Sorority recruiting vid taken down, "worse for women than Donald Trump"

I can't either, but I'm gonna keep watching it to make sure I didn't miss anything problematic.

MisterR I posted others for your research...

Seriously. Videos like this one and all of the below from other public school sororities makes me wish I went there just for the views. Oh how I miss college

These videos are made every year by tons of sororities. This one is only getting heat because someone wanted to make a name for themselves by complaining.

For those of you looking for additional proof........

For the record I do not have these saved but Barstool Sports does a rundown on each of them when they pop up each year.

Most advertising videos are going to have attractive people in it. People just trying to hate IMO

I'll give them that including beautiful women of other races will only improve the video. But lets be realistic here, that will not appease the complainers

For all the talk of "outrage", I'm having trouble actually pinpointing where any of it is, other than the one small guest opinion article that some random person submitted to an Alabama news site.

Bless your heart.

Hey fuck you too, buddy! Think I don't speak southern?

There's different kinds of southern accents. Some are more subtle and "refined" (I dunno), while others sound like they just got finished fucking their cousin in the coal mine.

Honestly I've never heard a woman with a southern accent that didn't irritate me to some degree. There are a few men I've known with decent accents but it's very uncommon. One dude, though, must have practiced his--made Joel from TLoU sound infantile. That dude rules.

Sororities like that are just training for when girls become super successful and move in a house like this

Or wait, I supposed we are supposed to be offended by this realtor vid too? No fun allowed?

Sorry, but this video is more messed up than the sorority one. Why waste all your time at home just drinking wine and putting on makeup solely for group mirror selfies. You could solve world hunger or some shit.

Now I'm really puzzled. Neither of those are the official "We are ND."

You win by default.

A page back I praised UA President Judy Bonner for her work in helping integrate sororities, but mentioned that I generally dislike her policies. Well, this is an example of where her policies are just stupid:
Alabama's official statement:

"This video is not reflective of UA's expectations for student organizations to be responsible digital citizens. It is important for student organizations to remember what is posted on social media makes a difference, today and tomorrow, on how they are viewed and perceived," said Deborah Lane, Associate Vice President for University Relations.

Now, normally I hate everything Clay Travis writes with a passion, but I suppose this time his blind hatred for all things UA has produced an article that I agree with, so give him some clicks: http://www.foxsports.com/college-fo...bama-apologizes-for-hot-sorority-video-081715 Here are some snippets:

The University of Alabama has apologized to America because one of its sororities is so hot it made ugly people uncomfortable with this video:

Alabama's official statement is nonsensical:

. . .

Are you fucking kidding me?

Imagine the trouble that could befall you once you leave college if people discover that you were good looking in college and also had good looking friends who occasionally wore bikinis with you at the lake? Wave goodbye to your future, girls. You're done for. I don't know how you could ever hope to recover from being viewed and perceived as good looking today and tomorrow.

. . .

What in the world is improper about this video? There's no drinking, there's no drugs, there's no nudity, there's a lot of girls being happy and playing fake football in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Was it accurately reflective of real life? Probably not. For instance, I don't think any girls at Alabama would actually beat running back Kenyan Drake in a forty yard dash.

The only reason this video is popular is because the girls are really hot and they featured a football player in it. If the girls were less attractive and Kenyan Drake wasn't in it it wouldn't have gone viral. That's because there are tons of these sorority videos all over the Internet. All these girls did was make a video that was creative enough to stand out from the rest of the videos just like it. That's called being smart.

So really Alabama is apologizing because this sorority is too hot and their football player is too famous.

Great video!

But honestly, do people still don't understand what type of people sororities attract? That's Greek Life for you.

Seems oddly... aimed at guys? Chests bouncing in slow motion, the beckoning gestures, occasional zoom-ins on legs and butts... I know what I found appealing in this video, but I'm not sure what a straight girl was supposed to get out of it.

The most diversity I saw in that video was a couple of token brunettes.

This felt like Instagram: The Movie.

Are people really "mad" about this or are people just kinda rolling their eyes at it and then being accused of "SJW PC OMG OUTRAGE CULTURE"?

In PA, houses with more than like 5 girls are considered brothels and therefore illegal. I think my college experience lacked something.

Or appeal to girls who want to look like that

Exactly. I'll never get this "it was made for guys! look how sexy they're being! clearly for teen boys!" shit.

I guess The underwear I buy is aimed at gay men or women because of the sexy buff dude modeling the underwear for me.

I would love to hang with these women and discuss topics of interest over ice cream.

I'm being serious. They look like they're having fun. Cheesy, but aren't we all. Being taken down was more likely a result of going viral than being inappropriate. It doesn't express the supposedly noble purpose and prestige Greek life is supposed to represent nor the integrity of the university, but it's a recruitment video and doesn't depict drug/alcohol usage nor overt sex nor violence, so it's alright in my book. I'd liken it to a live-action barbie commercial.

On face value, I see nothing wrong with this video. A lot of the problems with Greek life (especially in the South) are much more culturally ingrained. And yeah, these women should definitely shoulder the blame for things like this:

http://www.cw.ua.edu/article/2013/09/the-final-barrier-50-years-later-segregation-still-exists

In 2003, Tuscaloosa native Carla Ferguson became the first black woman to pledge a traditionally white Panhellenic sorority through formal recruitment. She accepted a bid to Gamma Phi Beta and remains the only black woman to have pledged through the formal recruitment process, over a decade later.

Let's remember this stellar rush advisor:

A member of Chi Omega, who asked to remain anonymous, said her chapter dropped the black recruit because of its rush advisor, Emily Jamison, who is listed in the UA directory as director of UA, president’s and chancellor’s events.

“I know [the recruit] got perfect scores from the people in chapter the first day, and she got cut after the first day and I know it had to do with our advisor – is the one that dropped her,” the Chi Omega member said. “Her name is Emily Jamison.”

The Chi Omega member said the black recruit was originally on the slideshow of potential new members the sorority hoped to pledge and received perfect scores from active members, but she disappeared off the slideshow after the first round of recruitment parties.

The Chi Omega source said Jamison was one of only two people allowed in the room when votes were being sent; however, the source was not present in the room and does not know if other names were dropped.

Admittedly, it seems to be getting marginally better:

http://www.al.com/news/tuscaloosa/index.ssf/2015/08/university_of_alabama_bid_day_1.html

The University will no longer release a comprehensive list of pledges, a spokesperson citing "safety" reasons said this week, but announced 214 minority women accepted bids Saturday.

But yeah, as like, a recruitment video, it's just white blonde girls having fun, which, sure. I don't think there's anything particularly insidious or anything "worse [...] than Donald Trump", but it does speak to the larger issues that the 2013 expose on UA Greek life spoke about.

Do the girls come with the house?

Thinking about putting in my bid.....

Looks like the guy in the video is struggling to pay the mortgage. He goes to work in the morning and isn't back by the end of the video when its very late at night.

He should ask all those girls just chilling in his house to help with the bills.
