Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

When the devs, during the Iwata Asks, said that people should try out multiple weapons to have more fun and learn how to play better, they weren't kidding. Loving the 5 or so weapons I've tried so far, and each one has me refining my overall tactics.

The breadth of this game is wonderful. I'm already seeing mindgames, gimmick strategies, and awesome hail mary comebacks from people who have mastered their weapons. There's a nice skill ceiling here.

Unrelated, I have been exploring the walls metagame and it's hilarious. Since people mostly aim for the ground, you can hide in a wall and most people won't notice you. The amount of kills I've gotten that way is incredible. Some times people have chased me, I go around a wall and hide on it and they don't notice, go past me and I kill them from behind.

Does the Ninja squid ability hide all visual effects when swimming up a wall, or just when swimming on the ground?

Nah, not using that Blaster anymore. Such a cheap weapon, maybe not a point magnet but absolutely dominant in defending anything. Unless the other team is using far range weapons or also a blaster there's absolutely no reason you'll actually be in danger. No doubt that thing is gonna dominate some of the ranked modes.
It doesn't outrange bombs does it?

So after a weekend of playtime (around 5 hours I think) yesterday evenening I started to thINK, is there something bad about this game in my opinion, and after an hour of playing multiplayer again I thought no there isnt, its perfect the way it is.

Even the lack of voice chat isnt a problem at all, cause I guess nobody would like to hear me cursing at them in german all the time (either opponents or team members who instead of inking just kill other people...

I think once everybody understands that you dont have to kill to win, the game will get even better with far more balanced teams :-)

Overall its an awesome game and its the most fun I had with a shooter since... Halo 3 I think

Best about it that you cant just use one weapon all the time. for example yesterdays maps were the Mall and the Station (dont know the english names cause I'm playing in german) and those are actually quite good for rollers (excepts the quarterpipe like areas but with some tricky moves you get it done) but the skatepark for example is horseshit for the roller :D So you have to choose a different weapon

Considering you could get paired with a team of Japanese players or vice versa I'm not sure voice chat would even help that much.
Plus I honestly do not want to listen to some of the people out there, and the matches are so short it would be hard to verbalise any strategy. At most I would just use it to tell people to stop camping and actually ink the damn floors.
So lack of voice chat for me is not a negative.

Second thought. Don't add me right now. I've had like... a lot of the whiskey. Seriously. Aiming is hard.

I'm pro team "fuck voice chat" but... one of my favorite gaming memories is joining Japanese PSO servers back in the day. Japanese players were so awesome, I even met a dude who told me how he was learning English and wanted to chat while we played. He told me all about how Japanese players played the game and how to join in on their games and not disrupt it. I played a toooon of PSO with Japanese players, it was a blast.

Played my first real match! My team dominated and despite being level 1 I got 2nd on my team with over 1000 points.

I have to put it down now but it's so hard oh god

I had a feeling you were going to say this once you mentioned rollers. The skate park is fantastic for rollers you just have to figure out how to play on it. The park plays completely different from the rest of the maps and you have to adjust your play style to match.

Let my friends try today. Oh man the bitching about hte gyro controls even though they never use analogy for shooters (PC guys). Told them to stick with it... I don't think they warmed up to it..but they did get better.

Mostly it was their awareness that killed them. Guys blatantly behind or beside them and they don't notice.

GRRRRRRREAT games everyone! Oh man this game is so much fun!! I'm glad I finally got to play with gaffers. Even losing was fun since I knew my team wasn't garbage. Randoms is gonna be horrible now... Haha. Anyway I got up to level 16 so I think I'm done for the night. Thanks for the great games! I'll be on again tomorrow for sure.

Some nice lads tried to do that to us once tonight.

I had a charger.

Very sweet lads. They were so kind! They also had the most beautiful splatter screams. <3

Now I wish I had better aim with the Charger. I seem to play hyper aggressive when I play, focusing on movement and painting as opposed to killing. In fact, I get more kills with the bombs. Just ask most of NightGAF. Still, I can get good kills every now and then.

Now that I think about it, my Charger play seems inspired by the spray-squid-spray movement of the Splattershot types.

Who actually gets hit by bombs?
1. I've killed plenty of people with them

2. Your post was about how no one could touch you. I throw a bomb and force you to move.

Throwing a bomb removes your ability to defend and puts you in danger.

I saw some headphones on someone yesterday, I had Spyke get'm for me and I bought them when I first logged on last night. He charged me 5k. I then went in to the hat shop. They were for sale for 2.2k. I'm not even wearing them. Luckily I have way more cash than I need right now.

TOM GODDAMN NOOK

Well maybe I have to try again cause I guess I only played twice on skate park and got beaten up so bad :D

If it's any consolation didn't like it at all atfirst but I love it now. It's the most uneven map and you can use that to your advantage. I use the regular roller as the bombs are necessary to combat people on the tower and two side vantage points.

Just ask Jeff (Hispanicguy/espanajeff) how good the roller can be XD

Yeah, it's great at removing people from the Tower at the Skatepark. =P Seriously though, your great Roller play there forced me to change my approach when you were on the opposing team. It definitely helped my Bomb game a ton, especially when I'm being pursued.
