Popsloader is available in one of the latest PRO B8 nightly builds, for those interested. But you should wait for a stable release.

Buckle up; this one's complicated.

I have a PSP 2003 which has been running ChickHEN for ages. I ripped a few games from (legit!) UMD to run on it; one of them was Little Big Planet. Played it extensively, unlocked many of the items.

I've recently purchased a second-hand PSP Go. It's been running TN on and off, I haven't yet experimented with PRO. It came with Little Big Planet installed. The previous owner had (sensibly!) wiped off his login data, but the license was intact.

For convenience, I'd like to run this copy of Little Big Planet over my UMD one - for whatever reason, the UMD one appears to crash under TN. PRO may be a solution to that, we'll see, but for now it makes sense to use the downloaded LBP instead. I've taken a copy of the license with the PSP License Manager mentioned earlier in the thread so I can switch to and from the license that LBP uses.

With me so far?

Now, I'm fond of LBP. To the extent of wanting to purchase DLC for it. However, any purchase of DLC I make will be through my PSN account and therefore licensed with a different license to that of LBP itself. Can I purchase or modify the purchased DLC in any fashion which would allow it to work with the downloaded version of LBP? If I have to stick with the ripped UMD version, that's *probably* fine (if the crashes are just TN playing up, at least), but the convenience of having it work without any CFW working is tempting (particularly if PSN ever gets tempted to add in a CFW check, at the moment that's worrying me a little)

Usual disclaimer of course... but here's the gist:
Update to OFW 6.39
Download the appropriate CFW for your OFW (6.39 - http://code.google.com/p/procfw/downloads/list)
Place /FastRecovery and /PROUPDATE from the archive to your MS's /game folder
Run PROUPDATE to install

You can delete the /PROUPDATE and the OFW update file from your MS when you're done with it.

Just run Fast Recovery when you actually turn-off your PSP to enable it again. You could check if the CFW is running by pressing SELECT or in your SYSTEM INFORMATION from the XMB.

Cool, thanksI installed the CFW from that link. How do I go about putting my PS1 games onto it to play?

EDIT: N/M figured it out. Got Alundra working!

Looks like a lot has happened in CFW land since I last updated. I'm on 5.50 Prom-4 on a PSP 1000. Do these new custom firmwares offer anything that's worth upgrading for (a 6.00 pops for instance) or should I just stay where I am?

Just download the OFW version that you want and update as usual.

That seriously works? Damn, I remember when you could first install CFW on the PSP-1000's and if you ran an OFW update after it'd brick the unit.

Crazy. I'll have to remember that I can just update to OFW when I trade my PSP in towards a Vita this winter.

Hello,

Does anyone here know if Project Diva: Dreamy Theater works with custom firmware, or do I need official firmware to connect to the game?

So, now that I'm on The last Pro cfw, what do I need to rip and run my ps1 games ? Preferably on one iso/eboot for games on several discs.
Can i just rip them to iso ? Do I havr to creatr an eboot ? Do I need a homebrew such as popsloader ?

Did you convert it with POPstation? If so, it isn't the .iso anymore, it's the eboot.pbp. You take the converted eboot + folder IIRC and put it in /game/ only. It should run after that.

...Zinga Burga's POPstation? Does no one read the rest of the thread before asking questions.

You NEED that to convert the .iso to EBOOT.PBP's for the PSP to run. If you don't have the .iso's yourself, well you need to research into ripping the PSX games yourself. I'm not sure about the legality of posting information like that on GAF.

Wasn't sure that there wasn't a way to run ps1 .isos directly so I asked :)

Would have saved some time to skip a step.

No there isn't. The PSX emulator is a Sony created emulator that requires Sony made formats to run. Standard .iso's won't run. It's the reason PSN store releases are straight .iso dumps converted to EBOOT.pbp's. You get their glitches and all.

Ok so CD->iso->eboot and put the eboot in a folder in the GAME folder, right ?

Correct. If not /psp/game, then /psp/game639 (or whatever firmware you have). It's been a while since I've done non-PSN store PSX games, but either of those folders should work. Otherwise you may need to futz about putting it in random /psp/gamexxx folders to get it to run. Google can give you a better more direct answer, but that's the gist.

Edit: Also with POPstation at any time you can just reconvert the eboot.pbp back to an .iso. Select the eboot.pbp in popstation where you generally select the .iso and click "convert to .iso" IIRC. No need to keep the .iso's after converted.

Also I'm not sure if the popstation naturally does multi-disc eboots, as I haven't used it in a while, but you may need to Google around for the multi-disc version if they didn't fold that into the main one.

It won't work with CFW. It's the game that pushed me purchase a pandora battery.

Given temporary firmware is available, can't you simply just update to 6.39, run Project Diva there and when done go back to TN/PRO/whatever with the enabler?

I had never thought of that as an option but I guess it's a lot more convenient.

Can't manage for sh!t
I've been trying to make a pandora battery but it just didn't work. I just read on some other forum that sony made new batteries un pandorable. Is that right?

I just installed it on my 2000 and I'm having problems. Most of my PS1 games won't load, no matter what Popsloader version I use. When they don't load, my system crashes. When they do load, the system crashes when I quit a game. After it crashes, the system won't restart unless I take my memory card out. Has anyone had that problem?

I'm just having a lot of trouble getting games to play. Even games that worked on 5.50 Prometheus with the old Popsloader. For example, I've been playing Final Fantasy VIII for the last few days on 5.50 Prometheus-4. It's a custom converted Eboot. I could play it on Prometheus, but it won't even load with the new Popsloader, no matter what version I choose. That and all the crashing is making me want to downgrade. I'll probably do that tomorrow or whenever I'm not too lazy to do it.

Wait, PRO got Popsloader?

Yeah, I just installed it now.

This is huge imo - because we are now able to use Pops up to 6.39 (we were previously limited to around 5.00 iirc), this greatly improves the odds that we might find fixes for the few PS1 games that have issues. If Jade Coccon can be fixed, I will die a happy man. Lots of testing ahead of us.

Just when I think PSP is settling down, it's news like this that brings me back. CFW and continued Japanese support are the reasons why I still play it 10x more than my 3DS, and why I don't feel i'll need a Vita for a long while.

Anyone having problems with b8 should re-download the binary. They fixed some errors/problem users are having with the initial release.

Is that better than any Popsloader implementation to date?

Quick question: Is there a list of the best emulators and where to get them from?
After seeing I NEED SCISSORS's LADX pics I want to try out that GB Emulator.

There are a few available from the homebrewstore, so you can download them directly to your PSP.
I guess they must be some of the best if they are on the service.

What is HomebrewStore?

HomebrewStore is a digital marketplace for homebrew PSP content. This content ranges from games to applications to themes.
All of the content on the HomebrewStore, including the HomebrewStore itself can operate on any PSP unit from firmware 5.00 and up, no hacking required.
The HomebrewStore is free to use and does not alter the operation of your PSP unit in any way

You can access HomebrewStore from any mobile device running iOS!
Simply visit http://bit.ly/hbstore in your iOS device's internet browser and follow the directions given.
From the HBStore app you can view the entire HomebrewStore catalog and queue up to 3 titles for later downloading on a PSP device.

Quick question guys, i have had CFW 6.20 PRO B6 Permanent, now i have notice that 6.20 is the highest the Permanent version goes. What is the difference between the Permanent and the none Permanent versions of B8??

Ok installed CFW PRO B8 Permanent, and i still cant get Parasite Eve 2 to load, after the PSX logo i just get a black screen. Do i need to install some Popstation plugin or something or is it built into PRO B8 CFW??

So I made an EBOOT out of my old copy of Lunar Eternal Blue, but it goes to a black screen when I first go out to the fountain area in the Blue Spire after meeting Lucia (if I remember correctly this part triggers an FMV or something). Any possible fix for this? Using a PSP Go on 6.39 Pro-B7.

So to save me from reading tons of pages back, procfw works with the PSPgo and Popsloader works on it, too?

My only desire for CFW is to load my own UMDs and my own PS1 ISO to my memory stick. If I can do that, I'm sold on a go.

Now that Mejilan is gone this thread has kind of turned to shit.
Always way more questions being asked than answers being given...

Yes, but you need another CFW PSP that is 1/2/3000 if you want to rip the UMDs yourself to use on the Go since the go has NO UMD drive.

Not to be a jerk, but most of these questions can be found by Googling around a little bit. In fact, with the light CFW out there now, there is VERY little risk in terms of like the old days of downgrading and updating/flashing. You simply need a firmware and a HEN now that does most of what OE/M33/GEN did.

Running off of Custom Firmware
I'm around, and I read almost every comment.
I'm actually thinking about taking my long-neglected Go and actually doing something with it.
But quite honestly, I've been so happy with my 2000 at 5.50 Gen/Prometheus, I haven't felt particularly driven to tinker with the Go.

I'm not too keen on these "light" CFWs, and so haven't followed them too heavily.
Certainly not enough to answer questions directly about them.

If I ever do get around to messing with my Go, I'll likely revisit the OP with more relevant (though probably much less thorough) tutorials. No promises, though.

Thank you for the quick reply. I have a PSP-1000, so I could get that on CFW and get my UMDs off.

Could someone please remind me how to use CFW to play PSP games upscaled through my PC via USB?

I'm sure there was a thread that had a screenshot or two of FFI running through this kind of setup a few years ago. I've been Googling it but I'm starting to think I may have imagined it in a dream.

You can install 6.39 pro permanent if you have a fat or a first gen 2000 (like me!).

It's the remote something plugin, don't have my PSP to hand sorry. Can be done though!
