SDCC: Last of Us movie announced.

The perfect Joel imo. He was great in AHS.

(Sorry. On mobile)

OP really needs to be edited with accurate information.

Also Joel/Ellie's actors really do not need to look very similar to the video game characters.

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about the Bruce Campbell part.

I can actually picture him playing a broken down older man father figure type but i'm not so sure if he can pull off the straight faced drama his character needs.

He did it really well in Bubba Ho-tep, which was a very poignant anf deep movie, once you get passed the whole elderly Elvis with a growth on his pecker and elderly black JFK (RIP Ossie) fighting a mummy in an east Texas seniors home.

And BC in this movie would be amazing!

What's wrong with her? The only concern is that she can't pull of an American accent or she gets too old by the time production rolls around.
My concern is that it feels like a fan-service casting popularising on the popularity of Game of Thrones.

I just don't see how she'd be good for it, at all.

Campbell being in it was a joke, OP fell for it and your info is based on OP. Enough talking?

The news of this movie just reminded me, isn't the AC movie supposed to release next May? And we haven't seen ANYTHING from it?

The movie audience already has The Road.

Which was an adaptation of something from one type of media into another type of media. Just like.....THE LAST OF US THE MOVIE!

Besides, it's been a while since The Road came out. It's time for a reboot (Sony's really great at quick franchise reboots..look at Spider-Man
and look how bad it flopped
)

Also, if Sam Raimi is involved, Bruce Campbell will be in there somewhere. Maybe as a Clicker.

Gaah it's story is kind of trite and B movie at best.

lol, what. I can respect your opinion on the quality and uniqueness of the story (on a plot/theme level). But I disagree strongly on the style/tone. Nothing about the Last of Us is B-movie.

I think Raimi being director is a poor choice for this movie.

EDIT: okay he's producing, not directing.

Im sorry, but "The Road" book was not a visual story, you can't compare the two. Games and film are both visual.

Alfonso Cuarón should direct this since Raimi appears to be on board strictly as a producer. His work on Children of Men was brilliant.

Sorry guys. Edited. I just literally posted this the moment it was announced and wanted to get this out to gaf while it was breaking. It drained my battery trying to get through and my phone died very soon after.

Wow, so this is officially a thing now. Crazy. Sign me up for the Jackman train. After seeing Prisoners I absolutely think he's be a great fit for Joel, he has the raw physicality and range for the role

I'm not sold. Finding someone for the action scenes is the easy part. Finding someone to connect with during the emotional scenes is the tough sell. Haven't seen Prisoners but Hugh Jackman is not an actor I think of when I think emotional connection with the audience.

You can put a beard on anyone to fit the look.

People doubted him at first, but turned out pretty well. Same applies to her.

Not going to lie, I'm getting stick of Ledger being used as an example for shit like this.

Maisie is a fine actress, I'm sure she could pull of a lot of interesting roles, but I don't think Ellie is one of them. My opinion.

Casting aside, who would be the perfect person to direct this movie?

That's a tough one. Might sound like an odd choice but Danny Boyle, and not just because he did 28 Days Later. He's a very versatile director who is good at getting the most out of both young and old actors/actresses. His films have a very distinct visual style and pacing to them as well.

care to explain why you don't think she's up to snuff?

Good call.

Just watched Only Lovers Left Alive with Tom Hiddlestone so a completely left-field choice could be director Jim Jarmusch.

But The Last of Us already got a movie, it was released June 14th 2013!

First Uncharted gets a movie treatment, now TLOU? Gravity Rush movie when?
