Quantum Break PC performance thread

Only problem with that is people would have been turned off at getting a port a "few months later"...like second class citizens, so MS probably pushed for a simultaneous release. Bad decision.

Would they really though? Hasn't Rise of the Tomb Raider sold more on PC than Xbox One? I'm sure people would bitch about it, but in the end they will still buy it.

Now we're going to have to wait for weeks at the very least before this game might be playable. If MS even gives a fuck about fixing it that is.

PCGH.de started their coverage. Normally I try to translate the most important paragraphs real quick but I'm running out of time (leaving the house in 20 mins).

Overall they aren't happy.

Frametimes: R9 Fury - 1080p

I think waiting to see how this plays out might be the best solution for this game atm.
Ughhhh, disgusting...
Who the fuck would pay $70 for this on PC!? Some Bandai type shit with this PC port.

:-/

Screens look good though.

I certainly intend on keeping my hands off of this game.

This is when paying the money for someone like Nixxes pays off to get a good port of the game a few months later.

Ugh...

Their track record speaks for itself, but Rise of The Tomb Raiders runs TERRIBLY at times.

4690K, 980 Ti, 16GB RAM, and all SSD's before anyone asks

Is it possible that all of these ports were rush jobs? MS REALLY want us on Windows 10 and loving their store.

Totally a bad decision from them.

The allure from a good PC port comes from a solid port, really good pc enhancements and better framerate, resolution, aa, and all the good stuff.

Shame.. because i was really excited for this game to hit the store on PC. I wonder how long it'll be till all this is fixed. My guess is not anytime soon.

A good PC port..when i look at the division that game is flawless and it has been a longtime seeing that but it was also done in house at massive. But seeing this? As another said a rush job even the PC requirements boggles my mind this should not be allowed or sold in this state.

:-/

Screens look good though.

Looks meh to be honest..

That released on Steam though. With the stigma around the Microsoft store this would have been sent out to die if it released a few months later without a marketing drive.

Not that it matters since its been sent to die regardless

Whatever it is... its shady business. At least they didn't let people preorder. haha. I dodged a bullet on this one.

I guess the lack of pc build showcase from Remedy was a good place to start to notice that the build was probably not their priority. This is just crazy bad tho. Surprising too, considering Alan Wake and American Nightmare PC counterparts were solid. Probably a last min decision from MS to request a PC release.

I feel like Tomb Raider was before this renewed PC push from MS was made public. We've known about the TR PC version for almost a couple years now(?). MS didn't open the floodgates of announcing ports of all their XB1 exclusives to PC until earlier this year...just a few months ago i believe.

This is fun, can I have my take on what happened here?

·Remedy asks to develop a PC port
·MS says nay
·Spencer says "We not gonna ask to the team to develop an extra version in the middle of development cycle"
·Remedy insists.
·MS says, ok, but you're going to use this software that we create to ease the ports (Introduced during GDC), and you are not to take any time from deving the one version
·Remedy says ok

And this is what we got.

Microsoft, best ideas, worst executions. ALWAYS.

Maybe it went like that, though are we going to get a proper response with regards to this port off remedy?

The PC version of TR had nothing to do with Microsoft. It was part of the deal CD made with Microsoft where they would be able to release a PC version shortly after the XB1 version. CD then got Nixxes to handle the task of porting the game over.

Exactly, it's not the same boat.

Guys, phone Microsoft and get refunds if you want. On some of the PC specific forums I visit there are people getting refunds. You just have to phone them.

lol come one dude

Sorry, this is something inherited from my conversation with my colleagues, no agenda.

Here, have a pic of gears of war UWP to calm your blood thrist.

Ugh, am I really seeing the M$ stuff again, what is the point every company is here to make money. I'll be testing this port quite soon as well.

Yeah, yeah, sorry.

Edit: It's official, I dont know how to put a img in spoiler tags.

MS tends to give refunds, even if there is a no refund policy. I got refunded 3 XB1 games in fact.

Oh you seem like a fun guy to have a conversation with, then.

That frame time graph is like a very fine fucking saw blade.

Very disheartening, I was excited for this game, it was supposed to tide me through to Dark Souls 3, back to Rocket League then.

What is going on here? Is the game rapidly switching between 30fps and 60fps?

I wonder if MS will refund my XB1 version and get me the PC one

edit: damn my account sharebro would lose access. fuck it ill ride out this XB1 version

This is what I'm currently debating right now. I haven't even installed the xb1 version yet or downloaded it. I only pre ordered it for the pc copy and we still don't even have it.

Yep the frame pacing issues on that Titan X stream were absolutely atrocious. Happened everytime the camera was moved. Not surprised at all.

Damn, seems anything Xbox related is full of fuckery for this gen. I really wonder what the fuck they are thinking and how could they get so many things wrong time and time again. If you know the game is not up to snuff on pc delay it, not like it hasn't been done before.

Pretty much expecting the same thing to happen to Gears 4 at this point. This is disappointing all around man.

Few points from the PCGH.de article:

-Promising tech
-Looks good sometimes - especially when not in motion
-Feels bad even with high end cards at 30fps (1080p)
-Framedrops
-AMD/Nvidia both same (bad) performance
-Blurry image quality – seems to render at a lower resolution
-Aggressive LOD

Finally able to pop back in this thread and see that the peformance issues are cataclysmic. Disappointing day.

Since you can't turn Vsync off, it could be dropping that much constantly.

Well, the first mistake was responding to Sony switching to GDDR5 by adding the ESRAM. That and a wealth of bad business decisions keep following them.

But it's the vision Remedy had for the game, should they change it just because they released on PC?

Keep in mind that they released a 720p 30fps in 2016 on xbone, so it's not like that is Pc only, they simply had a vision for the game and decided to go with it.

The game has already a very cgish look on xbone, I can only assume cranking up the res on Pc it's only going to look better. It's not the most sharp looking game at all, but it does a heck of an job coming close to the filmic look they went for.

If they are gonna force reconstruction, they should atleast be clear about what the res settings actually mean.

When someone chooses 1080p, that's what they want the native resolution to be, not the temporally upscaled output.

I'm guessing things will be better by Gears 4. Killer Instinct was a good port and I would hope the annoying UWP stuff will be sorted out by the time Gears 4 comes out. Quantum Break seems obviously rushed. Xbox One stuff hasn't been bad lately, though. It's mainly the Windows 10 stuff that has been an issue of late.

Still, I'm pretty annoyed with the way unfinished games seem to be pushed out under Phil Spencer. Halo: MCC on XB1 and now Gears Ultimate and Quantum Break on Win 10 are all games/ports that could have cooked for a bit longer. He needs to not let this stuff happen.

At this point I'm praying for an updated Xbox or that they move on to the next thing pronto if even the pc ports carry the stink of their failures.

I'm just disappointed, I thought the game would be 1080p on Xbox, all the DX12 mumbo jumbo made me think the pc version would be decent too.
But yeah Killer Instinct is fine now yeah, especially considering the game initial woes with black crush and low res.

It really seems like the PC version of the game - the performance, the UWP situation, everything - may well wind up hurting even the Bone version sales-wise. Hope it isn't the case, though.

At this point, it seems like codes haven't started going out at all yet, right?

Why would the PC version hurt the XB1 sales again? I'mma need you to post receipts.
