Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

Fuck, there's a lot of disconnections now.

I tried ranked mode. It's pretty fun, although it seems to be both an afterthought mode at the expense of the brilliant stage design, and an almost cynical boiling down of the game's mechanics to appease a 'Final Destination' purity which nobody is asking for yet.

Still, a lot of fun.

Also I've been playing this shit for like six hours now and I think I'm going to pass out.

My initial impressions are not very positive. I see absolutely no reason to use anything other than an Aerospray RG in this mode. It has Inkstrike which is pretty much needed, really fast ground coverage, and a great rate of fire since most of the combat is close quarters, it will most likely win out. I don't see how rollers can be of any help either. Maybe it is just the teams I was in and against, I don't know.

I'm at C Rank now with 25 points and 10 of the points I lost was because I had a situation where 2 people disconnected so it became 2vs4. Very fun...

Long range charger is working for these maps well

Only played one match because it's late and I'm tired, but geez, I'd expected SplatZone to be a lot more fun than it actually is.

There's just kind of… too much going on in that one section of the map.

Huh, I haven't lost yet, but didn't the Splatoon Direct say you were scored based on your own performance? You just won't be able to the extra bonus. But I guess if your team still sucks then they can bog your own performance down too. Need to rewatch to confirm. How many points towards rank do you get if you lose?

You gain 20 on a win, lose 10 on a loss. From what I've seen, it's a simple win and gain points, lose and lose points. Nothing since done performance-wise has factored into my matchmaking ranking.

Well when I get less than 400 points and like a 2:7 KDR...

It's like everyone is getting better at this game faster than me. I was really good in the Testfires.

Like beelze says above, take a break for a bit :)

Everyone has their off days. I lost so many times yesterday lol

Go rethink your strategy when you come back, learn when to back off when the enemy shows up and how to catch them off guard by circling them or taking them out from a higher vantage point. Also, its perfectly fine to not focus on engaging the enemy. Territory is the name of the game. Use your specials as cover. There have been so many times when my special dinged when it was ready but I forgot to use it and lost it when I got splatted.

I'm going to go out here on a limb and claim that the zapper is bugged. For a weak weapon it seems to one shot me all the time :P

I love Splat Zones, it's so chaotic.

I hate the fact that you can't join friends in Ranked Battles, what the hell Nintendo. Can you imagine? I know for a fact that pretty much everyone in my friend list is playing, but I can't play with any of them =(

N-Zap 85 is pretty good, as expected :P

Also this new map is great! Tight corridors, the bulldozer type machines giving extra coverage and strategy. Need some GAF matches on here haha.

Well I'm going to try the .52 Gal Deco, which I just unlocked upon making level 11. Does lots of damage and the seekers seem cool.

I feel it is rather obvious that this is to prevent "fixed teams".

Think I'm done with rank. It's just to hit or miss with crappy team members that don't know the objective.

Just join different lobbies. I've had some great games tonight that timed out with final scores around 10-18 and such. People are still learning what the mode is. Ranked is intense once people understand it.

Splattershot Pro is my weapon for Ranked. Distance and power to kill folk with the Inkstrike to help maintain control.

EDIT: I was using a Splattershot Pro, if that matters. I also was first for the most part with 1 second place finish and 1 third place finish.

Charger seems great.

Im at c rank and its 15 for a win 10 for a loss so I'm guessing you win less as you progress through the ranks

Don't forget about overtime in splatzones guys. If the clock runs out, but the losing team has the zone, you'll go into overtime until the losing team loses the zone.

Still haven't tried splat zones, too busy goofing off with this new map. It's certainly interesting to fight at. Echolocator is pretty awesome for it, so its nice to have so many people trying zappers on it right now. :p

Played a few more matches in ranked and... Well, hopefully the other ranked modes are better. Splat Zones isn't bad, but... I dunno. My mind is tired though, maybe I will enjoy it more tomorrow.

Had some up and down experiences in Ranked matches, either my team dominated, or my team got dominated. I think out of the 7 or 8 matches, only 1 ended with a countdown. Also, ink strike is legit for claiming territory
