Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

Got home, went on for some nice Splatoon. After the maps rotated I decided to try out the Splat Charger.

Three people from my Friends List showed up, all with gold Aerosprays. Eating dinner now but I don't think I need to say how "well" that went... For perspective I like just got level 6.
The charger is my least effective weapon, but I've seen people providing beastly support with it. One charger user effectively locked out my team from half of Walleye Warehouse with perfect sniping.

The Skatepark has to be the hardest level in the game. The huge open areas are easy to just get completely screwed up on depending on your weapon and everyone's open for picking.

Thanks. I made that model to learn a bit about lo-poly stuff. It's 67 triangles, though it could easily be 63 without affecting the fidelity (currently using 4 triangles per sucker, which is stupid because you never really SEE the suckers)

It kinda looks like it could be straight out of an 3D N64 game like Rayman 2

So why is Splatmaster Jr. the "you must use this or die" weapon?
I havent used it since I hit level 2. I don't miss it at all and certainly feel no pressure to do so.

Is there a good gear guide anywhere? I have no clue what I should be buying / leveling up.
Doean't this depend in your weapon and style of play? E.g. When using weapon with echolocator, I use gear that boosts special charge and length, because I love to have my team know where everyone is most of the time.

Well yeah, I was still averaging 500-ish points which I think is OK for someone relatively new to the charger and just now trying out motion controls.

The issue was that the room I was in was not appropriate for that! lol

I don't understand why they didn't include something a la tournaments from MK8?? Would have loved a GAf tourny/community

So. That tweet from Nintendo wasn't for show.
Splatoon seems to doing very well in Japan.

Splatoon was sold out at a Best Buy I went to on Friday, so were all of the amiibo, aside from 1 of the 3 packs. It seems like it's a thing now, but only sales numbers will tell if that's the case. I really hope it is, because the thought of the another Splatoon game makes me happy.

I've been meaning to finish the last set of levels in single player but... almost level 20. So close!
Would have had it sooner but my internet has crapped out off and on today randomly. If it keeps up, I'll finish single player but damn, do I want that level 20.

Yeah it would have been way better.
Maybe open a room, wait for people joining you, if you're not 8 add an option to include random people.
Can't wait for august's friend lobbies.

I'm currently using the Splattershot with the Suction Bombs and Inkzooka. I thought I'd miss the Bubbler of the Jr., but my current strategy of claiming the high ground, spinning like a sprinkler, and then firing ink tornados into the distance for charger-like coverage has been working well for me. Also, I'm rocking the schoolgirl outfit, and the abilities worked out well: reducing ink usage on the main and sub-weapons, refilling ink faster, swimming faster, throwing subs farther, and increased super-jump speed.

Which is why it's the best level in the game. A single player can control the tower and dominate the enemy team single-handedly if they're not careful.

A quick online search shows probably about 1/2 the Best Buy stores within 100 miles of my house are sold out. Sold out at a few Target stores too, although probably 3/4ths of those have copies. A few Gamestops have "low stock", but all those seem to have copies. Game has been selling well on Amazon.com and has been the best selling game there (not counting the Amiibos or PSN gift cards) since it released a couple days ago.

It's above all the Humble Nindie Bundle Games on eShop, so you're probably looking at 10k+ copies there.

Does Splatfest take place at night? I could have sworn I saw some screenshots of some of the maps at nighttime with glowing ink.
I believe so. I remember seeing those same shots. Looking forward to it!

I'm a bit unclear on how the voting works, though. So everyone votes for one of two teams, and then you win points for your team, right?

This month's NPD is going to be quite interesting

I didn't think much of it at the time, but my Gamestop had two copies left, and I bought one of them yesterday.

I wonder if they didnt make many, or if this is selling better than Smash lol

I highly recommend the amiibo. I got the three-pack and it's a great value.

There are actually 20 remixed missions per character (like trying to beat the final boss with a charger or roller), and you get cash for completing each mission. And every five missions you win a special prize: a headpiece, shirt, shoes, 8-bit minigame, and a weapon skin. It's really extending the single-player value of the game in-between multiplayer sessions. (Although really, the single-player in the base game is perfectly replayable in its own right)

Skatepark is easily my least favorite level.
Skatepark is actually one of my favorite maps. For me, it's all about taking the central tower. The longer you hold that tower, the longer you can spin and spray. Seriously, don't even look at the floor -- just spin and spray. You'll paint over the whole middle third of the map in no time.
