Recent discoveries from a UI designer's portfolio suggest the new project may involve a third-person shooter with military themes.

There are indications of game mechanics involving customization, ranking systems, and advanced weaponry, hinting at a modern military setting.

So it could be something.... or nothing

This looks pretty old IMO but I'm down for either Syphon Filter or SOCOM but would prefer SOCOM. I just don't know if Bend is the right team for it.

The inclusion of that overrated pointless junk that is the Vector also points me to this being quite old as it's not really popular anymore. I always hated that thing. Overdesigned and overrated SMG that never got any actual widespread usage outside of some third world countries. SMGs are nearly useless in modern usage due to SBRs being superior in nearly every way outside of policework where over penetration could be an issue.

/rant I just hate that fucking thing.

Sorry if you are from the like 4 countries that wasted money on that piece of shit.

This is just mockup painted over Days Gone, so pretty sure it's from 2020 max, so you can't draw any possible conclusions here, really.

Ugh, imagine going from already not original zombies to full military crap.

Days gone 2 died for this stuff??

I would sacrifice Days gone, Syphon Filter, new God of War, and TLOU ever coming back for a new SOCOM.

Wipeout and SOCOM are the two franchises I want back the most from Sony.

More power to you, I find standard military stuff the most boring shit ever, the 2 division games are the only games where i skipped cutscene in 35 years of gaming (if we don't incoude veilguard's traash trans cutscenes) and i haven't bought a cod\battlefield in like more than a decade or so.

You must have absolutely godlike, state of the art gunplay\gore to make me play military stuff like it was with kz2 (but that one was hardly standard military stuff, the whole helgast lore was great)

Oh look, another cinematic third person over-the-shoulder bloated open world game with ten minute forced walking sections incoming. Yawn.
Just thought I experienced one massive deja vu reading this.. but not the case.

Likely another Sony First Party over the shoulder third person "cinematic" game with 10 minute forced walking sections,

At least we have lost the:

pretentious writing and a one legged, double-chinned, overweight lesbian as the protagonist.

So far.

Third person military shooter with Sony production values could be, especially if it goes for a realistic or immersive tones

That won't be enough to make it stand out in the market. A GAAS being a prettier looking version of an existing GAAS won't do anything. We already saw that with Concord, and that also suffered from generally mediocre (some horrid) character designs.

“Oh boy! Crafting!” - No one ever

Those screenshots give me Syphon Filter vibes though. So why not just make a new SF.

Maybe it is SF? I don't have a lot of attachment to that IP myself but I know a lot of people want it to come back.

This is an old AF prototype judging by the looks of it, but overall I won't mind The Division with Sony production values.

How would that stand out in the market though? Concord was basically Overwatch with Sony production values...lived and died in six weeks.

It needs a strong unique gameplay hook and somewhat competent character designs too. Not that it's a hero shooter, but if it's a futuristic military FPS-themed game I don't think you can sell a sniper in a grandpa wheelchair with pink hair when cyber leg implants would exist.

I'd say it's a little early to assume it'll have a generic military setting (in the COD sense) going just by a couple of early screenshots featuring graybox levels and very preliminar UI concepts.

For all we know, it could be post-apocalyptic, sci-fi or espionage-themed given how little meat there's in this bone. The only certainty is that it definitely has a The Division feel to it based on all the mechanics hinted at by the UI design.

Syphon Filter?
Fuck Socom, I want Syphon Filter back with modern day Sony AAA production values.

Days gone 2 died for this stuff??
Days Gone 2 never died because never existed and wasn't even pitched by Bend to PS Studios/Sony. In the same way that Bend decided to make a new IP after Days Gone, they may also decide to make Days Gone 2 after this new IP.

And these images are supposed to be from an early prototype, games look like that at this point of early development. Regarding the theme or setting, the images or weapon names only have placeholders. This could even end being an anime scifi or fantasy shooter with dinosaurs.

At that early point of development they only have ugly functional placeholders to start having something moving there independently of how it looks.

New Hermenslop just dropped
Most Sony studios who released a game under Hermen it became their best selling game ever. In 4 of his 5 years he released a game that broke Sony's game sales records. Their first party games combined also sell more games than ever and win more awards/get more nominations than ever, and almost every year they are the company with more nominations and games nominated.

I hope its a new Socom
It isn't. Bend is working in a new IP instead.

Sure, but i don't want something ala division from bend tbh.

They said that they were using all the knowledge from days gone from their new game but days gone and division are pretty different games.
