I ripped the UMD ISO, went in and deleted the install data folder, and applied the ME631 patch to it, and it seems to run fine on my 2000 with 5.00 M33-6 Prometheus 3 - I haven't played much yet, but I was able to get past the second battle where the stock ISO couldn't.

Hey man, I'm having the same problem as Chairhome, but I'm afraid I don't understand what you're suggesting. I looked up ME631 and found what looked like a new version of Prometheus, but when I downloaded it to my PSP and tried to run it I just got the "Corrupted data" icon in the game list. Am I doing it wrong?

Also, I don't know where the install data folder is? Although I'm not even sure I have that: I haven't gotten the game to run at all, so I don't see how it could have installed any data...

I'm apparently on 5.50 Prome-4, FWIW. Anyone have any advice?

The data install file is a ~600MB file in the iso in a folder, forget what it's called but it's pretty obvious. From what I've read you need to use isotools to apply the ME631 patch to the eboot files in the iso. I read someone else having success with this method online, and once I understand it a little better, I'll need to try it myself.

Is it in the INSDIR folder? I saw it yesterday but didn't touch it. I patched ME631 using isotools 1.970, but it didn't work :-/. I'll have to try again tonight.

Ah, I got it! Yeah, I just ran isotools and selected the iso, said "Patch Prometheus," and then selected the ME631 folder, and now it appears to work (it got to the title screen, at least). Sweetness.

But apparently I never had the install data or something, so I didn't have to delete it.

You might have trouble once you get to the first battle. It usually kicks you out of the game right before the first battle.

Does anyone know if the steps in the OP for ripping PS1 games apply for a PSP-3000 running 6.35 PRO-B2?

I have most of my PS1 games already ripped from my PSP-1000 days but have gotten a few more since then that I'd like to be able to play: Strider2, Nectaris: Military Madness, Running High, and a Macross Digital Mission.

I'd like to say tossing my PSP-1000 was a bad move, but I'm liking my new 3000 (bought it new from a store for $12) especially the battery life. Now if I could only figure out how to shoe-horn a 3rd party 3600mAh battery into it I'd be in heaven.

I'd also like for the OP to be updated with the link to the CFW for dummies page, as it helped me out quickly and simply.

Yea, a straight iso rip will black screen/reset on the 2nd battle (dunno if someone would get confused and count that short mini-tutorial where you move once as a battle) on CFW unless it is properly patched, which people are having success doing now.

You're talking about the install data inside the ISO, correct? You have to go in using that WS whatever tool and delete the install folder?

I used ISOTools to decrypt and apply the ME631 patch, and then deleted the install data directory (INSDIR) using UMDGen when I compressed the ISO to a CSO. I'm not sure if applying the patch before/after deleting the INSDIR makes any difference, but I believe that's the order I did it in. And I'm not sure if deleting the install data is necessary, but I did since it's not going to be used and takes up over half of the ISO size.

All told, it definitely works at through the second battle at least, whereas the stock ISO couldn't.

Yeah, turns out I spoke too soon: game crashed going in to the first real battle (second if you count the one-turn intro).

So, the install data is in the ISO? That would explain why I couldn't find it... although it seems weird that deleting that would be necessary, I guess it's worth a shot? So now I need to get UMDGen apparently...

Okay, can you walk me through it? I tried it again and no luck :-(. So use ISOTools 1.970 to decrypt (do you say yes to patch BIN?) then patch prometheus ME631, then UMDGen to delete INSDIR and compress, then play? I'll try one last time, but it's pretty annoying right now...

1. Download ISOTools and Prometheus ME631. Copy both, along with the unaltered (1.5GB) ISO, to MSP. Make sure ISOTools/ME631 are put in proper location (should be in readme).
2. Run ISOTools on PSP.
3. Select the ISO, press X (possibly O depending on your system region?) to bring up ISO MENU
4. In ISO MENU: Select "EBOOT Decrypt". Backup -> Yes/No (optional). Version Patch -> Yes. Start -> Yes.
5. In ISO MENU: Select "Patch", then "Patch Prometheus".
6. Copy the patched ISO back to PC. Open in UMDGen, delete PSP_GAME/INSDIR and PSP_GAME/SYSDIR/UPDATE
7. Compress and save as CSO.

THANKS!!!! My problem was that I didn't copy the ME631 files to the directory on the PSP under ISOTools, I didn't know I had to do that, I thought it was built in. Thanks!!! WORKS!!!

Just got myself a go and have a couple of questions. Can I purchase tactics ogre from the psn store and transfer it while staying on an older firmware? Or is it better to buy a physical copy and rip it?

I downloaded LittleBigPlanet from the PSN store and I am not on the latest PSP firmware, so I assume it should work for you too (mine was a code to redeem, not a purchase).

Also I bought FF9 on my PS3 and transfered it to my PSP (old firmware still) no problem.

I might be buying a used Go from someone on Craigslist tonight. As long as it's not updated to 6.37 I should be able to put CFW on it right? There's no current workaround for 6.37?

And it looks like I will be able to play PSOne games I download from PSN on it even with CFW?

I'm pretty excited.

There's a signed version of Half Byte Loader for fw 6.37 and signed homebrews which work on OFW. But many homebrews aren't signed or doesn't work with HBL.

It has 6.37, so my dream of playing ISOs is dead for now. Frowwwwn :(

Just got my PSP Go in the post. It's on firmware 6.30; that should be OK to downgrade and CFW, right?

Also, best place to grab everything I need in regards to custom firmwares?

Edit: Never mind. All sorted. Way easier this time than with previous PSPs I've CFWd.

Something kind of interesting was recently released: a permanent version of 6.20 TN-D. Apparently it's somewhat experimental and there's a (good) chance that it will brick your Go, but if it installs successfully, it basically becomes CFW.

No I'm just asking if anyone has heard anything about CFW in development. The current ones just aren't cutting it.

I assume that Popsloader doesn't work because it isn't compatible with the 6.xx kernel, not because of any problem with the HENs. Someone will have to update it for it to work.

I made a pandora battery with a magic memory stick that installs 4.01 m33 a LONG time ago and I was wondering, how can I convert this to one that will either flash directly to m33-6 or 5.5 gen d3

Woo. It'd save me like 10 seconds a week.

Totally not worth the risk.

Just upgraded to 5.50 Gen D3 with Prometheus 4 and I am trying to copy my PSOne Classics I bought to it and I'm getting this error "An error occurred during the copy operation. (80029751)"

Does anyone know what's up?

Probably a silly question but I use media go to transfer games from the psn store to my psp go. The problem is that it downloaded a system update without my consent. Will it automatically update my psp next time I connect it through usb?

Media Go never updates your PSP without asking you. Most likely you hit enter or something when it asked you if you wanted to update.

okay, my PSP GO has firmware HEN 6.20 TN-C right now. but i want the PS1 Support, so i'm planing to jump on 6.35 Pro-B.

do i just need to exchange the HEN file in the PSP or do i need to update my psp before starting the program. i'm confused D:

If you want PS1 support, why not just use HEN 6.20 TN-D? You just replace the hen file, it saves you the trouble of updating your psp. Plus there is more homebrew currently supported by 6.2.

What's the best way to let a PSP-2000 with Gen-D work with the PSN store? I'm going to be getting the Dissidia prologue tonight, and it's my first PSP download purchase.

I am also wondering this, but I have a PSPgo with 6.35 PRO. Anyone have any ideas?

You need to convert the backups to an eboot using a program on pc or Mac (google it, there are a bunch that are available) then you put the eboot folder in the game folder on your memory card and you run it from the XMB, no loader required.

And to add insult to injury, my PSP is now bricked.

I can bring up the recovery console with the Pandora battery and charger plugged in, but I forgot what step to do in order to make the PSP work with a normal battery.

Also, if there's no way to get Prologus currently working, can I just update to normal firmware and switch back to CFW later?

i want to upgrade to prometheus 4 but i'm hearing that it has alot of problems like freezing randomly

anyone have their own stories behind this?

FYI, I bought Dissidia 012 prologus off of PSN last night and under 6.20 TN-D with version spoofing enabled I get the "you must update to at least version 6.30 to play this title" error message. As of right now, I can still connect to PSN and the store from the device without a problem.

I was hoping to get a response by now on my blank screen situation. I got a solution before, on this same thread I believe, but I don't want to have to search back 200 pages to find it.

When I put in the Pandora Battery I can boot it up just fine, get into games and such, but I forgot the next step I need to do in order to insert the regular battery and have it work. Someone please help me out here, Google brings up a million different (out of date) solutions.

Also again, if I just update to current firmware to play the game, are there ways to get back to CFW?

Pandora battery only puts it into service mode, unless you have one that can do both. If you do, it's should be on the battery itself.
The Prologus is new, so that would have to be patched to get it to work. I haven't tested with Tn-D or Pro if they work.

Yeah, I may upgrade to 6.35 PRO-B3, ideally I'd like to be able to play retail content from PSN/UMDs as well as having the option to run homebrew stuff like Cave Story and emulators.

Not sure what you mean by service mode; I can boot up to the main menu and also get into Recovery Mode.

I just want the best available option to get the PSP working again.
