You're saying they should release a glorified demo. I doubt that would bump the game by even 10,000 sales (or even more than 1,000).

If they really wanted to reignite interest by targeting the casual audience would be to better explain what the new product (season 2) actually is to potential consumers.

They've fucked up royaly though as ultra David mentioned at psx by locking the moniker as "Street Fighter V".

I'd straight up "Rocket League-it" if you know what I mean. Just don't include any of the S1 and S2 characters.
 
Should be $60 to get everything imho. The base game bounces around $20-$40 as it is, even lower sometimes. Ain't nobody going to be excited about that when they passed on it already without some significant new features backing it up, not just mystery characters + Akuma.

If someone is paying more they should get more, but in this case they are paying Capcom extra money just to stop having their time wasted. If someone wants to pay for that, that's on them, but the game already doesn't have the content one would expect from a fighter in 2016. It's a crappy situation for the season pass holders and the ones who just have the base game. The thing is that paying to unlock content faster would not be bad if the game was free to begin with. Instead they charged you $60 and intentionally designed the game in a way that makes you so starved for content that you pay them another $20 to get more content drip fed to you over a year.

Steam sale starts tomorrow, I imagine it'll go down a bit more. PSN holiday sale is also on for another week or 2 so some of this stuff might get cheaper still.

I agree the price is BS though. Season 1 / 2 should be no more than 40 USD in a double pack right now (with season 2 being 25 USD by itself at most) and the base game should be only 20 USD. Basically, anyone that hasn't bought this game yet should be able to get everything for no more than 60 USD. And every year going forward that price can remain but more and more content is in there the longer you wait to buy , the trade off being that obviously you don't get to play the game for that entire year.

They don't care about casuals trying to get into this game anymore, they're not showing they do. This mode is for new owners/casual... hardcore will get the same for free.

SFIV was only for hardcore.

Wake me up when the definitive edition is out. Capcom is going to drag this to the ground with multiple updates and forcing the season pass on people for stuff that should've already been in the disc day 1.
 
Huh.. For some reason I thought all the character content in this game was free..

Well this sucks. Except I don't believe they'll be charging that much for the game with all the characters after awhile. I won't bite until I can get the game with all the characters for 20 bucks.

This bundle is pretty decent right now for PS4 in addition to a 20% coupon you can get via eBay or Sony email.

2016 Season Pass
- 6 dlc characters unlocked (Alex, Guile, Ibuki, Balrog, Juri, Urien)
- colours 1-10 default costume for said characters unlocked
- premium battle costumes for said characters
- Air Force Base Stage

2017 Character Pass (Akuma, Five Never Playable Before New to SF characters)
- 6 dlc characters unlocked

While the option to unlock via Fight Money is great, the characters are a massive timesink and colours are a pain in the ass to unlock (they require beating Survival mode Easy-Hard) and you are looking at this for a breakdown of FM:

1 character 100,000 FM x 12
1 premium stage 70,000 FM x 1
Dlc character default costume colour bundle 40,000 FM x 2

That's 1,350,000 FM to unlock all that stuff and that doesn't even include the pay only content in the premium costumes.

The double standard for Capcom is appalling because games with pay randomized lotto loot boxes get a free pass for criticism.

And what's the point for waiting when the game is "complete" when by the time that happens Capcom will already be preparing SF6 since they are really pushing for esports nowadays. SFV will be supported till 2020, and the time to play is now because it's when the most players are actually playing it and supporting it.

FPS games are applauded for microtransactions yet fighting games get tomatoes thrown at them, pretty shitty if you ask me.
 
I tried SFV when it first came out, got bored as I played it single player, returned it two days later.

I guess with a proper arcade mode it might be worth it, but knowing all the other stuff incoming, it's a weird feeling...I honestly would rather wait until everything's ready at 2020. :(

I suppose it's not so different from the SFIV rereleases though, at this point. Maybe I'll jump in when it's cheap.
 
i thought the base game will give you all future updates and characters and you don't need more

what are those character packs?
just cosmetics and different skins?
 
$60 is the right price for this. They should really just go f2p, though.

Context: I own SFV for both PC and PS4 and will be getting the S2 pass at first discount.

Edit: and yes to y'all who thought characters were free. They are. You can purchase them with earnable in game currency. For those that don't feel like doing that or would rather put theirs toward stages/cosmetics, there's the season pass.

To me, MKX never feels like a "finished product" -- much less so than SFV, actually. Character balance is always being messed with to what I consider an extreme and it's always a mess.

I throw tomatoes at any game with ludicrous season passes. What's worst about SF5 than, say MK X, is that X actually felt like a finished product whether you're a fan or not, SF5 on the other hand feels like the game is still on EA.
 
Whats everyone so moany about? this isnt some re-release its just a bundle of the main game plus character passes?

Pretty sure once they release Arcade mode and Dans Dojo or what ever it is plus get the next round of characters they will release a complete package that is maybe re-branded but totally compatible with the version that exists now.

Anyone wondering why you would buy these when you can use fight money clearly hasnt played the game enough. Here is a run down.

Playing the single player content alone you can pretty easily get about 600k fight money. Thats doing the normal main story mode, mini story modes for each char, everyones trials, and easy survival. That will get you 6 characters from 1 season. You can prob get to about 700k FM if you do main story on hard and then higher difficulties survivals. So you can possibly net one more character and maybe one stage.

After that its down to playing online Ranked / Casual matches to ean fight money. Thats 50 a win. Then you have the dailies and weeklies which might total about 7k FM. That shit porgresses slowly. Spending it on characters is the least efficient way to spend it. Buying a character with real money nets you there battle outfit and all colours for it and there main costume.

The best way to spend FM is on stages, all original casts primary outfit colours bundle maybe some banners and then story costumes for the characters you like.

If you are going to play this online its in your interest to own all the characters anyway because even thought I currently play Guile and Laura I need the other characters so I can practise against them when I play someone and encounter some tactics I couldnt beat at the time. I can throw on training mode and set the AI to do that move and practise against it.

Also the season pass works out at less that the individual price of the characters with is about £3.30 each. For that I get to play there story thing, do there survival and get to do there trials. Then later use them in Arcade mode when its out. Thats at least 2-3 hours of use on them anyway which seems OK for that price.

The Price of this bundle in the UK is actually £54.99 which is standard new game release price so it doesn't seem so bad.

I personally really like SFV but it still isn't in a place it is worth it for anyone only interested in the offline single player content. Once Arcade mode and Dans Dojo is out then that will be a different story. But if you like some single player stuff (I really like character trials for example) and love playing online then its a really fun game. Even to play casually. just either only play Casual matches or play ranked till you are at a comfortable rank and then stay on Casual and both modes take your rank into account.

Personally I just stay in super / Ultra bronze and play Casual as I just play for fun anyway. Don't like the stress of ranked modes to be honest.
 
Yeah if they are thinking of doing base game + dlc codes then i won't give a poop.
They need to do a re-release with all the characters and at least half the stages and costumes already in for me to care.

Impression is important, with the first they look like they are given the same old broken game (i know it's not broken, as i said it's the "impression") plus a couple of bonus with the latter instead it looks like they are actually giving you a final product that is rich of content and it works.
 
The lowest price I've seen the base game go is $20. The bundle gives you the game for that price and includes the two season passes.

It's not a fantastic deal by any measure but I don't see how it's highway robbery like people are making it out to be.

You can do Versus CPU, which is basically the same.

It's not? I had ranked match results fail to go through yesterday and the day before. It's 10 months into the game's life span, this really shouldn't be occurring anytime past the first few days of release at worst.

It really isn't. There is no progression in that and it isn't nearly as fun.
 
Capcom continues to overprice SF5 stuff I see.

I wasn't aware of that price point. I still don't think this is a terrible non-discount price point though. $20 puts it on par for the lowest price you'll generally see the base game at.

Having said that it's not a great price either, but it will go on sale and such. Overall I think the fact it's still missing arcade mode, the season passes don't include the stages and the game still has technical issues are more valid complaints.
 
I'm not a Street Fighter guy, but didn't Super SFIV come with 10 new characters and release for $40? Granted, I think it came out a little bit longer after the base game in comparison, but this seems like the antithesis of that, especially since they've touted not having to pay for new characters in V.
 
Capcom SFV pricing is horrible for less content, NOW you don't have to purchase anything, you can grind your brains out for FM, but this requires a ton of time and major patience, if you an early adopter, base game, S1, and S2 cost $120 for 28 characters 5 of those yet to be released, only 23 available right now, major SFV competition on the horizon Tekken 7 has 35 characters...

T7 base game 35 for $60.
SFV base game 16 for $60.

Even if you count all the palette swap characters in T7 they still have more characters at launch than SFV..

Akuma came out two days ago (new character)

and I didn't pay for him. You can earn every character for free.

Instead, we'll have a watered-down SSFW, but at DOUBLE THE COST! And we can release another one in a year and not get yelled at for calling it Ultra or Arcade or whatever! We can just call it 2018!

Surely this will print money and be the path to the game's revival.

I guess you won't be getting the game for another 5 years cuz that's not going to happen any time soon.
 
Would be nice to release a bundle with all the S1 + S2 stages, and different DLC costume packs. So they would be able to release a SFV 2017 Super Deluxe Champion Edition with:
  • Game
  • S1 + S2 characters season pass
  • S1 + S2 stages bundle
  • All S1 + S2 costume bundles
  • All S1 + S2 color bundles

Basically a digital version of this SSFV some people are asking for.

Regarding the arcade mode, data miners found it inside the PC game, and considering they will release an arcade version of the game this year, I bet they will include the arcade mode in the Season 2.

Again this isnt like a re-release. its simply the base game bundles with 2 season passes. I will use the UK store as thats where I am but this is no different to something like the COD and BF game and season pass bundles.

SFV with season 1 and 2 is £54.99
BF1 is £54.99 and the season pass is £39.99 There is no simple bundle of the two only:
BF1 ultimate edition (game and 1 season pass plus some other stuff) is £109.98

So if you think of it as some sort of super street fighter V edition I get the complaints but thats not what it is. Its just a simple bundle.

If you only want to pay a small amount for this game then you can find a physical copy of the base game pretty cheap and grind out the extra characters and stages you want. You can get 6 additional characters pretty easily. After that it becomes a grind.
