Yeah, the lvl 20 gold roller 1 shots people when they jump attack. It actually seems really good.

Yeah, no matter how much some people want to claim otherwise, the game really could benefit from some sort of voice chat, especially in this Ranked mode. It's far too easy to establish ground and keep it when you can't tell other people where you died or where other people are hiding. I played like 10 matches and only one of them was close. Everything else was a clear blowout.

As for Splat Zones, it's a lot of fun, but people need some time to get used to the difference between it and Turf Wars. It's also nice having some variation between match types. Kind of a bummer you can't join friends, though. Oh, well.

Lots of connection issues for me tonight. Also, I found out the only way to back out of matchmaking is to turn the console off completely? Tried every button (or so I thought) and even the Home button is disabled.

You need to control both to earn points. The poor media folks I was playing against never stood a chance.

I can totally see that. I think if you're into competitive MP games, it's freakin' awesome. I hate most shooters and even I could see the appeal of Splat Zones.

I won two matches and lost two. It was a lot of fun. I'll probably come back and try to "git gud" once I hit Level 20 but for now, back to Turf War for me.

Yeah, this doesn't really make it any easier. As other people have stated you already have such a large penalty after dying when it comes to time, you really don't have the time to waste going around painting random ground to get a new special just so you can communicate with your team. At that point it's a pointless endeavor and your time would be better used actually going and trying to get the zone back. Plus you lose out on an actual beneficial special that you could be using to take ground back. It's a shoddy replacement for voice chat. If anything, echolocate is less useful in Ranked because it focuses more on killing each other and it's harder to get and keep your special the longer the match goes on.

Also, I was winning plenty. It's just that almost every game I played was a blowout either way.
