Its not twice more. Its a half more.Record operating income for Playstation division = $3.15bn(full FY2020)
Operating income for Nintendo in the FY2020 without Q4(we're going to get next week) = $4.8bn
I don't get why are you laughing when Nintendo is making nearly 2 times more than Playstation division record profit lol.
We are going to have a full profit comparison thread after Nintendo financial report.
Hoping for you to be there as well.
Missed that. I would go for yearly numbers honestly but ehh.
I am also curious why MAU dropped. COVID lockdown relaxed and people left the houses? One thing about the ps plus users, they sold around 3 million more ps5s since q3 but only gained 200k subs and Mau dropped? How does that work?
That's not including nintendo Q4 profits yet.Its not twice more. Its a half more.
No, the next quarter will be compared to the same quarter last year and it had incredible growth due to COVID. All companies basically expect worse results in comparison to the previous year for the same quarter. So… they expect lower sales of third party content and higher dev costs to bite hard that much? Do they expect a post COVID recovery right period where third parties have draughts / cannot sell beside the biggest franchises? Fear of GamePass? I dunno
I am also curious why MAU dropped. COVID lockdown relaxed and people left the houses?

It would be more surprising if it wasn't considering the amount of PS5 and PS4 sold in comparison to Xbox One and Series X/S.But, PlayStation's profits almost equaled Xbox's revenues this quarter -_-
The fun thing is that Nintendo is one of the most profitable companies in the world. I remember on B3D there were estimations and basically its profit margins were second to none.We are going to have a full profit comparison thread after Nintendo financial report.
"in the world" is pushing it, it's likely not even in the top 100. Still very impressive. The fun thing is that Nintendo is one of the most profitable companies in the world.
love the tasty salty tears in the thread
What I meant is the profit margins."in the world" is pushing it, it's likely not even in the top 100. Still very impressive.
See that mostly going to Sony Music and PicturesThey plan to spend $18 billion over the next three years on aquisitons
Oh I see. Yeah you're right. What I meant is the profit margins.
At least for 2020 (I think?) profits margins was
Sony: 9%
Nintendo: 25%
Apple: 21%
Alphabet: 22%
Facebook: 27%
Microsoft: 32%
Sony is heavily dragged by their hardware (TV etc.) division.
Who compares yearly profits for PS to xbox's quarterly revenues?
What? Do you even know what the two numbers are? I'll give you a hint. They are nowhere near comparable.
Yeah, with such profits we cannot expect big acquisitions in the near future. Even juggernaut which is Playstation, outselling Xbox One more than 2:1 and Series X (less than 2:1) for the year their revenues are 25 bln (Playstation) and 15 bln (Xbox), with 3 bln profit for Playstation. 3 bln profit for Playstation, year(!).
They will buy something for music and videos though
Very interesting to see the next year.
Ho, so that makes data look even worse then. Outselling Xbox Series is inevitable due to XCloud though (in both physical and digital sense - MS needs to make Azure blades and I suspect > 30% of possible production is Azure blades and XCloud doesn't require you to buy a console).Actually, worldwide PS5 outsold Xbox last quarter >2x if estimated XSX numbers are true. NPD numbers are 500k-600k for Xbox. since beginning of 2021.
What what? Gaming division comparison is legit. Also just putting things into perspective. So, what are the Xbox profits for last quarter? Thought so
Where's the software breakdown?
Show me the game sales.
I think you need to look up what numbers you're trying to compare. One of them is yearly profit, while the other is quarterly revenue. Sony made 3.2 billion in profits on gaming.. in a year. Microsoft made around the same in revenue... in a quarter.
Makes absolutely no sense to make that comparison. None what so ever.
Let’s get one thing clear out of the way firstRecord operating income for Playstation division = $3.15bn(full FY2020)
Operating income for Nintendo in the FY2020 without Q4(we're going to get next week) = $4.8bn
I don't get why are you laughing when Nintendo is making nearly 2 times more than Playstation division record profit lol.

PS5 should be past 9 million units by now and 10 by mid to late May hopefully.
There's also some rumblings of a big hardware push but that's just rumors so far...
Fantastic results, Some of those profits should be used for a strategic acquisition to increase revenue and profits further along with expanding owned IP's....
Kadokawa, MiHoYo etc....
PlayStation Sales - Breakdown
Hardware $4.9Bn
Software $15Bn
-Physical $1.3Bn
-Digital $5.1Bn
-Add-On $8.6Bn
Network Services $3.6Bn
Others $1.5Bn
Software Unit Sales, First Party Sales, Digital Download Ratio
If anything it highlights how artificial Xbox is as a business. They hide their numbers and spend amounts of money they shouldn’t have if they didn’t have a sugar daddy.
Actually it’s been said that the ps5 is outselling the series x a little above 2:1. I mean you trying to downplay these frankly ridiculous results for Sony is sad. The sooner you realize that MS can’t even carry Sony’s jockstrap and will never be as big in gaming as Sony the better off you’ll be.Yeah, with such profits we cannot expect big acquisitions in the near future.

Very nice, with "earnings of MS" and state of Sony gaming market is healthy, which is a obviously good thing.
79% digital ratio for last quarter
The fire rises.
Yeah but perceptually their earning increased, so that's good. But we dont really know how healthy MS gaming division is since they dont disclose anything accept revenue . So id hasitate to say this statement without actual numbers.
Yeah, that level of worship you have towards Sony is hard to beat (LMAO at jockstrap), but if Sony cannot get 2:1 revenue while outselling MS in everything while Game Pass is still growing and no first party games - I think the gap will shrink. The sooner you realize that MS can’t even carry Sony’s jockstrap and will never be as big in gaming as Sony the better off you’ll be.
Xbox benefits from being just a division in MS, so unlike the segment (or in case of SIE - being its own company basically as Sony is a conglomerate) they don't need to disclose the profits. I think it might be around 1 bn. at most.Yeah but perceptually their earning increased, so that's good.
Sure, I don't deny it. But it still an YoY increase and that's good in my eyes and also XSX (don't confuse with XSS) is in high demand, so that's also good. Like here, in my country demand (for XSX, XSS is readily available) is in another galaxy in comparison to X1 OG/S/X...Xbox benefits from being just a division in MS, so unlike the segment (or in case of SIE - being its own company basically as Sony is a conglomerate) they don't need to disclose the profits. I think it might be around 1 bn. at most.
Shhhh. That'll ruin their whole "Gamepass is bad because physical games= good digital games= bad" argument.Wow
Q4 Digital Download Ratio - 79%
Congrats to Sony's latest casual third party box!
The other third party box has like 95% the same library yet doesn't sell nearly as much, what does that tell you?
Where's the software breakdown?
Show me the game sales.
I mean which games sold how much.
