i want to upgrade to prometheus 4 but i'm hearing that it has alot of problems like freezing randomly

anyone have their own stories behind this?

I'm using Prometheus 4 and I haven't had any issues with it. The latest game I played was Ys Chronicles and it worked great.

You have cfw already installed. What part isn't working?

Service mode was a backdoor Sony left in the PSP to unbrick PSP. You need a Pandora battery and a memory card to use the setup. When the PSP is in Service mode, it looks to the Memory Stick port and will install the firmware from there (thus bypassing the internal flash).

If you don't have the memory card, then a Pandora Battery is useless. Its a two part system.

Thankfully, the memory sticks are really easy to create.

Could I get a link on the easiest way to create the memory stick? I don't think I had to do this last time, but if it will fix my current issue, I'll get on it.

Also, curious if anyone got Prologus working with 6.35 PRO-B3.

I too am curious. I'd rather be out $3 now than $30 next week.

This is probably a dumb question but I'm backing up my saves on my PSP Go and remembered that I have huge install data from Kingdom Hearts and Peace Walker. Is there any reason to keep that install data if it's on the Go/memory stick/not on UMD?

No, it's pointless. The Valkyria Chronicles II manual even says not to do it for the PSN version.

Not if you bought a lot of PSN games.

IF you can get the damn thing to work. I've never been able to get it to work and I've spent hours trying to fix the damn network error I get from it.

I am having a HELL of a time getting my PSP to work properly. I followed every step in this video to the letter:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPHfgtwIXwo&feature=related

When I have the Pandora battery hooked up, the PSP will boot like normal. When I switch to the regular battery, the green light will light up for about 2 seconds and then shut off. If I hold L+R while turning on the light, it will boot into M33 Recovery Menu. I can also boot into the regular PSP screen when I hit exit.

All I want is a method to fix my PSP so it will at least turn on properly with the normal battery hooked up, and then I want to install the official firmware so I can finally try this damn demo and not be boned when Dissidia 012 hits next week.

I implore you for your help here.

Edit: Okay, I got into the screen that let me install the CFW, and it now says on my system software that I have 5.50 GEN-D (Full) installed. My PSP now boots up normally on the normal battery, so that headache is gone at least.

So what would be the best way to install official firmware, to avoid further problems?

Can 6.35PRO-B3 be installed on a PSP-2000? If so, details please.

Update to official 6.35
Install 6.35-PRO-B3.
???
Profit

The files you'll need can be found at PSP Slim hacks or just about any other PSP hacking site.

I got the official FW installed along with the 6.35 PRO, but when selecting the OFW it says the latest software on my PSP is version 9.90.

Someone told me before that I need to edit that on vsh, but I would like the exact location to make sure I'm editing the right file.

You need to edit the version.txt.

Nothing on /seplugins, and I can't seem to bring up the VSH menu with Select. Is there something else I can do? Do I need to update to GEN-D3 to access the VSH menu, or is there another way?

You probably need to update to a newer gen version or something else. The fact the VSH menu doesn't come up is an issue if you're actually running CFW.

Well, now I'm stuck again.

I update GEN-D to GEN-D3, open up VSH menu to Flash 0, edit the version text file to 5.50, no problems so far.

I then manually update to the official 6.35 firmware through the GAME>UPDATE folder.

Once it installs, I'm back to the earlier problem where the system won't turn on: the light will go green for a second and then turn off. I can still open the recovery menu and re-install GEN-D, but until I figure out how to get 6.35 installed, I won't be able to install the 6.35 PRO.

Right now the only thing I can think of trying is editing the version text file to 6.35 and see if I can update to PRO from there, but I still appreciate all the help you can give me.

I've got a 2000 with GEN D3. But occasionally it won't load up the XMB or homebrew. I've been told it's because my PSP has been dropped before, so the UMD sensor in the hardware may be damaged.

If I upgraded to official firmware with HEN, does anyone know if that would fix my issues? Obviously I'd lose access to kernel mode homebrew.

so I'm not exactly sure, should I stick with my 5.50 Prometheus 4 or upgrade to 6.20 (or whatever it is now) HEN? I'm not really updated with the HEN side of things are there many cons by going that way? Plus I want access to the PSN store... I can't seem to download any wallpapers and such even with PSNLover. Would that still be an issue with HEN?

Hey guys, is there a huge difference in speed between Class 2 and Class 4 Micro SD cards to use with the photofast adaptor thing?Thinking if buying 2x micro SD cards soon.

Like is getting 2x8gb cards that are Class 4 better than a Class 2, 16gb card? Was gonna buy a 16gb card but it was class 2 and I wouldnt like the media or games running like crap.

So I'm still stuck in the same problem: I'm using Hellcat's Recovery program to install firmware 5.00, which does indeed work, but whenever I try to manually install 6.20 OFW, I'm stuck with the PSP not turning on unless I go to recovery. And when I do access the main menu after exiting recovery mode, it says on my system settings that I have 5.00 M33 installed.

I'm running out of ideas.

Okay, so I spent several hours trying to fix this, but no luck. I'll get right to the point: I want to completely wipe my CFW, since it's somehow getting in the way of letting me install official firmware. Whether I do it manually or through the XMB, after the firmware is installed, my PSP won't display unless I go into recovery mode.

So I'm asking for the best method to do a complete wipe, so I can just install regular FW without interference. Please help me if possible.

One more update before I call it quits for today: apparently I was successful in installing official firmware on my PSP, but it will only register if I'm either A) using the Pandora battery or B) not using a battery at all (charged on my AC adapter). The issues I stated regarding the PSP not turning on unless I'm in recovery mode seem to only occur with the normal battery.

In other words, the normal battery appears to be the Pandora battery now. Don't ask me how that happened.

In any event, do I just need to replace it with a new battery then? I tested out Prologus and it does indeed work.

What's the best solution for fixing uncorrupted old game saves from 5.50 gen d3 to prom-4? I tried lua player and its still corrupted. Is Freecheat better?

Upgrading to 6.20 TN Hen is one way to get saves working - and apparently now TN-D also has permanent install option, so it's not much of a change from CFW on 5.5 anymore.

Ordered a Lexar 32GB card on Amazon for about 50 EUR, not bad... I know it's Lexar.. but it was almost half the price of the other cards. Does anyone have bad experience with Lexar cards?

Excited about the space! I think I'll keep my games on the 32GB card, and use the 16GB card for homebrew.

Anything not Sandisk (or Sony) tends to perform at least 2 speed classes worse then the advertised spec.
Eg. Kingston/Lexar SD class 6 typically performs worse then Sandisk class 2.

To be fair - the only time you actually get affected with these speeds is when copying stuff to the card (and if you copy through USB, PSP interface limits the max write speed to around 7MB/s anyway, so the real-speedy cards aren't gaining you anything).
As far as gaming/media uses go - none of the high-capacity cards should have any problems.

Hm yeah that's what I was thinking, I have good experience with Sandisk. Although on a 16GB card I sometimes have sluggish loading when loading the GAME menu on XMB. Perhaps formatting the card will help.

Thanks for the explanation!

Are you still on 5.03 by any chance? XMB got a lot more responsive somewhere from 5.5(or 6.x, not entirely sure) onwards.
Though fragmentation can have effects too yea.

I have an old psp 1000 on cfw, and i picked up a psp go this week, installed 6.35 pro-b with no problems but i copied my english-patched version of the ps1 policenauts to it and it doesn't appear to work. Is there something else I need to run rips of old ps1 games or is the compatibility just not there?

Long story short, I need a new battery for my slim PSP-2000. As of now, I'm using the extended battery that I bought from Best Buy, but it's a temporary purchase as it's A) bulky in the back and B) way too expensive ($45).

I don't want anything fancy, just the cheapest but still functional battery out there. There's a lot of third party stuff on Amazon, but I wanted a recommendation so I don't pay the price for....well, not paying the price.

Unless you're in Canada or something, last I saw the extended battery for the PSP was down to $30. I would absolutely stay away from eBay and marketplace sellers on amazon selling batteries since a lot of them are 3rd party and terrible.

That's what you're looking for in a regular battery, though.

Hello pals, just a few quick questions here for ya

I have recently decided to get off my ass and back up my ps1 and ps2 games. I downloaded the isobuster thing off the first page and have begun to make isos of a few of my games. my question is, what is the best way to store those files on my portable hard drive? should i leave the games as the iso images, or should i actually convert the games into executables to be used on the ps1 and ps2 emulators (or psp friendly ps1 conversions)? Once the psp support dries up i plan on getting custom firmware on my psp so i can hopefully play all my psp and ps1 games on my go, but i am really bad with these kinds of things so i need all the advice i can get.

Every emulator other than the PSP will look for the ISO image of the game so for general compatibility that is your best bet. You can always convert the ISO to an eboot for the PSP when you need to but the ISO is what you'd want for archiving.

Yo Milkham, how's it going man? Anyway, I played the Policenauts english patch version to completion just last week so it definitely works with 6.35 pro B. Perhaps the rip isn't good?

EDIT: Er, just saw you said you copied it from PSP 1000, so I don't know, but Policenauts definitely works with 6.35 pro B

Is it worth getting a PSP3000 if I have a 2000 model? I heard the screen was worse.. but is the d-pad and other features better?

Can you install a complete CFW on the 3000, or is it basically like a Go?

PS. Is the 3000 model the same as the latest Monster Hunter PSP?

yes, it's temp cfw. everytime you shutdown and boot back up, you have to run a file to get into cfw mode.

Okay, over the past weeks I upgraded from 5.55-GEN-D to 6.20-TN-D or something like that.

CWCheat works in POPS and PSP mode. isoloader gotten as well. Wasn't too much a pain in the ass like I thought it'd be, but having to boot CFW if shutdown/hard-rebooted on freezes kinda sucks. :|
