What the hell? The manga sounds like a terrible exercise in bad taste by the way you guys talk.

Don't misunderstand, the manga, especially the first half or so, is reasonably enjoyable. The anime has gone in a different direction with it though, and it's a much better one.

Ah, thanks. I'll be keeping an eye on this guy from now on.

That's good to know. Are there any parts that are changed dramatically to fit in the adaptation?

Nothing too big has been changed, but there's been plenty of smaller changes, the MC is less annoying in the anime, since he doesn't wear a stupid cat expression on his face all the time, unlike the manga, and
babu's death
had a one sentence mention in the manga, while it was expanded quite a bit in the anime. And the sections in the second episode
of Rea and her father weren't in the manga at all, I believe.
The tone of the manga focuses more on comedy than the anime has so far, as well.

Ginga e Kickoff! 01

They are playing football! And it doesn't look like shit!! It even has a main character named Erika who is all about girl power! It's not like The Knight in the Area where I was expecting some nice-looking matches with decent animation but got cardboard-cutout shit. I didn't care for the melodrama, nor the cast full of dipshits (Seven aside). I just wanted football, and that didn't deliver.

Then I went on to this. The football animu of my dreams.

Huh. I'm going to have to watch this.

That's crayzy awesome. I ink you should get kraken on watching this ASAP
de geso

Yep, I'll be watching this (again) in short order! :D

To commemorate this, here is an excerpt from Hisako Kanemoto's Ika Musume radio show wherein she attempts to complete two user-submitted tounge-twister challenges.

They sure are trying to sell those BD's. Watching the first episode of Yami makes it even harder for me to come to terms with the fact that DEEN did this. My god.
That dad's really fucked up.

Whoa, I didn't know this was getting a BD release! Does it include the Mini-Ika specials?

Yep, this is turning out to be a pretty strong show. Totally has those Shaft touches too, including those growing irises in super close ups in the place of fan service. Even wading into potentially dangerous territory everything here is handled in a mature and respectful manner. This show is really just filled with excellent framing and scene transitions.
It's lots of just really small things that add a lot to the show, like Rea getting caught and the show cutting to Babu's grave.

Just so you can see what I mean, the MC has this expression on practically every panel, even during the serious moments:

Memes in general are pretty pointless (unless they involve Puffins) and we're all aware that anime is neither saved nor dead because the next season will usually be completely different, regardless of how good or bad the current season is. For example, Summer looks to be a very unimpressive season.

That can't be true, since Summer has Horizon and that's enough to make Summer an impressive season!

It might be funny the first few times, but it gets old really fast. Especially
since he wears it all time, while trying to revive Babu, while thinking about Rea's fucked up life, and so on.

The MC is really an unlikeable jerk in the manga, now that I think about it.

tbqh i really don't see how anyone could like the op for yami to boushi

I like the song. As Brazil said, the animation is almost non-existent though.

The ED is so much better.

eh, I disagree. I think the OP is better than the ED.

The Light of El Cantare
Eureka Seven AO 01:

Just to echo the sentiment of everyone else, that was...........good?

I mean, sure, it has ~25 more chances to become terrible and the premise's relation to the original is still a mysterious, confusing mess, but that was a surprisingly promising first episode. Ao is likable and not overbearingly shounen, Naru isn't the generic fanservice character I feared she'd be, the set-up was clean, well-paced, and introduced several relevant factions and terms in a relatively understandable manner, there were a few terminological throwbacks to the original E7, and the entire episode was absolutely gorgeously animated. I've read everyone's speculation for the first episode and really have nothing to add, so I'll just say that I'm cautiously looking forward to next week.

It sounds like Sankarea handles the whole
abusive dad thing
far better than the manga, where it's pretty much a joke.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it a joke in the manga, but it was more about implications than being overt like in the anime. The guy is still treated like a colossal creeper, but he doesn't enter complete monster territory like he does in this (though he gets pretty close).

I'm about to lose my mind right now.

But damn at Yoshida! Put her in a dress with makeup in front of Kazehaya and she'd blow Sawako and Kurumi out of the water. The tomboy can actually be the prettiest character on the show when she wants to be. Damn!

Sawako taking a giant leap back in her relationship with Kazehaya is a huge turn off. Who just sits there and freezes at someone they just spent New Years with? At least Yano understands my pain.

Even though I hate the bitch, I'm starting to hope Kurumi comes back and does something that causes either Kazehaya or Sawako to act. Only damn character who knew what she wanted Day 1. Tch.

My older sister can't be this shounenbro chapter III:

Fairy Tail 05:

I've noticed that this show uses a lot of public domain music. This episode had something from Carmen and the can-can dance. I suppose it works, but it really adds to the already low-budget feel of the show.

Fairy Tail 06:

My sister didn't approve, but I sure did. Off to Pixiv...

I should check this out at some point before CR decides to take it down.
My impression is that it's a wacky slapstick humor kind of thing, which I don't usually care for that much (e.g. I dropped Milky Holmes after a few eps), but I might be surprised.

Tomodachi wa Mahou
Mai Ritoru Poni: Yuujou wa Mahou 19

Hoho there lover boy. Spike is clearly a bit of a player.

This is one of those episodes where you can really tell that the target audience is still 12 year old girls and not 23 year old males. Unfortunate.

Rarity being the expert dressmaker that she is needs to find all those Jems so she can play some more SFxT or make some more dresses I dunno.

Anyway
she gets kidnapped and taken hostage by David Bowie’s very own Diamond Dogs.
Now if this had been a show designed with the 23 year old male demographic in mind the events that unfolded afterwards would have been completely different than the way they played out in this episode. In the episode, Rarity
escapes out of this predicament by being the most obnoxious whiny bratty pony ever until they decide to release her.
. Had this show not been made for kids,
the Diamond Dogs would have just beat her up like a mule every time she was being disobedient and thus be able to continue collect their own gems while keeping her in line.

Episode was really a bit much in terms of how slapstick the whole thing was. Not really an enjoyable episode but I did get this out of it and all’s well that ends well.

Kinky.

I should have worded my post better. I just meant that the author didn't handle it very deftly and it came off as not so serious.

The ED is just so much more thematically consistent!

Doesn't help that the song's bad.

It's an ok slapstick comedy. Quirky and funny at first with bits of daww~ throughout. However, it recycles jokes far too much to be top-tier and it only gets worse by the second season. Still decent though.

Subete no aware
Kurumi is the only reason the show is somewhat watchable.
She's mostly a nothing character in s1 though.

Didn't you mean Kurumi? lol!
Kurumi is the "best" and Sawako is the best. Easy!

It's more "nonsense" humour than straight up slap stick.

Like, "Oh look, these humans have weird customs! Let me try to mimic them!" and so forth.

Space Brothers 2:
Another strong episode, although maybe not quite as strong as the first. It was still pretty great outside of one scene (
the phone being dropped in the toilet
) which was just stupid. Once again, they mixed the flashbacks with the present well, and we get a better idea of Mutta's character and how he pursued his dreams in the past. I also think they captured the feeling of being nervous in a job interview quite well. Very excited to see where everything goes.
