Use the PlayStation app on your phone, if you have one. I find it a better place to buy stuffs. Orrrr maybe the game isn't available yet in your country? (Germany I suppose?)

Really enjoying this so far. Not had any hitbox issues. Combat feels meaty and responsive. First boss took three attempts, but easy once I'd figured out how to beat him.

I'm going Demon's Souls on this. Not reading up anything about classes, items, bosses or areas. I figured I've missed out on an item when I chose 'none' but that's OK. Strength build so far with a +2 mace. Two hit kills the opening enemies with a lovely, bass heavy thud each time I swing it.

What the fuck is with the Bronze Knight under the Village of Smiles? Parry and riposted the guy like 5 times and he won't go down.

Got to ask: how does the crystal ball works? I can't use it in the first sanctuary while it says in its description to do so... So confusing.

Those are like the Black Knights of the game. They don't respawn and a lot of them drop equips.

I could be wrong, but this game seems to be like Demon's Souls in that damage type (pierce/slash/strike) seems to matter. I remember taking it down in 2 ripostes with a soldier's spear.

Not Germany, The Netherlands. ;)
And it shows up as released.
I had this issue but could buy it from the New Releases section on the PS4 with the big ad/picture for the game.
That worked!
Thanks for the responses. :)

Yeah, i took him down with 2 with my big greatsword i found in a chest. Feel very overpowered atm. cant wait to go back and play tonight.

Enjoying it a lot so far, about 1 hour in.
Only big negative for me is that you can't use the d-pad to control your character.
I think it wouldn't be a problem to offer a d-pad mode: They could solve the walking/running problem by having you hold down a button to walk slowly.

Uhh. Just got my first "brand". Now there's a mechanic that couldn't be done in 3D Souls (apart from the constant jumping, of course).

Can't wait to see more.

Finished the game at 19:11:32. Though there are areas i didn't explored and bosses which i haven't killed. Loved it! Now is the time for a new character and NG+... And i need to complete my review too.

Seeing videos of people playing as other classes I feel thief might not have advantages unless the increase of dexterity is also increasing invincibility frames on dodges or something. You can probably attack faster but when you can't send big bosses flying in the air for the air combo you're limited to fairly low dps. I won't start a new game obviously I'll stick with thief and see where it goes.

I'll play a bit more tonight but my work keeps me so busy I'm usually tired as fuck after it and don't wanna do more than maybe an hour tops of game.

As for the person who mentioned the devs are looking into bigger text, that's great news. Reading items was genuinely a strain in my eyes this was Witcher 3 all over again.

This is game is ripping off Souls like an absolute art and it's wonderful. Hell they are doing the Dark Souls 1 intertwining environments better than Dark Souls 2 did. I was seriously impressed at the catacombs at the banquet opening that door by the first sanctuary.

Not sure of the spoiler etiquette for this, so I'll mark it just in case. (first two bosses)
Was Queen of Smiles easier than Sodden Knight for anyone else? Sodden took me a few but Smiles was down in one.

I'm gonna assume people simply haven't updated the wiki because as of right now it's saying that only one covenant sells daggers, which is a bit silly. I'm gonna make the assumption that until you reach assassin/thief level 2 and can get better daggers you simply won't see them.

Hm? Options button on controller -> move cursor to Gear icon -> End game.

Guess I didn't realize there was more than inventory on the right side of screen. The left side you use L2 and R2 to scroll through the 3 categories and on the right side there's nothing to scroll with.

Thanks.

Queen of Smiles
was super easy. Her rage pattern was actually even easier since you could just block most stuff and poke away at her. I imagine she would be harder without a shield.

Also started using a Spear as my main after Amethyst mentioned it, got the Claymore in my second load out spot. So good.

I really wish I could see the stat requirements on weapons. I have no idea how many points to put in Dex and Str until I can use the Haymaker. Then it's back to the magic route all the way. Lighting is melting down the game so far.

Started as thief aswell, and i have to agree. The possible speed increase in dealing blows, doesn't really seem to offset the low dps daggers do. At least in the beginning of the game.

Upgraded the dagger to +2 but dps seems terribly low as of yet.

It's a Class 1 Reaper so you need the Class 1 Pikeman skill to use it.

As far as I understand they're not tied to stats, as long as you have the corresponding class skill unlocked in the tree then you can use it.

Started playing last night and I really enjoyed what I played so far: beat the Sodden Knight after a few tries, it's both refreshing and amazing how Ska Studios managed to recreate Soulsborne games in a 2D environment, so goood!
Only complaint I have is the translation, which is awful, like really awful: it's difficult to even understand what's going on, seems to me they put original text in Google Translate and call it a day. Really hope they patch this because it's unbearable.

Not that it's acceptable to have to do so but clearly your English is decent enough to play in English.

I can't wait to get home and play! I don't know why I torture myself browsing gaf all day.

Yeah, if I had known it was so broken I would have chosen English right from the start: I'll try if I'm still able to switch language without losing my current build/save.

Fourth(?) boss
Whereas Mad Alchemist is of course a total fucking cheat. Is there any way to dispatch the blobs easily?

Edit:
Basically broke his AI to win.

Ok, I couldn't find the Reaper skill in the grid haha. Now I got the Pikeman Skill...and it removed one bar from the red X on the weapon when I try to equip it. I'm guessing that I really need the stats for it now.

I'm still unsure wether to buy this or not. One one hand, i do want a soulsfix until dks3 releases. On the other, i don't want to play a game that built it's entire foundation on "yo check this game just like souls ;DDDD".

In the same boat. The Souls nerd in me says 'buy buy buy' but I find it kind of tacky at the same time. Besides that, I'm not a fan of the art style at all.

Are the controls and overall feel of the game rather 'tight'? That's what'll ultimately make or break it for me.

Yes, the controls are tight. Inputs can't be mashed, everything has to be methodically pressed. Parrying attacks has a very narrow window. Rolling has to be done precisely.

The 2D nature of this game along with the Dishwasher pedigree makes it feel pretty darn unique despite being totally 2D Souls in design.

I'm really impressed!

First 5 bosses down mostly second or third try. I am 3 hours in. Really enjoying it so far. World seems huge and beautifully connected and I even found some secrets.
Cannot confirm the hitbox problems. Game is kinda brutal and I lost more than 10k salt overall. The gold loss after each death is making me broke.
So far an awesome experience and truely a 2D soulslike.

Was Queen of Smiles easier than Sodden Knight for anyone else? Sodden took me a few but Smiles was down in one.

Was the exact opposite to me all sodden knight kept doing was electric attack then try and hit me in air when i jumped it so he went down first try.

Queen of smiles made me go grind, she hit me like a truck and broke my guard so easily.
arcane paper on my sword melted her life bar in the end. Feel like starting again as a mage. I already avoided one covenant because i had no idea what it did but i cant even remember where i found it now. Game needs a map. quite easy to lose bearings compared to a 3D game like souls which i learn really easily especially when there is no landmarks as such. I'm sure ill get there in the end.

First Boss down. I'm surprised just how much of Dark Souls is in in this game. I mean, I knew it was inspired by it but I intentionally kept myself in an information blackout and was hit when I saw the message bottle mechanic.

I'm at the second shrine...debating whether to take the oath to unlock the trophy or just roleplay my character as someone who's devout to the first sanctuary. Aaaah, I missed these little Souls moments. :P

Just bought and remote downloaded from work. Now to get home later today and actually try it out. Looks like it is right up my alley!

Kraekan Wyrm
down. First boss to give me any real trouble. Given that I'm shieldless and not wearing heavy armor, this was freaking rough. I only used 2 heals when I finally got it down, but I don't feel like I won the fight at all; I feel like I just got lucky.

In the skill tree, can you skip over Class 1 and go straight to buying Class 2? If so, does skipping C1 prevent you from using C1 items?

Totally fucking lost in Sunken Keep.

There is a ledge that is clearly meant to be grabbable but it wont climb on it. Other routes are shortcuts to later areas.

After the
Jester
boss in Sunken Keep, if you keep going up and to the left, you'll get something that will give you the power to
walk on ceilings if you hit circle at the black obelisks
scattered around different areas. You need it to move on, and if you backtrack you can grab a bunch of loot you couldn't before.

This game fucking sucks. The hitboxes are awful. The telegraphing is incredibly inconsistent, sometimes huge wind-ups that take eternity and other times instant combos that would have been impossible to see coming. The character movement is terribly broken, like randomly not being able to roll through bosses/enemies for no god damned reason. It's way too easy to get pinned against a wall and then have an enemy infinite you to death, especially thanks to the aforementioned broken as fuck rolling. Difficulty is completely random depending on if the enemies decide to do a really easy attack or a five-string ultra combo thanks to some invisible dice roll.

But hey at least I got to put fun blue hair on my character.

edit: I stand by my first impression but the game does get better if you're more patient.

THE SALT IS REAL

Can anyone chime in about the co-op implementation? Does it make the game too easy, is the atmosphere better experienced solo, etc.? I'm debating if I want to do my first run through with another Souls fan or not.

Haven't even found a Jester. I'm guessing it's near the area sanctuary but the only route I haven't checked fully is up-left and that's the ledge I can't get on.

Man this looks great, but I'm not too big on indy styled games. One important question for those who've been playing, does the difficulty feel like it does in SoulsBorne titles? Or does it come off as difficult for the sake of being difficult? I hate cheap difficulty!
