Just rewatched Full Metal panic The Second Raid and remembered the times when Kyoani used to adapt good shows and made use of their talent (damn those action scenes). Now it's about never ending moe adaptions *tears.gif*

FMP is legit, but come on. KyoAni has always made great things. That they also manage to make the shows cute as well is just icing on the cake. Besides, Tessa is super cute anyway.

Spice and Wolf heh, now that's a show where pandering is an actual problem. I can't look at Holo and see anything else but all kinds of pandering traits. I mean it already starts with this ancient wolf god turning into a young, hot quasi-furry for no discernable reason.

Since a lot of the economics theory in the show are supposedly also false, what good is there.

You are right. In japan Kawaii and Moe are 2 different things. You are a consumer of the former, while someone else here is a consumer of the latter.

I second this. Full Moon O Sagashite doesnt seem like much but it hits you with a rollercoaster of feels. Possibly one of the best at it. Then theres that music from Changin My Life. This is the epitome of an overlooked gem.

That's just a thing they're saying that doesn't mean what it sounds like. They're mostly just expressing a degree of jealousy over the things that they perceive that the other has that they don't.

The big issue I see with Yui is that Hachiman/Yukino pairing up and causing a big problem with her and Iroha makes almost too much sense given the subject matter, I just don't see it happening due to being an anime and animes never pulling the goddamn trigger on anything due to fear of fanbase backlash.

Dammit, someone just needs to post that gif.... I forgot to save the link, but it was awesome. Iroha can have almost any guy in the school , so there would be no reason to chase Hiki, however, once someone close to you does get some attention, it has a habit of changing your view of them...

Pretty much. The hype for this has surpassed anything that could every happen and so there's guaranteed to be any sort of backlash. All I'll say is that this is a pretty good adaptation of the novel and that I'm satisfied with what's been shown. I've given up hoping the fandom would see the show for what it is instead of what it isn't.

It's a shame too. Kumiko is an awesome main character and I've loved seeing her growth and how she opens up with Reina.

Reading novel 3 really cemented my love of her as a main character. She's inquisitive, but it never feels like she's the determining factor in any storyline beyond her own. She builds relationships with a lot of people and it's that which changes herself, not some kind of super-powering practice 9000. The growth of Kumiko from this "meh" kind of student into who she becomes later is a fantastic adolescent tale and it's truly a shame that the fandom has to ruin it with "KyoAnus" shit.

And I'll also confess that I had a grin on my face during the more "close" scenes with Reina/Kumiko in the novel myself. It's not like I don't understand the desire; it's just not what the story was ever about.

Another funny show with police antics is Miami Guns. The character chemistry is also pretty good but its a lot more crazy.

You know, I'm not actually going to question anything you've said in your review because it's all pretty fair. There are, however, a few things I want to bring up:

RahXephon has:

- Amazing character designs
- Awesome/weird mecha/monster designs
- Great music

None of these things makes show good, but I still feel like they need to be highlighted.

So I guess I picked another funny one off my list today because this one is pretty damn funny. The "crazy/creepy" girl is kinda cute too. The cast is definately unique and the situations the MC has to deal with are often hilarious. Hopefully, the fun continues tomorrow when I pick up more episodes. Good times here...

Uh I'd like to judge my adaptations independently from their source material.

I don't know how closely some of these scenes are adapted but there's a bunch of questionable framing and stuff going on that really simply does hint towards a more romantic relationship between Kumiko and Reina. They did that on purpose and I can't blame anyone for seeing it that way.

What I'll blame people is for focusing on this overall still hardly significant issue in an otherwise great show. The source material though shouldn't be taken into consideration at all. I usually don't want to know the source material anyways when I'm watching some adaptation and want the fresh experience.

Honestly, I really don't get your point. The western fans should take some blame for not reading Japanese fluently and they should be judging the anime based on the novels instead? No not even that, instead we're supposed to appreciate the apparently close adaptation...? In that case, if it's so close and true to the novels, then I can't help but feel like the novels themselves are at fault. Though I wonder how the equivalent of that shot focusing on the legs that invokes an image of the characters kissing would look like in prose.

The first novel was all about rekindling and the growth of the friendship between Kumiko and Reina juxtaposed with the run up to the Kyoto concert. It'd be a horrible adaptation if the staff didn't feature that aspect of the storyline. That doesn't mean that people should take two girls to mean "YURI YURI YURI!" despite direction showing their closeness compared to the other relationships. Kumiko is the only person we see Reina communicate with; why wouldn't she show signs of a close bond? She's the one person she told about her crush on Taki and why she went to this school, she's the one person supporting her against the rest of the band in the solo slot, and she's the one person seeking her out in that bond of friendship. Of course the previews focus on that aspect due to it being plotline B (plotline A being the band practicing/playing).

The print publications want to sell magazines, so they obviously choose layouts that's sell regardless if it fits the show or not. The promotional artwork for Shin Sekai Yori doesn't fit the show, but it's there to sell magazines. I don't see the reason to blame "KyoAni" when they're not the ones choosing those parts.

Well, if you were to set up a studio now it would make sense to be in the same area as everybody else so you can get whatever material you outsource to those other studios (the stuff that's not done overseas at least) fast.
