Silent Hill 2 remake (Bloober) image leak - PS/PC timed exclusive, post #56

I wonder what engine this will be on, as FOX is pretty outdated now. UE5 + Lumen? Those bright colorful screens sure do look like it and less Silent Hill, especially 2, even if it's just a pitch to be greenlit by Konami all those years ago. I don't trust Bloober at all, with any popular IP. Just let them do their own thing.

But, no matter how much we critique online, the deal's been inked already and the dev cycle is almost finished, with millions of dollars on the line, and first party being involved. It's just a matter of when now. There's no cancelling this shit now.

At least release a proper fucking unbroken remastered HD Collection, on modern platforms, Konami, you fucking cheapskates.

The images are fake as it lacks the dutch angle.

The what?

It gets a bit worse when you actually use the dates

The Medium was 28 Jan 2021 for initial release on Xbox.
Layers of Fear 2 was 28 May 2019.

That's like 20 months (too early for me) , rounding to 3 years is weird
While true, it's irrelevant.

Bloober Team staffed up big time after the success of Layers of Fear and had three separate teams working on Blair Witch, LoF2 and The Medium. Lest we forget The Medium was supposed to come out in December 2020 but was delayed.

This guy is just clueless and I was having a bit of fun with it:p

Unreal 5.

Going by their previous releases, they went from Unity to Unreal 4. I'm pretty sure Layers of Fears was announced as Unreal 5 as well.

Yeah, three years was an estimate which was wrong.

The gap is too big to be working on Medium at the same time as the other two.

From the screenshots, I'm sure that was the hospital, hotel, and one of the apartment buildings.

God, that bratty kid. Laura. She was very spiteful. :D

I don't get the hate on bloober, they do fantastic games with limited budgets, let's see why the can do with more Moy and support.

Thought as much lol
Nice troll.
You clearly don't think THAT much.
They released THREE GAMES IN 18 MONTHS. According to you, The Medium took three years to develop. Explain how that math works. Or, you know...just Google it. I'm not your mother. It's not a secret. They went from 35 to 200+ staff after the success of LoF.
But seriously, at the very least have some modicum of knowledge of a subject before posting as opposed to just pulling theories out of your ass, and then doubling, nay, tripling down on being wrong instead of simply looking it up.

I scanned your wall of text but still didn't see a link.

I've enjoyed Bloobers games quite a lot. Both Blair Witch and Layers of Fear were pretty good. Medium looks decent too. Their collaboration with Konami all points to a Silent Hill game, so why not just come out and say it? This attempt at secrecy is just ridiculous at this point.

This is such a gamble. I actually never played SH so a remaster/remake is nice, but Bloober games just seem like AA at best.
It is Konami though.

While SH2 has more people analyzing stuff due to the nature of the game, there's a lot of deep insightful stuff in SH1 as well. It delves more deeply into the alchemy side of things as well as the parallels between the journey of Henry Mason and the progression of the occult alchemical heroes journey as we call it. It's pretty damn amazing how much similar it is with the popular works such as Star Wars.

Just the name of the characters themselves pack a lot of meaning. It's easy to dismiss it if you're not knowledgeable about the nature of their meaning. While that is true as well for the psychological aspects of 2, it's a lot more mainstream compared to the themes delved in SH1.

I admit not having wrestled with the concepts of the first one, as I was rather young when I played it, but I certainly adore the atmosphere...I prefer the original Silent Hill to all the other entries. Man, the first two games are such timeless masterpieces...

This guy's attempt at refuting the rumor is solely based on some powerpoint template elements not being an exact match to the 7 year-old slides that leaked the PS4 Pro?
Yeah this guy is a total moron and has clearly never worked for any big company, where it is not unusual at all to have dozen of different ppt templates - if not more - depending on the department, the target reader, the work in progress status etc and so on..

This tweet is worthless.

Hopefully Blobers just remade the game 1:1 in Unreal Engine 5 or something, and they didn't change any audio.
If they're working on this, they'll butcher it to infinity. I have nothing against them really. I liked The Medium significantly but that team just doesn't get what Team Silent did and how they managed to make arguably the best horror game ever made.

And no one would be able to. Those artists simply do not hang around anymore. I would prefer Bloober to do some spin-off or Silent Hill: 5 or whatever. Leave SH2 alone.

Exactly. I work for a ~300 employee company and for internal docs we use our templates very liberally. I can only guess how it goes in a ~110 000 employee company like Sony.

Well, Unfortunately, Blooobers pitch got green lit by Konami, accoring to DG.

Silent Hill 2 aged badly. It plays like crap, the voice acting and dialogue is atrocious and the pacing is all wrong.

This needs a remake.
I like to think the flat, affectless voice acting and oddly paced dialogue timing in the OG Silent Hill games (especially 1) was intentional, gives it more of a David Lynch style surreality.

Probably just shitty voice actors though.

A remake of SH2 is one hell of a backup plan if the new game can't deliver. There's so many themes of hope and despair in SH2. The gaming industry can be very naive when it comes to what's good or it becomes a pissing contest. I'm confused on why one Twitter account always leaks these things. You would think some sorta legal action would be taken or is this some way of gaining publicity.

I doubt I'd pay $70 for a Silent Hill 2 remake either.

Resident Evil 2 was only $60, and it was Capcom's top developers making it, and it looked significantly different from the original.

Layers of Fear 2 looks interesting. Is it a walking sim?
