Cronos the New Dawn was the highlight for me. But Square Enix new action-rpg looked really good too as well as Monster Hunter Stories 3. P3 Reload and Outlaws is nice to have too on a rainy day.

Unfortunately the Direct was filled with lots of filler trash that nobody gives a fuck about. FF7 Remake and Elden Ring still missing in action but I suspect Nintendo wants to give those games the spotlight in a proper Direct.

Unless you are a Switch 2-only owner, you would never want to play Cronos on the Switch 2. It will definitely run so much better on a XSX and PS5. It's going to be this way for the whole Switch 2 lifespan (just like Switch). Will always be a few steps behind the big boys as far as higher end tech goes.

I have a PS5 but I'm still gonna play Cronos on Switch 2. I want the hybrid setup and I don't mind the performance hit. Gameplay footage looked great.
 
Glad I didn't watch this live tbh. Only the HD-2D announcements were worthwhile for me.

Uncharacteristically weak direct.

Being able to play it on the train or plane is a massive plus for me.

Stuff like EAFC, if its decent that is, absolutely is a buy on S2 over other systems for me for example.

New and (supposedly) improved console, but still same old Nintendo.
 
So bad. The only cool thing was a new Katamari.
 
Definitely E, but I couldn't give less of a shit. For me, Nintendo consoles are purely vehicles for their own 1st party games, been that way at least since the Wii.

I'm definitely down with open world Star Wars. I'll judge for myself.
 
D and only that high due to Square and Capcom, but nothing I will buy. I'd have liked more on Ff7remake (date), some upgrades / ports of decent switch games (ace combat would be nice). As is this would put me off buying a switch 2 if I hadn't already got one.

Only things that grabbed me were Octopath Traveler 0 (loved the last one), and The Adventures of Elliot that looks like an action/rpg version of that which I'm cool with.

I still need to give Monster Hunter Stories a shot, but otherwise I was hoping for more...like something from Monolith Soft.

A solid C. Good to get more Yakuza games. I'm excited about a new Katamari, Octopath 0, and the other new 2D-HD game from Square.
 
Finally watched it. I give it a D. Everything outside of the the Octopath Traveler 0 and Adventures of Elliot were a waste of time, imo.

people only want to watch what they want, they didn't care about things they didn't like.
I think it's still fine, and 3 games are fine for me. MHS3, and two octos are cool for those who loves RPG.
 
I feel like Nintendo really needs to bring the first party this time around( which isn't really a concern). Third party ports dropping on Switch 2 aren't the novel concept they were when 'impossible ports' like Doom 2016, Witcher 3 and Skyrim hit the original Switch. All this stuff they showed today would have likely gotten a bigger reception when the equivalent releases were launched on Switch 1 years ago, instead of the general 'meh' feeling nowadays. I think my brain is watching this Switch direct and thinking 'ok all this third party shit I can buy on PS5 or my Legion Go, what's the release date for Metroid Prime 4? When's the next 3D Mario coming?'
 
I'll simply say that, as someone who is having a Switch 2 delivered on Saturday, this did nothing to make me more excited. Then again I won't use Switch 2 for the vast majority of third party games anyway, so I wasn't needing much out of it, so I just read about it and moved on unaffected by it in any way.

When it comes to their own in house game Directs, however, then I'll need a good showing to keep me interested.
 
Shockingly bad. So bad that I'm pretty concerned about the state of game development on the Switch 2. Apparently Nintendo got the dev kits out late to many developers, and I think we are seeing the repercussions of that.

Everything I'm excited for coming out on Game-Key Cards makes me want to bump it back down to a D. These things are poison to physical collectors.
 
C or B:
- a few games I don't plan to play but know many people do (MHS3 being the strongest)
- update on Hyrule Warriors
- some ports I really wanted on Switch (Persona 3 Reload)
- a surprise here or there (Cronos!)

Of course, there are also disappointments:
- doesn't seem any of the third party games have any form of exclusivity
- Octopath 0 sounds like a beefed up port of the mobile game
- I will check that Elliot game but I prefer my retro rpgs to be turn based
- no Metaphor or Expedition 33.
 
I think change my Rate C to B because I just play The Adventure of Elliot demo and fuck me this game is GOOOD!
 
F for fuckin awful.

I'm fine with it though, as I don't have a Switch 2 yet and I don't need tons of great games making me sad I can't afford it right now lol.

Agreed. When Switch was the only game in town for portable gaming, then there was a good reason to play third party multi-platform games on that underpowered system.

Now that we have Steam Deck + tons of other PC handhelds + soon Xbox/Playstation handhelds, Nintendo is back to being a "first party only" platform for me.

Actually looks relaxing, but I'd prefer to have something like that as a game mechanic in Animal Crossing.
