Shouldn't Kanna really be reserved for the cover of the third volume?

I am saddened that no-one read this post thoroughly.

A world withouth Shaft shows would be pretty lame and boring, so I'm happy with the good sales even I'm not the big Monogatari fan.

This is true. SHAFT makes the world a happier place.

I have apparently a 65% compatibility with my own list to yours. the highest compatibility so far is with Darkside's list.

out everything this disgusting filth sells but stuff like chihayafuru megabomb smh

humanity doesn't deserve to live.

This is not even remotely a surprise though.

People who like Kallen disgust me.

I guess I'm disgusting because I find her rather keen :)

She's a moron and one of the most blatant fanservice characters of all time.

Well this could be said of many many animu girls.

Haibane Renmei 1-13 (FINAL)

I knew this show seemed familiar. Character design was done by Yoshitoshi ABe, who did: Serial Experiments Lain. The structure of the show has an interesting dynamic, it begins with a pique of curiosity, many questions that the viewer will have about the town, Old Home and the Haibane, who they are, who they were, what will become of them. Then it takes a (really depressing) turn for the existential until we're left at the end with a reassuring semblance of hope.

I wouldn't give it many points in the animation department but the script is what really shines. There is something strange about this world and it grabs your interest from episode one. After
Kuu's flight
the pacing of the show kinda gets funky as it no longer becomes about Old Home but rather Rakka and Reki. That's not to the show's detriment as Rakka and Reki's journey is one that is rife with vulnerability and a sense of helplessness. The music for the show was also very interesting. The ED in particular, for lack of a better word, starts out very creepy but as it goes along becomes more and more familiar and welcoming; a mirror of the show's emotional structure in my opinion. Though many questions are left unanswered by the end, I find myself no longer desiring the answers to those questions. This show is one that may have me reflecting on its themes for quite a while. I still feel a bit uneasy about it all (in the sense that it's sort of depressing me just thinking about it) but I liked it. 4 out of 5.

Now you can sort of understand why its my favorite anime of all time.

One issue I'm having with the gifs is the speed. The GAF thread said to use 3/100ths and I'm finding that's too fast. 6/100ths seems rather slow on the other hand.

irr8hO8aIS1gq.gif

I see tits. That cant make the google spies very happy. Perhaps they wont notice.

Maybe I didn't stress how bad my obsession is...

AMAZING. fucking amazing. My hat is off to you!

So for animation gifs in particular I should cull half the frames and just time it to 8/100ths? Is the only purpose of that to make the filesize smaller? Also how do I know if the animation is on twos?
A lot of times in animation, especially when working with cells and shows with a relatively low budget, animation is done in 2s or 3s repeating frames 2 or 3 times respectively to save money. You can tell as in those cases you will have 1 the same frame twice. By doing what he described you can make the file smaller by removing the repeated frames since unlike fixed framerate video GIF allows to have different timings on a frame basis. To keep the same speed without the frames in question you just double the duration for the repeated frame and remove the other.

Hope this helps.

Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi 01
That's true love there.
So, the RNG gods have decreed that I watch this series next, so here we go!
Well, it's more like finishing this series cause I did start it when it was airing and kinda forgot about it midway through. I do remember the narrator getting in the way quite a bit, mostly talking over other characters. I am liking the fairy tail twists going on and it will be nice to see that occur every episode. It's not a bad first episode, just intro and a short and fun retelling of a fairy tail.

You haven't seen anything yet. Wait till I double post it.

I think most people around here who have seen all three titles might well consider Nisemonogatari worse than Bakemonogatari and Madoka, whether or not they like any of them.

This is how I see it. I liked Bakemonogatari and I LOVED Madoka Magica but I have only seen one episode of Nise and that's all I cared to see.

I don't understand what he's trying to imply. Other than that Kanna cover has a disturbing lack of nekomimi.

I guess I was too subtle then.

This is a round about way of saying anime is made on the cheap by repeating frames!

Got it, thanks. However I'm going through the gif frame by frame and I'm not seeing a redundancy of the individual frames. Each one is different.

This has actually been fairly interesting. Thanks everybody for their help.

Personally I get more upset at the failure of anime aggressively targeted at general audiences, such as Dennou Coil and Letter to Momo, than the success of yet another show of questionable merits among the otaku niche.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but weren't Kon's films much more successful overseas than in Japan? Then again, I don't know if Kon's films did badly in Japan, or just noticeably worse than they did everywhere else. I assume they weren't failures on the level of Letter to Momo.

I doubt that Satoshi Kon's films were outright failures, but I could see my favorite one, Millennium Actress, failing to get a foothold.

Well it depends on the scene. The gif I posted earlier was full of varying repeated frames. Whereas a fight scene will most likely have unique images per frame.

Despite that if you remove every other frame the human eye will blend the animation together.

Someone already posted some shots I thought, I know a lot of backgrounds have been changed.

Yes, the Nisemonogatari BD fixes were surprisingly...tame? I don't even really why they felt the need to change the backgrounds but then again this is the same studio that filled in a certain characters room with lots of stuff 'just because'.

Interesting. So could this be a way of distinguishing production values? If a show has a ton of repeating frames then couldn't that mean that they're doing half the work (obviously not an exact scale) compared to a studio that has each frame being unique.

Not really since a lot of in-between frames tend to be really low quality since the eye has no time to focus on them.

This show sucks, it's really boring and the main character is even worse than Kyon is.

There's only 3 good things in this show, the Kyoani production, Eru, and the ED.
That's...disappointing. I am reading similar responses from a number of other people, which makes me think I should drop the show right now and not even bother watching the second episode.

Speaking of Letter to Momo, it's playing at the BFI in London next month. I think this'll be the third UK screening at this point - more people over here will have probably seen it after than then in Japan!

Oddly enough there's barely any fan service in one piece despite what femmworth would want to believe.

That's one of OP's main problems.

Its very watchable still. Maybe you will get more out of it.

I didn't think there was much, besides the questionable character designs. I figure Bleach probably has the most fanservice out of the big three shounen shows, whatever amount that may be.

The Light of El Cantare
Shining Hearts: Rick's Krispy Kreme Donuts 1-3

Rick is such a baller. He just makes bread with three other chicks and they make everyone in town happy. I like how this show stresses how high quality of life can be without big government. The moral is that hard work will pay off. The 99% could really take a few pointers from this show.

Also, this show possesses the ED of the season.

Don't you mofos dare post that gif.

Yeah, that oughta teach those lazy entitled socialists to pull themselves up by their breadsticks instead of relying on universal breadcare. WINDARIA ISLAND, LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT

Makes me wonder how they're going to treat (manga spoilz)
Punk Hazard, what with Sanji being trapped in Nami's body and Smoker being trapped in Tashigi's. Nearly-bare titties and self-fondling everywhere.

That's one of OP's main problems.

So what starts off as a goofy school council episode quickly becomes one delving into Ledouche's ideals when coming to the Japanese civilians relationships with Brittanica racism and
Kallen's mindbroken mother showing her that she has always done everything for her.

It definitely wasn't uncommon territory, makes me wonder how the show will flesh out other side characters in the Black Knights.

Code Geass pacing is on another level of existence.

yeah bleach would have the most since it's the only one with a beach filler episode but it still quite small amount of fanservice for a 360ep show.

For a second there it seemed like this episode would be a direct stairway to furry insanity, but it went in a much different direction instead.

So some eleves turn to
hallucinogens to combat their suffering, huh? That's... Pretty heavy stuff.

After this Kallen-centric episode, I must say that I'm a little fond of her.

I'm fine with the show continuing in this pattern. I enjoy watching the cast interact to solve everyday mysteries, and the chain of logic is provided in a visually engaging way(which is something it was particularly successful at this week, and something most mystery animes do not do well). The visual storytelling in general in this show is very good, and combines well with a soundtrack and atmosphere that makes the show interesting to me, even if what is actually happening is rather mundane. It reminds me a lot of how K-On is handled really, I think Branduil mentioned this in the other thread, most of what happens is just a vehicle for the characters to get together and interact. If you do not like them, or do not like their chemistry then the show would probably be much less appealing. Seems like it will be a love it or hate it type show. They seem to be hinting at some sort of overarching plot with Eru maybe? We'll see where that goes.

I agree with this. Everything is largely fuel for the characters to interact and be placed in certain situations. Even if the stories are mundane, the interactions between the cast sell those stories. I think the show has nailed a strong voice for each of the characters, and it's been a lot of fun to see them all come together in certain situations. The mysteries are mundane, but I feel like the mundane nature of those mysteries actually complements the show perfectly, and fits in with Houtarou and Chitanda's characters in how they react to them.

The sad thing is that Bleach's beach episode is actually one of the worst in the series. As well as the show did with the Shinigami Cup shorts, self-contained one-off filler episodes sucked even worse than the contiguous filler arcs. Rurichiyo soccer and the cake-baking episode were probably the two worst in the entire series, and it's a pretty fierce competition for worst episode as it is.

Really, the only fanservice in canonical Bleach is Rangiku's tits and
Neliel and Harribel's resurreccion forms
, otherwise everything is pretty modest.

Three episode rule. Don't let the opinions of others sway you before you have even had the chance to watch the second episode.
