And a vastly cheaper competition to boot not to mention the Series X being more powerful and cheaper.
It's pretty impressive when you see what the PS5 has stacked against it. I guess the games are what made the difference.

That's my fellow physical master race brothers and sisters making our last stand.
PS is the Apple of gaming. Earnings, hardware, software and first party IP all ooze quality. And a vastly cheaper competition to boot not to mention the Series X being more powerful and cheaper.

It's already happened.Don Mattrick has really nothing to do with this anymore.
It didn’t for Sony with the PS3, they swallowed their ego and tried to do better, less talking and more action. It's already happened.
It's like some failing you on your highschool purposely. That will have direct consequences on your future, and it won't leave you until you can pick your feet up.
That is their state now
Sony is competing with a console that's more than twice cheaper than the PS5 since most PS5 out there are being sold in territories where Sony increased its price and they are heavily bundled... I feel like they should be closer honestly. It will considering you can get Xbox games day1 on PC and PC gamepass.
Xbox target would be 80m-90m if they don't fk up. Sony is seeing trajectory of 120+m if they keep this momentum.
Also global audience helps a lot. Xbox doesn't have that.
It's the year 2145 A.D.Don Mattrick has really nothing to do with this anymore.
Doesn't matter what price is Xbox. Sony simply has more advantage with global audience.Sony is competing with a console that's more than twice cheaper than the PS5 since most PS5 out there are being sold in territories where Sony increased its price and they are heavily bundled... If this is how they are selling now imagine if they were the same price.
Xbox being 90M...how? Have they crossed 20M by now after over 2 years?
Have you forgotten the PS3?It's already happened.

Nah. It was a decade ago. Xbox has since launched 2 consoles under Phil's management. And Don Mattrick's Xbox One launch was pacing 60% ahead of Xbox 360. He is not to be blamed. It's already happened.

That's not necessarily true, though.Strong results, but objectively on the Playstation side they should have had a strong holiday season given they had a new instalment of their arguably biggest brand (GoW) launching virtually unopposed.
Let's be honest; that's an open goal and with all the conserved momentum from releases earlier in the year against a backdrop of hardware supply constraint, if they didn't perform strongly that'd be a massive red flag for the future.
Simple: Demand and Supply. There's millions of people out there that tried and failed to have a PS5 for years.Given these numbers/performance what is driving the PS projection increase? Is the assumption that more players will want the hardware based on software releases (ie Spider-Man 2)?
If software availability is the driving the projections, then why would MS decrease their projections if they have a huge 2023 release plan (ie Starfield)?
Xbox was very strong in that gen.It had games and studios, plus 3rd party support.
Xbox didn't which is why we had "Xbox has no games" meme.
Their studios are still having problems with their output.
Xbox was very strong in that gen.
Activision also threatened to walk away from the PS3. Sony doubled down on 1st Party and are reaping the rewards now. https://www.gamedeveloper.com/pc/kotick-activision-could-withdraw-ps3-support-without-a-price-cutThey have to cut the price, because if they don't, the attach rates [the number of games each console owner buys] are likely to slow," said Kotick. "If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony." Kotick told the Times he's looking at 2010 and 2011 for Sony, whose games business lost $597 million last year, to get its pricing in line with the rest of the market, even if it means risking further losses. "When we look at 2010 and 2011, we might want to consider if we support the console,"

Competition of the decade
Back in the days of PS3 Sony didn't want people to know the hardware sales numbers either. But the people on the inside know how bad it was and opened the purse strings to AAA first party game at a major loss. They weren't in denial at least privately.
However Nintendo set the example for honesty. Because gaming is their main business, they can't hide the numbers without being fraudulent. So we know the Nintendo sales numbers for the good times and bad. And Nintendo is able to recover from Wii-U because they were honest with their flaws.
Microsoft really need to go public on their Gamepass numbers. Because the sooner we know how bad it is, the sooner someone could right the ship. Trying to pretend everything is fine, is not how you solve a problem.
Competition of the decade
Also for those wondering, Sony will relaunch PS5 in September with new streamlined version & probably a new base price of 399.99 or something close to it.
Xbox was very strong in that gen.
The writing was on the wall for Xbox when the typical 7th gen chest beating about sales numbers morphed into the ambiguous and harder to define "user engagement" numbers.
I can't believe that clown still has a job at Xbox.
Dude boasting about npd sales.
Which makes it even more sweet that Ragnarok sold more than halo 5 in 2 month.
Famitsu, Week 4
PS5 62,908
NSW 51,108
SERIES 1,265
PS4 1,061
YTD
2023 PS5 234,329
2022 PS5 114,003
Especially with Spiderman 2, and Final FantasyThey only need 5.2 million more ps5's, they just shipped 7.1 million in q3.
I think they'll get there.
Sony have really carved out a sizeable consistent market. I know it's used as an insult but the polished cinematic 3rd person market, basically belongs to Sony and it is a big segment.
Yep, DQ12, KH4, FF16, (and possible/eventually) Persona 6.This is really going to pick up with FF16. Will probably have 6 figure weeks again.
We'll see if Dragon Quest 12 is on Switch and/or PS4/5.
Xbox was very strong in that gen.
Release schedule and fucking up a flagship title is holding them back. Xbox One disaster is only an excuse at this point.Xbox one disaster is still holding them back.
Only way for Xbox to be successful is if they were a studio under PlayStation or Nintendo.I’ve always thought Xbox being a Microsoft division is holding them back and that spinning them off as a whole or partially owned subsidiary was the path forward.
Games are the only thing that matter, ever. Nobody is buying one console over another because it has a few extra teraflops. It’s absolutely meaningless. I feel like this is something people re-learn every generation. Sony has games and MS does not.And a vastly cheaper competition to boot not to mention the Series X being more powerful and cheaper.

Yeah...fire Jim Ryan he has no idea to run the gamingdivisionDamn, Jim Ryan must go ASAP!
Fey doesn't work for MicroSoft/Xbox. Unless...You make fun of him for boasting sales, and you do the exact same thing... Full circle. You basically making fun of yourself.
Absolutely insane hardware numbers. Jesus.
Gow saved their ass. 20 million after posting two 6.6 million quarters shows just how much gow was responsible.
So the quarter when hfw, mlb and gt7 came out Sony crushed it with 14 million sales. Then dropped to 6.6 million the next quarter and then again despite the release of tlou. Down from the year before.
We might be able to Sherlock Holmes the hfw, gt7 and tlou numbers by comparing the quarters. If gow sold 10 million by the end of December then half of the 20 million were gow alone. That would put hfw, mlb and gt7 at 7 million in q4 of last year when they sold 14 million.
I’m surprised Sony sold fewer units the quarter tlou came out because they had no new releases in the year before that.
SM2 will move a lot of units at current retail so I'm curious what they will price the new version at?Competition of the decade
