Pretty much anything that ever aired on adult swim she liked, plus a few series like Mononoke, Beck, Monster, Darker than Black, Gundam SEED, and Soul Eater.

She generally prefers action, sci-fi, and psychological but there are a few exceptions, and generally detests fanservice in any form even when it's not central to the show (which makes it a miracle that I got her to like some Gainax stuff). Out of series from the past couple of years I've been thinking of suggesting Tiger and Bunny, Steins;Gate, Sengoku Basara, and Fate/Zero, and I'm going to try to get her to watch Apollon and E7AO week to week (yeah, yeah, I know; but she's just a casual fan and will probably love AO.)

She may never fully share my taste but I do want to introduce her to things that I think will get her interested in anime again.
Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom might be a good one. I haven't gotten very far into it, but from what I've seen it feels like the lovechild of Monster and Darker than Black.

There's are a bunch of Ghost in the Shells on Netflix Instant, which ones are the ones to watch and which ones to avoid?

Ghost in the Shell (1995)
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (2002)
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (2005)
Ghost in the Shell: 2nd Gig: Individual 11 (2006)
Ghost in the Shell 2.0 (1995)

I recommend you watch GITS 2.0

Just kidding. SAC 02/05 is what you want to watch. Skip everything else.

I for one am shocked to discover that SHAFT likes otaku money.

The real surprise will be when they announce Soredemo 2.

Yeah, Shinbo had talked about wanting to do them before, but at least now we have an official statement from Aniplex and Shaft about it.
For sure.
Hopefully his later novels aren't a total beat around the bush wankfest like nise.

Well, my favorite character gets turned into a
yan
dere. I only like her because of the later stuff though, not what's been in the anime so far, but we'll get to see that it seems. Also Hanekawa becomes even more awesome and I like her changes that eventually will happen.

Let's see how much of a budget they have. Jesus this seems like a very solid A team they have.

Well I wouldn't go that. They're all staff who have worked on competently made projects, which is more than I can say for most DEEN shows.

I come into this thread and read wrong opinions.

The most boring pony is Applejack. Twilight is the second worst pony.

Fluttershy>Rarity=Pinky Pie>Rainbow Dash>Twlight> Applejack
Twilight is a nicer Daria, and that makes her the best.

Twilight > Pinkie Pie > Rarity > Rainbow Dash > Fluttershy > Applejack

Wait, looking at that list, are we going to have at least 10 more seasons/movies of the Monogatari series?

I'm not sure how I feel about that.

It's that simple.

Proper AJ placement in the lists makes me proud.
Also I may have had an epiphany about NTHT while thinking about it at work today that might change how I view the show. If so, I'll explain at the end. if not, the secret dies with me!

Meh, the Lupin OP seemed like a transparently pretentious attempt at depth to me. None of that nonsense actually applied to the characters in the show. Which is fine if you like that sort of thing, but let's not pretend there was some kind of secret thematic depth present.

There was that kind of feeling to it, I must admit, especially as it hits you right at the start with no warm up. They go from cold to that.

Ore no imouto ga konna ni kawaii wake ga nai 1-15

The title is actually fairly descriptive, because Kirino really isn't cute and I can only imagine it would take a heavy interest in BDSM to think otherwise. She really drained all the patience I had for tsun acts, and now I'd much rather see people who insist on being so fucking insecure they cannot let go no matter what rot in their own self-inflicted loneliness and misery. Maybe I shouldn't be so harsh. Maybe it should be treated like a condition similar to autism, but then at least everyone can acknowledge there's a problem. All our male lead would do is enable her. Despite giving so many jdrama-style impassioned speeches to other people, I'd love if he'd just say, "if this is how you insist on treating me then you can go to hell". Of couse, that would require him to have actual sense, something he frequently proves he lacks in a variety of scenarios including getting freaked out over something being on his laptop screen when all he had to do was close the fucking lid.

Overall, though, it was pretty much Genshiken updated to reflect current otaku trends, including being structured more like Haruhi with some Freudian subtext thrown in for... fun, I guess. Actual Genshiken-style nerds-being-nerds scenes worked fairly well, and the chemistry and exchanges between Kirino and Kuroneko was frequently amusing if not disturbingly familiar. I find it amusing how Saori is introduced as maintaining this moderately sized club only for her to throw all of them under the bus after she meets Kirino. Oh well, I guess that's just one of the pleasures of
being a 1% in disguise
. Genshiken still remains the better show because it isn't saddled with all the bullshit found here.
Some how I missed this whole page. Bravo.

I liked Bakemono alot but I couldnt get excited for nise for some reason.
I did like Tsukihi Phoenix though. What a masterful OP.
The actual character seems kind of meh.

They haven't done a lot of recent late-night shows that people here would pay attention to, but TMS Entertainment is one of the oldest stalwarts of the anime industry, founded in 1964. They've animated the entire Lupin III franchise, as well as Detective Conan and a bunch of other stuff.

They were just resting in preparation for their glorious return to form!

I'm pretty surprised of how active this thread is; didn't know Gaf liked anime this much.

Anyway, I'm amazed at how much Oreimo entertains me, basically nothing happens in some episodes, like the one when Kuroneko's just doing regular things around her house and Kirino spends the day playing her new Eroge; but I just breeze through them and end up strangely amused.

It's really just the work of a limited number of miscreants, actually.

Move aside Marika, Captain Liliana has come!

This was good. Lots of fanservice, ranging from dresses that become transparent during a fight:
to bouncing boobs in full exposure, some action and a few returning characters. I'm a little confused about a couple things though, like why Ymir would be serving the Queen instead of trying to sell her wares, but maybe I should have watched those two OVA prequels.
I guess that princess knight will be the new Reina, though I'd hope for Reina to make a comeback because I can't believe she'd stand for what Claudette goes around doing!
