Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

I've never played a gyro control game that allowed for sensitivity adjustment. OoT3D, MM3D, WWHD, Arkham City, 3D Land, whatever... the gyro moves the way it does and that's that. I don't know if it has to do with the fact that it's using 1:1 input, but the movement required for gyro aiming severely reduces speed of placing the cursor compared to IR aiming.
That's just up for developer choice. There's no limitation in what type of sensitivity you can program to the gyroscope (well not as limited as you are thinking at least). That MEM is far more sensitive than any of the analog sticks in the controllers we have today.

If you want to see a fully adjustable gyro controlled game just look at Red Stasteseel 2 on Wii. i recommend to track a copy, it's a pretty decent game in short play sessions and a good hint of what this type of control method can achieve.

By the way, will the Splatfest be "region-locked"?
I heard the first one will be Pop VS. Rock in Europe but Cat VS. Dog in US (and another one in Japan)
Guess we'll find out next month.

I wonder what the system is for the graffiti that pops up. I didn't realize that that was a feature and I did a double-take when I saw a billboard of Squidward on one level. The next one had "Splatoon > Call of Duty" in it. You'd think there'd be rules due to copyright or whatever.
Those are Miiverse posts.

When I try to launch the game (from the disc) it sits at the loading screen with a sick drum beat for ever. What gives? I left it for over an hour thinking it was just updating and the Wii U shut off, I assume because the power off setting. I tried it again and waited 15 mins and still nothing.

Oh, I've played it, and it was great. Probably the best example of 1:1 motion there's ever been- responsive sword controls with no recalibration/drift issues. But I thought the actual shooter controls used the IR camera in conjunction with the gyro, so I don't know if I'd consider it gyro controls in the same sense as the gamepad. It still seemed like IR first with the gyro as backup, similar to Conduit 2.

This is a good question.

I do think the first few Splatfests will be limited by region due to them all having different themes. Maybe the ones passed that will be global.

Basically it's kind of a trending system.

If you rank up and talk to Judd outside of the Tower he'll give you bonuses for your performance. When his sleep bubble has orange Z's instead of gray ones, he has something important to tell you/will give you a bonus reward.

Had the chance to play a few matches during my lunch break, Rollers aren't getting me as much as during the test runs, i think im building skill! : D

Annie hurt my feelings by telling me i wasnt fresh enough to buy on her store tho.

Not for Red Steel 2, those are fully Gyroscopic controls. im not remembering if it's using the sensor bar as a reference thought. Metroid Blast uses the gyros also.

A question. How does Conduit 2 uses the M+? i haven't been able to track a copy of the game to see for myself. The most important question i have if it uses the IR and then the M+ to estimate movement when outside the viewing range of the camera sensor?

I think I'm finally coming around with gyro features. Think Mesoian put it the best some time ago, they're treated better as a perfect supplement for more pinpoint aiming while still predominantly using the right stick to control the X axis.

Looks like I'll be having them on as a mainstay. I might turn them off for the Rollers.

Doesn't everyone just love the gamepad? Everything is right there for you.

Weapon change? Bam right there.

Single player? Bam right there.

No more going to the main menu crap.

Amiibogedden was not kind to me today (RIP Lucina ;_;), but I finally picked the game up, so this will easily turn my night around! Looking forward to playing with you peeps! B)

I also love that a game is taking good use of the triggers. I'm quite fond of the gamepad's triggers

Brilliant game that will only get better in the coming months

bravo. level seven and going to try the kraken roller. I was having some success with the roller here n there. Nothing better than hiding in a corner and then popping out and ambushing, or jumping over another roller. need to take a break, but damn!

Wow. The Squid Amiibo challenges are mostly really easy, and then it has me do Inkvisible Avenues as a limited ink challenge.

And now I hate that level and myself.

Picked up the game today and my Wii U Game Pad kept getting an error when starting the game. Had to take it apart and re-attach the NFC chip so that I could even play :/

Anyway since being able to play it, my daughter and I have been having a blast. She's only 5, but we're taking turns online and it's hilarious watching her play and talk about what's going on. Games like these are the reason I love Nintendo.

Haven't started multiplayer yet, but man do I love this single player campaign. It's so incredibly fun! The octoling matches are so great and I hope we one day get a mode with them.

Tried ejecting and putting the disc back in. Putting in a different game (worked fine). Manually checking for software update and for a system update, none were found. Launching the game just sits at the room graphic with the drum beat and have to hard reset it. Totally soft lucks. Bummer.

My wife, the most casual of gamers, just took the Gamepad from me "for one quick game." Twenty minutes later she's hopelessly addicted having mastered the roller with consecutive 1000+ scores.

I love the final seconds when you can see you stole a win for your team :) feels so good

Yes! So satisfying when your team wins by a few percentage points and there's an area on the map that you just finished coloring.

I'm back to sucking with the charger again.

I wish the sprinkler actually added to your personal score. It has an ungoldy ink cost.

What exactly does the sprinkler do? Just damage people stupid enough to go underneath it or is there more to it?

Not too crazy about any of the side weapons so far. Bombs are pretty hard to get kills with and aren't as efficient as any main weapon to color with. Killer Wail seems pretty useless to me, maybe I'm not using it right but it's really easy to see and get out of the way. I keep getting killed by Krakens, can't wait to get that one.

Help! I can't stop playing. I'm splatidcted.

And the game just gets better and better. After playing rather decent for a while but being killed too often, I finally started developing some survival strategies. And it starts to pay off.
