Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

I play charger on Splatoon and kill enemies when I see them and I get first place often. Just continue painting after you kill an enemy. Most of the time after you kill an enemy they will leave a trail of paint that you can cover anyway. If there isn't paint around the area that means there aren't enemies there, which means you have no reason to be there.

It can be useful to get a push forward but it's not worth going out your way to kill someone.

If I get in a sticky firefight that I just jump or swim away and go paint somewhere else. Not worth the effort.
For the team win, it's tactical with kills since it stop the enemy to paint. Extremely tactical during the last minute, I'd say.
I do think the guy has a valid point in that case. Not getting any reward for defending (as in killing the enemy) means that there is less intensive to do so, except for at the very end of the round to get the win, as you mention. What is the best way, getting rewards for kill or not, that is a matter of opinion though, so there isnt any right or wrong answer to it.

I think I'm getting the hang of the .52 Gal. It's pretty good for defensive and offensive setups, more of a support weapon honestly considering I don't think it's as good for ink coverage.

I definitely think this is the best way. If kills were rewarded with exp it would end up like every other objective mode in shooters where people just farm kills. And screw getting put on a team with three chargers camping the spawn on Saltspray.

I mean, in sense kills are rewarded as time spent respawning is time not painting. Just have to pick the right fights.

Ranked is based off of W/L anyway I think. Points aren't everything.

Oh my lord, that final boss. I'm taking a forced break right now to keep myself from smashing the GamePad.

Just did the Inkling Girl Amiibo challenge which makes you use a Charger for it...it was a tiny bit easier than the Boy Amiibo's Challenge with the Roller in the end.

Gonna grab some lunch, then work my way through the Squid Amiibo Challenges, then i'll aim for Level 15-17 tonight!

Exactly. Rewarding coverage rather than kills makes players work together. If they gave exp for kills, I worry that people would not focus on the main objective of covering the most turf.

I don't know what this talk is about. I always try to hold key defensive positions and end up with a lot of kills, ground covered and points. Kills are very valuable, but you shouldn't hold an area you've painted all game if it isn't highly contested.

Also, the guy later says:

I am a sniper.

I am not complaining about scoring less than people who cover ground and kill.

I am complaining that people who die multiple times and kill nobody score higher. I am helping the team more. I should have a higher score (and more exp).

That's like whining why people who capture points in Battlefield or Flags in Halo get more points than the guys who don't.

exactly, it is a waste of time

That's what makes the decal so good: having inkstrike balances it's inking potential.

Of course you should. As long as it's the middle area. Yeah if you're defending your base then you probably could be doing something more useful.

If his team is winning and he's racking up kills keep the other team down where they can't spread ink he should be happy. Its about being a good team mate and knowing your role.

Excuse me, but didn't you hear him? He is being a good teammate, but ain't being rewarded for it!

Meanwhile, them guys who are dying a lot and not killing people are getting more points than he is!

Seriously though, points are mostly useless once you find a good weapon and get a good set of perks on your clothes.

Finished story mode, and boy was it glorious!

Looking for peeps to add

NNID: Silverkleto

I want the kelp splatterscope so bad, but this level grind takes forever...

Are we still at the point where we have to point out yet again that the game isn't about killing opponents, but to DYE THE SCENERY?

I don't think Nintendo designed this game for people to camp and kill other players without them understanding what's going on. It's not the behaviour they want to encourage, obviously.

While I agree, once you make a push into enemy territory you've gotta be pretty decent at killing the other team to make it work. I'm going 8-1 a lot and it isn't that I'm looking for people.

Tips for the last level with Charger?

I was looking for tips about it as well.... its do hard :|. I finish all challanges for all amiibos, and the last level with the boy and the squid is easier than the actual Hero mode last level.... but the charger.... I really dont have time and its soooo long!!! :S

Splatoon's objectives are idiot simple, but rarely straightforward.

If your entire team attempts to paint, you'll lose. If your entire team attempts to kill, you'll lose. The key is to prioritise which approach you take given your situation, and increase the likeliness of being successful at both by being in the right place at the right time. The way the paint creates danger spots and opportunities to gain ground in tandem with the stage design, and the way these situations can change in the blink of an eye, is what makes Splatoon so unique and thrilling.

Killing foes is important, since it gives you a good few seconds of enemy downtime, but enemy paint is your number one target in Splatoon. If that GameFAQs guy wants to camp and kill squids all day, that's fine, it's a valid contribution to team play. But he has to recognise that he's always going to be the least important component, especially if his opponent has already dominated the map.

At the end of the day, you gotta kill and you gotta paint in equal measure.

Really enjoying it. Last night I learned how to use the scope charger, and went on a winning spree. I would take the choke points and snipe players until my team caught up and pushed forward, and at that point I would move up too. It was great.

Edit: should say this kept me pretty much in 2nd in all of the games. Still spraying turf, just not as much as a guy with an aerosol rg lol.

Gonna miss this game. Lending my Wii U away for two months later today so if anyone that has me on their friends list sees me playing: it's not me and I apologize for my cousin sucking. Lol

Yeah i mean painting things up is my main objective but once we are right at their doorstep with everything behind us painted I'm playing defensive and keeping the other team boxed as best as I can.

Ranked mode will be better for those who just want to kill since you have a far smaller area to hold.

I think the role of sniper in this game is to instantly lay out a path of paint for your team to zip up and advance.

Sniping another player might keep them out of the game for a few seconds, but in the grand scheme of things it's not doing much for the team.

So from what I've gathered so far from the scrolls:

The squids are kind of assholes and the octopuses are awesome. When do we get to play as the goddamn Octolings?

I was doing so poorly this morning, had a ridiculously long losing streak that made me take a break for a few hours. Came back and immediately had a winning streak:

Lovely. It's almost level rotation time, right? Hang on to your testicles tentacles!
