus doesn't work with prometheus iso loader. Wonder if full dissidia will work.

Just updated and it didn't work, deleted the games and copied from my PS3...now it works. I wonder if it didn't work before because I downloaded the PSone games directly from PSN on the PSP. Oh well, at least it works

Anybody have any problems running Snes9x Euphoria on a PSP GO running TN-C 6.20?

First time loading up a game, there was no audio and none of the PSP buttons (Home, volume, sleep) worked so I had to hard shutdown.

Google search seems to suggest some other people have had the same thing on their GOs and it's a problem that has plagued Euphoria before but it'd be nice if there was a workaround.

EDIT: Don't disable the "speed limit" option.

Popsloader doesn't work on TN-D, which isn't very surprising. It wasn't written for the kernel that 6.20 has. Someone would have to rebuild it to make it compatible for TN. I doubt it'll ever happen though. Popsloader hasn't been updated in years.

Edit: I just tested two games I've converted myself that I had handy. I tried Final Fanatsy VIII and Parasite Eve. Neither will run. After the intro warning screen, the screen goes black and the PSP eventually crashes.

GRAAAAAAR! Why does the world so want to keep me from having a white PSP 3000/Go?

More tests with custom PS1 games:

Arc the Lad II - Works
Final Fantasy Origins - Works
Final Fantasy IV - Works
Final Fantasy IX - Doesn't Work

I'm starting to suspect that maybe TN-D doesn't support custom dual disc Eboots. I'm getting ready to rip Final fantasy VIII's first disc and see if that works.

I used PSX2PSP to convert my Playstation image file over to an EBOOT, and slapped the EBOOT into my Games folder. You can add your own pic to show up as an icon in the games folder as well.

Crash Bandicoot and Einhander both work fine. I'll have to try out my Namco Museum titles later.

No. The Go uses a proprietary format that Sony came up with for the Go. It has 16GB of built in memory though.

It's not really a Go-specific format, it's Memory Stick Micro M2. It's a Sony proprietary format that they also used on cell phones and cameras before switching to SD for those (and that swtitch was before the Go came out... shame that SCE stuck with it).

Hey guys, I have a question, sorry if it's a stupid one.

I'm thinking about getting a portable system before going to PAX East. The DS appeals more to me game-wise, but all the custom firmware stuff (along with the ability to play SNES / NES games) of the PSP has me interested.

My question is to you guys:
If I was to buy a PSP-3000 right now on Amazon, would I have any trouble with getting custom firmware on it, or has it been patched out?

What If I was to get a PSPGo? Could I still do it?

Thanks in advance.

Final Fantasy VIII as a one disc eboot loaded up to the title screen, but crashed when I tried to start a new game.

From what I understand there are signed emulators for Genesis and NES (possibly others) that will boot up with whatever official firmware you may have. I'm sure your chances are very good that you'll wind up with a PSP firmware of 6.35 or less, especially if you purchase a PSP Go.

Aw, what a shame. That go for 130 deal sounded awesome, I was seriously considering getting one. Especially since the one I bought that was listed as "Like New" come with a broken L button :/

Yeah, I think i'm going to just go back to the 2000 for my PS1 fix. The implementation of Pops has been terrible in both TN-D and Pro.

Damn sad to hear about both TN-D and Pro not supporting Pops. I have a hacked 2000 as well. How's the compatibility rate for PS1 games on the 2000? Also which firmware would you go with? I think I have that m33 something one.

I want to play Final Fantasy Origins damn it! FF2 on FF Origins does not work on the PS3!!

With 3000, you can go HEN, maybe TN-D or Pro even. I'm not sure about the newer cfw like TN-D or Pro on the Psp go though.

5.50 Gen Prom-4 supports pops. M33 works too, but it hasn't been updated in a really long time. Sad that neither TN-D or Pro does. Was looking forward to TN-D too.

I bought a like new psp go white through amazon wharehouse a week ago before the price drop (dammit!) and I have 635PRO-B firmware running. I'm a little pissed about the recent price drop but it's so worth it after I got the custom firmware running. So far I can get quite a few games to work and a bunch of emulators. I also bought a 16g expansion and got games running off that too. They added ps1 support with the recent firmware update but I haven't tested any of those yet.

My psp came with like a 5.70 firmware.

Oh and bluetooth ps3 controller is awesome on this!

I finally updated to to 6.20 TN-D for my PSP Go, and I have a few questions regarding emulators and converting PSX games.

I run on Mac, does any know what is the best way to convert my PSX CDs into runnable ISOs (eBoots? :S) for 6.20 TN-D?

Also, I am very confused with all the different versions of emulators for the PSP. What is the best version of the SNES, CPS1 / CPS2, Neo Geo, Mame emulators that will work for 6.20 TN-D? So far all the ones I have tried for arcade games do not work. The SNES one I am using is Snes9X Euphoria R5 Beta 3 and it seems to be working pretty well for Super Mario World, but Super Mario Kart and Super Metroid is glitched like crazy. :/
