I think it's a horrible horrible weapon. It's perks are damage and area of effect, which don't seem to help much. I mean damage is great... but after a certain point its overkill. The area of effect looks worthless unless their team is idiots and clustering up. Both don't seem worth it over superior range and fire rate which seem to matter much more in this game.

If it shot a tiny bit farther, or a bit faster I'd be down.

You might be using the rapid blaster which is totally not the same as the normal blaster. Blaster OHKOs, rapid blaster doesn't. OHKO is really damn incredible.

I know there's a lot of great multiplayer content coming, but more story-driven single-player content would be great, as well. The single-player is excellent; I find it endlessly replayable on the strength of its level design, mechanics and pacing. But I want to see more adventures with these characters. Cap'n Cuttlefish, Agents 1 and 2, and
DJ Octavio
. :-)

I'd fully support a paid DLC pack later down the line of 3 new worlds (with 6 levels each) for about $10 or so bucks

Going by the menu...

Look at the upper left. The mode will probably be on rotation like the stages.
Ah, OK. Cool. That's actually what I was hoping. By having Splat Zones, Tower Control and Rainmaker all on rotation within Ranked Battle, it makes the ranking itself feel more varied and meaningful.

I agree, for sure. More worlds please!

I had a ranked match today where 6 people got disconnected right at the start, so it became a 1x1 match between me and the opponent. It was surprisingly fun.

Ranked mode is great for snipers.

I particularly enjoy blackbelly skate park and the thin one with ramps / platform in the middle..

Man its brutal when you lose though. Especially when it's close.

What a difference 3 days make. I've been unable to play because I was moving to a new house and the players have gotten better and strategies have changed. Guess I'll have to
play catch up...

No, I'm talking about that one.

I just think it's putting too much importance on damage while sacrificing stats that are more beneficial to this game. It's ability to paint is abysmal, meaning your movement options are limited because you can't lay paint down fast enough to react to situations. It's a gun that's pretty much 100% for killing in a game where killing isn't the main objective. Who cares if my gun takes more hits to kill you, I can outrange and out run you due to my paint options, as well as contributing more to the overall goal.

Either people are starting to understand Ranked more, or I have been getting lucky with teams today. Went from C- to C+ rather quickly. Now to hit B-!

people are definitely understanding it more

my matches today were worlds better than the ones I had last night. a night and day difference, if you will.

;p

Mines seem pretty godlike in ranked. Are you typically placing them in the middle of a point? I dunno why I see non-rollers ever really go into the middle, but it happens a ton.

That platform in the middle of the two points in skatepark is perfect for mines. Always amusing watching people run up there and then die immediately.

I'm a professional journalist with a very fulfilling career of helping people and advancing good causes.

But I've decided that interviewing, writing, etc., gets in the way of playing Splatoon.

How do I make a career change to become a professional Splatoonist?

I do wish the Blaster would go a little further, it's okayish but slightly underpowered imo.

But being able to hit in an AoE is meaningful, because it's almost like getting extra range on your attack except in every direction. There'll be times when you want to be able to hit an enemy indirectly, such as around the corner, and bombs tend to be very expensive ink wise. Boom, Blaster can hit indirectly and can OHKO or 2HKO without requiring a ton of ink.

Only write about Splatoon, gives you an excuse.

the blaster with the disruptor sub weapon helps hinder opponents. I always lead with the disruptor when I have it.

yeah middle of splatzone or, my favourite spot to put it in skate park, on top of the tower

I was one win away from A+, and then I was paired with a c- twice in a room filled with B's and A's.

Now I'm just fighting to stay afloat at A :lol

I will say this about ranked... The announcements screen is too slow compared to the turf war scores screen. Hope they speed it up in future.

If you're correct that's fucking awful. Not being able to play the stage I want is one thing, not being able to play the mode I want is bullshit.
That's shit tbh, but it seems like a sound business decision. Nintendo is restricting choice in order to make sure the player base isn't split -- if Splatoon's user base is low, splitting up everything could cause problems.

I'm all for choice, though.

Does anyone have a link (or knowledge) of the percentage values of the skills and their diminishing returns? I've been told the soft cap is 2 stacked together and anymore is just a waste of a skill slot, but I need to see some maths dammit.

grenade throw perk is seriously the most useless to me

literally
useless

and i got it twice on the same piece of gear just now arghghghg

Yeah, I bought two pieces of gear today and leveled them up. One got double movement speed, one got double quick super jump.
