Yeah same here. Maybe it's just my already low opinion of greek life taking over here but I'm not quite sure what makes this so offensive as to be taken down.

The lack of diversity I can see as maybe a thing. But really, girls do this stuff and some like it. Nothing in that video is out of the ordinary.

You actually win the thread. I thought this was the problematic part of the video. Not that WASPs interact with other WASPs. The fact that you were the only one who mentioned that is also a problem. I don't think I could live "colorblind". You'll miss out on subtleties as blatant as that.

Oh I noticed it too but like, what do you even say besides, these girls who put the video together are clueless?

Your avatar looks like someone painted Jayden Smith on a varnished egg. You don't get to talk about taste.

Yeah, maybe I was too harsh in my last post. I'm just a bit fed up about how things always turn out on here (in America?). I do appreciate the effort you took to explain the broader situation to me, thank you.

Edit: Oh and your rant gave me a good giggle too. Twas very true.

Wow, I touched a nerve it seems.

You can thank rural Alabama for that. Once you leave from a city like Montgomery, you have Confederate flags hitched on the back of pickups.
Yeah, some jackhole with a confederate flag on the back of his pickup above his truck nuts did not inform the opinion of another jackhole on NeoGaf who has likely never even driven through the state, much less spent meaningful time here that Alabama is overflowing with racists while they live in the world's only post-racial city on a hill.

The lack of diversity and how it (unintentionally or intentionally) sets a standard to women is the problem.
I'm not sure how a random student chapter at a college sets a standard for women at large across the US or has more influence to what Trump likes to say.

And if an organization is made up the way they are, well naturally most media from them will feature their own members. Organizations that are more diverse also put out videos like these. Guess nobody follows those because it doesn't get the people going as much.

i watched the video four times and I still can't see the problem with it!

If it makes you feel better, I'm always asked who I align with with the football rivalry before anyone asks how racist the state is.

Most advertising videos are going to have attractive people in it. People just trying to hate IMO

But its not hate...? I mean some people may overreact with how bad it is, but the issue with the video is right in front of you.

Seriously. Videos like this one and all of the below from other public school sororities makes me wish I went there just for the views. Oh how I miss college

These videos are made every year by tons of sororities. This one is only getting heat because someone wanted to make a name for themselves by complaining.

For those of you looking for additional proof........

Yeeeaaaaaahh. See, our chicks do interesting shit like go scuba diving, skydiving and chill at the Taj Mahal. Once again, #bestintheSEC
Wait wait wait... go to the 17 second mark? Is that the "awkwardly dancing white chick" from the Rebecca Black "Friday" video?

Yeah I see where the complaints are coming from, and I usually complain about this sort of thing, but this video still didn't seem bad in that very sense.

Given UA's sorority history with a couple of black women (and probably the fact that I know a good number of non-white girls that go to UA), I find it hard to believe that its just white women that join that sorority.

Definitely. A more recent example of this was the promo video of this water slide in Waco.

Waco's demographics are: 37.18% White (non-Hispanic), 23.6% Latino/Hispanic, 22.65% African American, 1.38% Asian, 0.51% Native American, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 12.38% from other races, and 2.26% from two or more races.

Here's the promo video showcasing the Waco slide

here's reality

Advertisers, Hollywood, and Sororities know that attractive people can sell their product better than average Joes. I'm in sales, and at times I wish I could morph into an attractive blonde sorority girl to help sell my product.

There are pretty people of other races as well I think is the point

even if you are in a "no ugly people" mode you can still go beyond white girls as your criteria

That said, how in gods name is this worse for women than Trump? Maybe in some weird narrative of "he's a crazy old person but this is a regular day of life to some people" but no, that's stupid

is this real fucking life?

can we pls get trigger warnings on this forum? I almost disassociated when I opened the thread and saw it was about mentally ill SJW bullshit

In all fairness, there is nothing truly 'wrong' about this video, so I think the reaction should be a bit more muffled that it seems to be trending to.

That said, yeah...

Yeah I can see the diversity point. But as you say.... What does that have to do with women as the op and article suggests?

Apart from the obvious lack of diversity, any other criticism I've seen of this video essentially amounts to slut shaming.
Ehhh I don't know man. If it was a fraternity montage of a bunch of quarterback archetypes doing 3 minutes of stereotypically male things I don't think we would be so guarded with our criticism. My initial reaction, and much the same reason that I avoid my local top 40 bar, is that these women don't really seem like my type of people.

I just skipped around because I wasn't about watch that whole thing, but I don't see whats so damaging towards women. You could say they aren't exactly being a pillar of diversity, but its a sorority in Alabama so I don't know what anyone expects.

Oh my god they all look the same, I didn't really see anything offensive though.
They're selling their sorority as a glamorous outgoing, always having a good time club quite successfully.
