He was supposedly an elite play making wr. Gets to Seattle and more or less does very little (even when healthy). Wussle or the seahawks OC or both couldn't take advantage of his skillset. Can they with graham (another injury prone player with talent)?

Was Russell the problem though? Might as well blame Kap for A.J Jenkins being a bust, but he was a 1st rd'er though.

AJ Jenkins rarely saw the field. Harvin was a starter

He was a first rd'er which means plenty of talented players available. It was a bust of a pick such as the Harvin trade turned out to be a bust. At least Harvin contributed in the superbowl, sure it was 10 million dollar+ return TD in a blow out game but he did something!

dude is the possibly the biggest clown in sports atm

i say throw him to a scrub ass team and watch his ass get bounced out of the league in 3 years

we'll see how "mature", "well-spoken", and "humble" he is when he's winning 5 games a year

No one in the NFL thinks he's a clown. No sports commentator, writer, or player has called him a clown. I think your own opinion is substituting for reality at the moment.

I think gauranteed money is what is holding up the deal, not the 21 mill a year number.

This man right here understands things. Dez had an offer from Dallas last season that was slightly higher in total dollars, but about half the guaranteed money. Only when Dez got half guaranteed cash did he sign.

The AAV doesn't mean crap if they can cut you within 3 seasons.

This. The guy practically lives at the Children's Hospital in Seattle. He does a lot of community work, but leave it to some idiot on the internet to call him a clown. Smh

I know and he's been to two super bowls during that period. And won one of them.

He straight up lucked his way into one of those two Super Bowls. He played like absolute dogshit against the Packers in the NFC Title Game and it took the Packers basically handing it to Russel in order for him to get that W.

$21 million baby!

...now that i see the play again ...that was either the best closest played pass defense of the year....or that was pass interference....

Russel Wilson can go play baseball and get money so might as well try to get that max pay, nfl can cut you at any time....i dont think he gon get it though unles he tightens up his game.

He hasn't done his best work in the biggest of games, but being in the position at all to be in championship games and Superbowls is still in large part down to him being an exceptionally composed QB on the regular. He is not an easily replaceable component of the current Seahawks success.

I'd go for the former rather than the latter. It's a bang-bang play and #21 plays it as perfectly as possible. Half a second late and that ball isn't intercepted. It really was an excellent defensive play.

Looks like pass interference from here. Receiver didn't even touch the ball before he was hit.

Defender has the right to play the ball just as much as the receiver. He took the step quicker and as a result got to the ball first.

Shit happened essentially at the same time. No foul. No one ever questioned its legitimacy at the time or even shortly after where you'd expect the biggest bitterness to arise.

Superbowl Champions.

For a bang-bang play that late, you'd think there would be some booth review by the refs.

Definitely was wondering why no booth review from the refs, but I have no stake for either team. It was a great game to watch.

What would a booth review accomplish? Refs aren't allowed to call a judgment penalty after a review. The process would only serve to see if #21 had possession of the football. They wouldn't be able to call an interference penalty.

I thought all turn overs were automatically reviewed already?

Because Butler didn't push anybody out of the way to get to the ball. He came in at the perfect time to get there pretty much at the same time they collided. Total fair play that wouldn't be looked at 9 times out of 10.

I appreciate that as time has passed more people have accepted what a great defensive play that was. Russell could have thrown the ball a little lower, they could have called time out, they could have switched the play, the receiver could have been more aggressive - whatever you think the Seahawks brought to that play the Patriots defense answered it perfectly. No one should take that credit away from them, least of all from Butler.

And as for Russell Wilson, of course, pay the man.

Not just that play, either. Butler was playing like an All-Pro corner that entire drive.

one of the dudes on NFL Insiders on ESPN said it might be worth Wilson to call the Seahawks bluff and playout his contract including being franchised twice.

Wilson would get 20mil for 2016 + 24mil for 2017...and then be a freeagent and could get a 60mil guaranteed from a new contract...be it with the Seahawks or another desperate team trying to make a tiny splash.

so about 100mil+ total guaranteed coming his way in 3 years. (when he starts his new contract.)

and of course he has injury insurance for these franchise tag years.

only thing he needs to do is continue playing at a mediocre level....and he will cash in from a desperate team.

Booth review of what? Both players went for the ball. Perfectly legal play. Brilliant catch.
