I stopped reading right there. Suda51 is nothing more than a walking piece of garbage who happens to make games. How that piece of garbage gained sentience is a mystery the world's top scientists are still working on figuring out. It'll be tough but I think they'll still figure it out before he ever makes a single worthwhile piece of actual interactive entertainment.

Calling him one of "gaming's premier auteur directors" is absolutely an overstatement, but I love Killer7 far too much to ever hate Suda. I'd love to see him actually direct a game again.

If you say it often enough it might become true. Well, maybe only in Korea.

Even with the staff involved, I don't see what expectations people could have had for Idolm@ster that weren't exceeded by the actual show.

But didn't we already know this?

Cream Lemon: Pop Chaser (1985) - hentai OVA

Staff involved:

Hiroyuki Kitakubo - Director of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Roujin Z, Blood: The Last Vampire

Hideaki Anno - Director of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gunbuster, Nadia etc

Mahiro Maeda - Director of Gankutsuou

Katsuhiko Nishijima - Director of Project A-Ko, Agent Aika, Najica Blitz Tactics

Takeshi Mori - Director of Gunsmith Cats, Otaku no Video, The Skull Man

Toshiyuki Inoue - This fucking dude

Takeshi Honda - Animator extraordinaire.

I was always curious when you guys mentioned the best directors working on hentai OVAs but damn, this really is staggering.

Is this Cream Lemon OVA god-tier or is it still just another hentai OVA?

You will always be a smug Medaka to me.

Envelope's inner avatar will always be Erio to me. First impressions stick.

I enjoyed it all the way through. :(

Even the melodrama at the end!

Hibiki got fucking cheated on her episode, though.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good Idolm@ster was. I thought it'd be equivalent to what AKB0048 is for this season. I wouldn't say Idolm@ster is terribly consistent; Some of the episodes are kind of meh, while some are pretty entertaining.

I actually thought the melodrama was done was pretty well. Still not my cup of tea, but the melodrama was executed pretty well imo.

and Hibiki deserved better :(

I don't know if anyone enjoy's anything ironically. If you enjoy something, you enjoy something.

I don't understand how one enjoys something "ironically". Does that mean you're not actually enjoying it but you're pretending to derive enjoyment from the particular work? Never mind, Mad Pierrot defined it pretty clearly

Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi 11
Coolest character in the show not that there is any real competition here.
So, the conflict gets swept away pretty easily. Like everyone's problem is pretty much solved without any big deal and even the main confrontation is like
keep calm, one punch, all right we'll socially and economically ruin you now, k?bai!
There is somehow yet another episode after this of I guess fun hijinks for all, so way to ruin any sort of conclusion we might have had.

The ED is actually pretty catchy, Rocku Lee Go! Rocku Lee Go! The episode was pretty cool, Rasengan, Kabuto, so much Konohamaru and his jutsu
Sasuke!
. Probably my second favorite thus far.

I have no idea what the hell is going on here over the last 500 posts or so, but since I'm incapable of being able to participate in a critical discussion, I'll just post this (which I don't think was posted here before), the contents of NISA's Usagi Drop release.

xb8DB.jpg

Just the usual NISA stuff -- the DVD/BD for the show and a hardcover art book.

e: beaten. Here's the RightStuf link to make up for being late.

And for only one tenth of the price of Fate/Zero s1. The American localization industry is saved.

I usually don't have too much to say on them overall. Type of show I have a sentence or two for remark on with a little picture.

Much Yoshinoya love here though, her antics are fun stuff. I should have put up her Chinese outfit from that episode.

Hiro...cooks. Don't get me wrong, that's cool and all. But besides that and sensitivity to appearance (only has happened a couple times so far), she hasn't stood out for me. Her outbursts over the latter have made me chuckle though.

Yeah, they be freeloading too often off her cooking skills! She seems to enjoy the activity though, so that's good.
All the weight jokes with Hiro are usually pretty funny especially when instigated by Miyako. Also she's so good at taking care of people. <3 Yuno is still the best though.

Yeah it's really not a show that invokes a lot of words but it's just an enjoyable thing to watch. Just waiting on the next release of the manga over here.

Ha, yeah I'm growing on Yuno myself.

I kind of submitted my review too early and missed
her getting strength to move past her artistic shortcomings in the eyes of critics... thanks to one-on-one with Hiro.

*sniffle*

Beautiful.

I judged Hiro as just a cook too soon.

The Light of El Cantare
Fairy Tail 15:

Mystery solved: Deliora evolves from Gyarados

So, aren't flashbacks supposed to help make a character sympathetic? Why is it, then, that Gray's flashback just helps to give validity to Lyon's claim on revenge? Child Gray is kind of an unlikeable fuckup.

The idea of a monster like Deliora existing in the Fairy Tail world is pretty absurd, too. Where did it come from? How long has it been terrorizing the world? If it's existed from time immemorial and is immortal, how is the world not just a pile of smouldering ruins by now? Are the mages of the world so collectively inept that they had to
rely on a random girl in the bumfuck outskirts of the north giving her life in order to defeat it
? Fiore is so damned poorly-realized, everything just exists in its own bubble.

Fairy Tail 16:

how does this even work

Gray's chest is surprisingly intact for having just been impaled by an ice tiger. An ice tiger that somehow roars, even. At least he managed to counter with his strongest attack, ICE MAKE I'M A PROTAGONIST.

Ha, okay then!

Also, did you read my response to your question about the impressions?

Ah sorry, missed it. You guys post way too much and I sometimes miss pages...

Yeah, I'll probably have more to say once R2 is done.

But honestly on Code Geass R1...there's not much more to say than what I did! Ha, the flip switch-breakneck pacing makes it quite easy to just list it all the components with simple notes on the characters running the madness.

But I'd bet on doing the final episode of R2 review and then overall series review (more detailed, less silly) right under it, like I did for Black Lagoon and Steins;Gate, with non-quoted
obnoxious
wide screen cap of course.

Nice, I'll be looking forward to your Code Geass review. Have fun watching going mad from R2! :D

When is a better time than the last episode than introducing a new rival in love?!?
Yeah, a boring episode after we already had a conclusion means a throwaway episode.

So, this series kinda screams aimless. I mean, it has a decent concept of fairy tales and stuff. But, doesn't really do anything with it. There's action but that disappears on and off. We have character drama and backstory but that gets glossed over like nobody's business. I don't really mind seeing as I literally marathon it over a span of two days so it didn't really drag out for me, but I would probably dislike this show more if I was watching it week by week.

My definition of art is nonsensically broad so yes

Though personally it would be art anyway. Katawa Shoujo is one of the most 'artistic' games ever made... in that it was made purely to have a thing.

Is Katawa Shoujo a good VN? I hear people mention it every now and then.

before I left, people were posting porn including loli dickgirls and such
but i mean, at least they stand on 2 feet... or something

My interest/apprehension towards AnimeGAF IRC just doubled.

I should really go in a for a peek some day.

I don't know how it compares to other VNs since I've only played Katawa and Saya no Uta, but I found it to be a really enjoyable read. Some of the paths are meh and some of them are excellent. The music is godly, though, and really helps carry some of the weaker parts in the writing.

If you've got any interest in it, I'd check it out. It's free, after all.

Rin is best girl. Baconface is terribad.

I have been watching some Japanese MAD sakuga videos and I have come to the realization that I care more about the music used in the videos than the actual content.

Just wish more people bothered naming the songs used.

Tomodachi wa Mahou
Kore wa Zombie Desu ka S1 11

Meh this was stupid. I'm glad that entire arc was over, totally over the top on completely pointless melodrama and pretty much everybody outside of Haruna was terrible. The resolution to the whole thing was a huh that was it type of thing.

Zombie 12

Idol episode! I guess they just needed some crap to finish up the season but this was a decent way to wrap it up especially that awful last half of the season (and suddenly itsy bitsy bikinis)

Haruna is loev.

Show started off pretty strong, the first two episodes were the best but the whole first half was fine. Then Tomonori showed up, the show devolves into the same old generic boring harem crap, the main villain was zzz and it just turned into crap thanks to both of them.

Guess I'll check out S2. They thankfully phased Tomonori out towards the very end of S1.

Definitely buying. I love NISA boxsets.

NISA packaging is always so nice. I kind of regret selling my box sets, they were both really attractive and really sturdy.

It kind of feels like NISA is dragging their feet on Nichibros compared to AnoHana and Usagi Drop, which were announced later. Have they not released packaging images for that yet?

Yeah I've got several NISA sets now. Great company. Hopefully they fixed the early snafus.

Yo Brazil, about R2,

Is this weekend good?

Also, who else wanted to watch again? lol

Ill be off Sunday through wednesday. If yall watch stuff in that timeframe I can join you.
I left off on R2 episode 7.

Fate Zero box price isnt too big of a deal.

its not as bad as you think. Cuilan posts the nsfw links mostly but its normally just like in this thread, only a bit more unencumbered.

The Light of El Cantare
Sailor Moon S 90:

7sVN7.jpg

something something Fate something

At last, I've finally made it to the vaunted third season of Sailor Moon as I delve ever-deeper into the primordial ooze from which Utena and Penguindrum would eventually emerge. I expect great things from the next fifty or so episodes, though I can't guarantee a quick marathon unless the material really grabs me.

First, let's get this out of the way:

WAT

I feel bad posting this because this kind of Easter Egg should be the type of thing that people experience the amazement of finding on their own, but this is too hilarious not to share. Magical. Hype for this season x100000.

This episode was generally in line with previous Sailor Moon season openers, combining a little casual interaction between the girls with an introductory enemy. The fight itself was nothing particularly special, but the fact that this season's MotWs can apparently use human speech intrigues me. I'll try not to complain too much about
the Senshi getting taken out by a random minion after just defeating Wiseman
, I understand that this is how it has to be considering that Sailor Moon basically gets a yearly refresh. I'm weird and prefer standalone episodes to the dramatic end-of-arc stuff anyway, though this may change depending on the quality of writing in S!

Sailor Moon S 91:

yIM10.jpg

KASHIRA KASHIRA GOZONJI KASHIRA

Usagi
gets her seasonal PAWAAAAAAAAAA AAAPUUUUUUUUU
.
The new transformation sequence is fantastic as is the crazy triple-quadruple-octuple-axel-lutz she does for the new rod thingamajig. I can definitely handle a whole season of this
.

ihMQm.jpg

Mamoru tires of your genkiness.

Can't comment much on the plot yet; it was the same as the previous episode save for the usual interchangeable plot dressing used to differentiate characters introduced in standalone episodes. At least the enemies are slightly more interesting.

Sailor Moon S 92:

I noticed that
Sailor Uranus and Neptune
were edited into the credits this episode. As gobsmacked as I am to see Toei actually attempt to avoid spoilers in any fashion, it was still an episode too soon!

This episode had some amazing Usagi-Minako interaction. Poor Minako is by far the most underutilized of the main cast, so any episode that gives her more than one or two lines is a precious commodity. I still have a difficult time understanding what defines her character, and this episode basically turned her into a second Usagi. It worked, though; no complaints here.

jlIPq.jpg

DESTINY, YAEY!

While
falling for Ackbar/Reverse Ackbar
plots are nothing new, this one was at least entertaining due to the nonstop comedy.
Haruka being a female with an interest in professional racing
is actually really really cool, and I'm interested to see how the
Uranus/Neptune
plotline develops. The first two seasons were simple good vs. evil stories, however with a third neutral party in the mix this time there should hopefully be a little more complexity to the plot.

MotW was laughably bizarre.
Cleavage windshield? Vocalizing vroooom vroooom noises? This is awesome.
Haruka
must be 0.00001% to be able to just
crash super-expensive motorcycles into enemies like nothing
, heheh.
