Have you killed the vampire? It’s The room before the vampire.
I somehow missed that whole staircase. I definitely don't play 1st person a ton lol. Im there now. Thanks.

FYI switching stick speed to slow fixed the rapid swing you complained about.

Ngl it took me a few minutes running all around, going in and out of exits, trying to find the staircase down too.
Funny that when I had the stick speed slow it felt all jittery turning. Maybe I had motion blur too low when I was trying it. Shame they couldn’t even get an performance mode in even if it couldn’t hit 60fps as I would have loved to use VRR and would happily take anything higher than 30fps

Playing on PC via PC Gamepass. Finished the Fire Station mission, tried to quit the game, and it froze mid exit. Had to do a hard restart of my PC. Game was running smooth until then.

Got to play like an hour on a 3080.

Set to 1440p epic all settings. Runs great. Tried 4k but then the game has stutters.

Also, don’t alt tab this game. Forces it into windowed small screen state and you can’t fix it without restarting.

Otherwise I was really enjoying it so far on hard mode.

Definitely not seeing the immersive sim in this so far. . .can you even pick up items?

Game definitely needs a patch pass as well, as I'm getting some odd performance - can do 3K/60FPS on Epic, but there's definitely some frame-timing issues and some really odd graphical bugs - like the game goes all aliased changing resolution.

. . .still though, the big negative so far is that I'm not quite seeing the ARKANE sauce here. So far its just a hero shooter.

Just cleared my first Neighborhood, beat its vampire boss... and it was kind of awful? It was a vampire with a rotating segmented shield that could only hit you if you're in LoS, so I played ring around the rosie with a support pillar in the basement he spawned in, popped him with my revolver when I could, and it was over 30 seconds later.

I'm kinda curious about where the overarching story is going but the horrific enemy AI is going to make this a rough journey. Just what is going on with Arkane and its AI lately? I remember Deathloop's AI was incredibly dumb as well.

God I hate non standard HDR settings, I have zero idea what the peak brightness is. There is a slider for brightness, but at zero it’s too bright and have no idea what is is defaulting to.

I enjoyed the intro. The game shines when you're in close quarters with a flashlight. The open world doesn't seem to add anything really and is pretty empty. Game has some major texture issues and jank but the actual gunplay feels pretty good. Playing the raven guy. Wish you had more powers. So far it seems like an average game with technical issues. I've played a lot worse.

Horrendous AI (some of the worst I've encountered in a game), game looks just bleh in so many spots, guns all feel the same and the loot really doesn't matter, bugs, completely meh quests.

A lot of the reviewers mentioned how uninspired it felt and I can feel that for sure….

Godspeed to those who keep going, this ain't it for me.

Uninstalled and ain’t looking back.

Played for hour and half. Beat the first main mission and went through the “settling in” bit. Heading towards the helicopter crash

Had zero expectations. Also… yes… it’s not a pretty game and could easily run on an XBone or Switch imo

But the combat isn’t bad and it’s kinda spooky and vampires are cool. Music is funky.

It’s been a fun 90 minutes and I’ll definitely play more later.

Played the first mission, stumbled upon a pack of three vampires and some cultists and died en route to the second mission. Game world and character models and lore items you pick up just ooze Arkane.

Hated the pistol gunplay but the shotguns I have gotten feel great. I started on Series X while the game downloaded on my PC. Feels fine at 30fps but will feel way better on PC at 60+ or whenever console gets 60.

Game seems solid so far, will have to get further in to experience more and also need to try the co-op. I know they said you can play and enjoy the game entirely in single player but it seems like it’s designed for co-op.

I spent a couple hours with it and the more I think about it, the more I compare it to other games that do these gameplay elements better.

Outbreak, the open world zombie mode in Black Ops: Cold War. Scavenging in Redfall's quaint and empty setting actually feels a lot like it but without the COD polish and gunplay.

The tension from fighting hordes of zombies that mindlessly come after you is much more compelling gameplay-wise than tension built through stealth to avoid clueless cultists and vampires that do the same evade-leap-swipe attacks.
Variety of guns and unlocking abilities/upgrades is also more frequent and rewarding.

State of Decay 2 is another game where you scavenge towns plagued by human and formerly human threats that I think has better gunplay than Redfall. It has more emphasis on survival with things like hunger, crafting, and resource management, BUT you can modify the game settings to greatly reduce the importance of these game elements and play it more like an apocalyptic looter shooter.

It's hard to find positive things to say about this game in it's current state but I'm open to spending some more time with it to unlock more of these Overwatch-like abilities from the Dead by Daylight-looking skill web.

Initial impressions. Looks like a good Xbox One X game, as in nice but not really next gen. Framepacing is saving the 30fps as it's solid which is relief, both on Series X and S.
Liking the combat once I got controls adjusted, level 2 sensitivity and default speed, although needs more tweaking.
Shooting is very satisfying as is staking and some nice storytelling to be found as well as useful abilities so you can approach situations differently.
Loving the atmosphere so far and haven't seen any glitches the day one patch seems to have sorted most stuff shown in previews. Fast loading and smooth, so enjoyable so far but nothing special.

I'm going to give it a go but I have dobts it will hold my attention now. I think Dead Island 2 deserves my money for my co op fix. Just wish it was on steam.

If you think you'd like an Arkane take on Far Cry with a bit of Destiny then that's what you'll get. It's nothing like Left 4 Dead at all.

I like the seetting from what I played but, major oof, the game has so many annoying issues. I have tolerated and actually enjoyed my share of jank over the years but I just can’t deal with a fast paced first person shooter at sluggish 30 fps. Will return in a year or so but something tells me they won’t fix it like they did F76.

Spent more time playing the PC version, it’s not bad but it’s true it lacks a bit of ambition and creativity. The best part is the map exploration (although it seems the map isn’t that huge) and the vampire fights.

The talent trees are really boring and don’t really change the playstyle, it’s just more damage, more range, lower cooldowns etc.

The loot so far isn’t as significant as in Borderlands or other shlooters, same with the trinkets but I’ve only got a few so far.

On the bright side the PC version runs pretty good, a mix of Medium / High and DLSS balanced runs without any problem.

WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING WITH THE GEOMETRY WHILE SPRINTING?

edit: playing the first mission, I'm already fucking done with it.
how can a game, as badly designed as this, be by the same people that made Prey?

It might be just a company name now but there might be majority of devs are completely different people.

This game needed another year in the oven.
Nah, better to release this turd now, look at the reception and learn from your mistakes... oh who am I kidding, they'll probably keep chasing after that gaas money until someone says enough and shuts Arkane down.

Sign of the times in the world of gaming more and more half-baked products are coming out....From Cyberpunk, to e-football, to Star Wars to this....ACG telling it how it is with this game:

After 4hrs, I appreciate the environment and the story telling they do through it. As others have pointed out, the skill tree doesn’t really offer anything new although there is a hidden branch that isn’t revealed yet that could be interesting.

Honestly, I’d be more accepting of this game for what it is if it was shadow dropped at a mid range price instead of being teased for as long as it was and being the start of $70 price tags for XGS games.

I've played it for around 1 hour, finished the first story mission, did a little bit of exploring. Killed some humans, killed some vampires. Shooting feels good. AI is non-existing.

What can I say, immersive sim it is not... It's crazy how far Arkane has strayed from its roots. Production values are laughable at times. No animated cut-scenes in your shooting adventure game? Really? Definitely doesn't feel like a 70 bucks game but I think it will be well worth the 10 bucks for 1 month of Game Pass fee.

Despite all of that I'm actually looking forward to play some more in the evening.

Agreed. I honestly had fun with it but its at best an average AA game. Shooting feels good though. The only real issues I had were ugly textures and empty open world. Its not the worst game I've ever played. Feels like a 7 so far but -1 for technical issues. Still early but I'd probably land on a 6. But I like 7/10 games. Some people think that's unplayable I guess.

I think you nailed it though. The marketing hurt it. Similar to Deathloop actually.

Beat the first mission. The 30FPS on Xbox gave me a headache. I'm done. Still no news when the 60FPS patch will land?

Died a couple more times on the second mission but finally beat it. AI ranges from laughably horrible to quite competent if you get enough cultists grouped up. Vampires so far have always been solid. Found some assault rifles, which feel great to shoot, some sniper rifles, and a UV ray gun, which seems super weak. It seems like it’s maybe designed to be used in tandem with other players shooting the vampires.

Need to find some good controller settings. What have you people been using?

Enjoying the game so far. Seems like a solid 7.

Yeah this is annoying as all hell. Just give us some damn numbers.

Yeah, I've always been a big fan of Arkane stuff and this has gripped me right from the beginning so I'm happy enough with it so far. Probably not doing the game justice as I've got most of the settings on medium and playing about 40fps on my ancient potato.

Anyone playing this on PC with a controller just find the snappiness sucks? There's something going on with controller input that just doesn't feel good.

Any fucking feedback on visuals would be nice but ARKANE just doesn't do that in any games.

The UV gun is a life saver in the Vampire Nests, you can petrify a couple at a time.

First off the game is literally unplayable on the controller in default medium sensitivity. Did one mission, crazy pop-in and textures loading in a game that looks like it could run on a 360. Bugs, going to map menu and back broke all baked reflections in an area... at one point I found a tower viewer over the city landscape and using it showed me a blurry black texture... No thanks.

I've had some hopes for it since I really liked Prey, somehow from the same team.

Feels like an alpha pushed out the door.

Imagine last year this was a 2023 headliner for the Xbox.

I just did the initial firehouse run and will now be heading out to try and grab the supplies. I find it fun, the cultists certainly aren't the brightest bulbs, but It is still enjoyable. I'm naturally just bad at FPS, lol, so it takes me a while to really feel the controls (same with Far Cry and similar games for me). Stepped on an electrical wire and killed myself by mistake, going to need to watch out for the environmental hazards more.

I'm hoping they add K&M support, I thought I remember reading where that was going to be supported on Xbox. Though I didn't find the controller unusable at all, the default blur and visual settings keep the 30fps feeling ok.

I think this is the first game I’ve ever played that’s made me feel physically sick from how juddery it is.

What are you playing it on?

I was afraid of that myself because some FPS games are just unplayable for me as they trigger a motion sickness type feeling (RE7 and Deathloop I just couldn't get into because of that). I didn't notice any jarring stutter on XSS so far, though I have basically just done the tutorial mission.

Series X. Can’t get a motion blur setting to feel anyway decent. Aiming is insanely heavy with horrible dead zones, and the 30FPS is a huge issue. I don’t think 60fps is the easy fix either. Game has so much more issue than that.

What's people's performance like on pc?

I have a 3070 and x5800 and the game doesn't run good for me that I'm happy with, playing in 1440p.

I'm averaging between 55 to 65 but you get spikes and stutters. Have dlss set to performance and everything else mainly on medium. Game looks like ass, not sure why it's so demanding.
