Mawaru Penguindrum Episode 2
That Survival Strategy happened way earlier than I expected. Overall, I got a few laughs out of the episode but I think I enjoyed Episode 1 a tiny bit more. It was nice to see #1 and #2 get a lot of screentime. But let's get serious here,they introduce a character who "probably" has the Penguin Drum, who at first seemed like the courageous and mysterious chick that usually shows up in media. But then during the same episode she's introduced, it turns out she stalks Kanba and Shoma's homeroom teacher and is totally creepy?
I can already tell I'm going all the way to the end with this.
Its fabulous as fuck and very memorable.

This was kind of fun. The gags were all right, and apparently there will be more serious challenges in the future. Guess I'll stick with it for a while.

I think I remember this story taking up multiple chapters of manga material. Bodes well for pacing, bodes poorly for filler.

Magic circles aren't as prominent as the series goes on. That or you get used to them to the point they become second nature.
Actually, amazingly the anime has been pretty good at adapting the manga at a steady pace. To this date there has only been two filler arcs and one of them is what the anime is currently on.
She does try too hard but she is also is pretty awesome if you look at her capabilities and accomplishments. Applejack has nothing really other than her boring personality. Sonic Rainboom automatically puts her over Applejack.

lol warned you about those magic circles! But they really add on later once the bigger skills get going. Oh also be wary of the reused animations for Dragonslayer magic, but I think as the show got more popular they increased the budget so much of the stuff increased visually swiftly. Filler has been few, they really caught up to the manga fast.

Yeah, the magic circles aren't terribly distracting, they're just kind of garish and cheap-looking. It's a really minor complaint.
Only two filler arcs? I can live with that.
Yeah, it seems like they're going to have to create new stock animations on a regular basis, so we'll at least eventually get more variation even if we don't always get high quality. I just hope that magic isn't always represented as shimmery neon auras.
I always secretly wished that Erza was the protagonist instead of Natsu so that we could have transformation sequences and have the entire thing basically be an incredibly shounen mahou shoujo, hah.
I think that something about Fairy Tail just happened to appeal to her shounen instincts. Lots of episodes + tough-looking teenage protagonist + series synopsis is probably enough to do that.

Hmmm... I guess One Piece is the top anime/manga in japan for a reason. If you can handle the less than speedy pace, it's well worth it.
She's actually seen them both, along with some other mainstream stuff that doesn't necessarily count as shounen. I'm thinking of using Tiger and Bunny to get her back into season-format anime because, well, it's a proven hit with the ladies. Maybe I'll secretly make a MAL for her so you guys can provide more recommendations. She has incredibly specific taste.
