They would need just 4m units in 2013 to make a good worldwide launch. Less than that if Europe is delayed until February/March 2014 (likely). Also it's unlikely that the product will go into mass production before August. They'll probably have the final prototype around E3.

Lol kidding. Of course we didn't. To sum up: the original source of the 12-16 report from Digitimes in March was an anonymous forum post from someone claiming to be a supplier for PS4 components. Obviously Sony have never given a target for anything.

The irony is that it's not even bad news - the rumour is so crazily out of whack that if Sony weren't able to hit that absurd mark it would still mean the PS4 launch was about the biggest thing in forever. This "bad news" coming to pass would mean outrageous success lol.
