Hen Zemi OVA was more entertaining imo. It's been a while since I watched it, but I distinctly remember there being more boring moments in the TV series than in the OVA. Perhaps it's because of the more bite-sized nature of the OVA, meaning that its entirety is completely outrageous as opposed to just most of it like the TV series. I dunno, I'd have to watch them again to form more coherent thoughts on them.

It did lead me to make this gif though :p

yeah if i recall right the OVA was more interesting (and I think it came first) but it's been a while since I watched either. It's not a show you will forget after you watch it though lol.

Well, this surprised me a lot. The main character looks fairly interesting with some sort of vision related superpower and seems to have no moral qualms using it to get ahead. The first half of the PV has some really intriguing framing/storyboarding such as when the wet girl(?) was walking. Parts of the PV even have a horror vibe. Show also looks much higher budget-wise than I expected with good lighting in a number of sequences.

Then the fully CGI classroom smacks me straight in the fucking face.

First impression is that it looks cheap. The lighting is non-existent and the backgrounds look very basic. However the concept itself is pretty cool, we don't get many interplanetary anime anymore and there does seem to be a serious/non-highschool component to it. Hopefully this is a better version of Robotic Notes.

There are nice shots like the above but the day scenes aren't giving me high levels of confidence. Something surprising is the use of 2D mechas. Maybe I can get some mecha porn/sakuga this summer after all.

Disappearance of Yuki Nagato 13

So this universe's Yuki has returned, but I'm wondering what the fallout from this is going to be. Kyon got something of a confession, but Haruhi certainly has her feelings as well. And I wonder if the Disappearance Yuki is aware that someone else had momentarily taken over her body and got her into advanced literature. The tone of these past three episodes was very somber, silent and moody. Not a whole lot of other shows like that this season. Not a whole lot of other shows that run for 16 episodes either.

Samurai Flamenco episode 10 and 11:
Episode 10: Cool final battle, I was really worried that Flamenco Sapphire was going to die there, but she's so pure and awesome that even the villain couldn't harm her.

Episode 11: What the fuck was this? I'm not sure I like this, it's just too different too quickly. I would have appreciated the Flamengers thing being like.. a joke that took up about 5 minutes, but it was the entire damn episode and it was cringey as hell :(

Where's my Goto, where's my Flamenco Girls. :(

A show shouldn't be judged on what it's not but on what it is. Especially when it comes to shipping madness.

It doesn't work that way, and no, in this case, it isn't shipping madness. They chose to go down the of having yuri romantic overtones and it doesn't get to walk away from that.

You know, I was gonna write this off, but this trailer actually looks pretty good. I'm not that big a fan of the author's previous works, Kanon especially, but the protagonist seems fairly interesting and the apparent horror elements could be interesting if they pull it off right. This is written specifically for anime, isn't it? It isn't an adaption or anything? If so it should hopefully avoid the pitfall of not having enough time to tell the whole story, like Angel Beats suffered from.

Heh, that's a little bit of an understatement there :p

Nisekoi S2 - 12

Some nice shots and directing in this episode, that's about it.
Oh, this is all we're getting this season? Well besides the mother and teacher episodes it's been fairly meh, production being a large help in keeping me interested in watching it each week.
That kizu tho

Damn that looks gorgeous. Really looking forward to watching that show.

Visually, it's absolutely exquisite so far.

THANK
YOU

Would have been absolutely perfect if they had shown the paizuri scene as well.

Never change lol

So this is all of Nisekoi ? I kinda hoped that with 20 episodes, they would get to the Ruri arc. Do we know anything about when to expect the next parts of Monogatari ?

Nothing concrete yet. There's usually an announcement around Tanabata (July 7th), so we'll get one in about 10 days. One immensely good sign is the presence of a BD-Box for Nisemonogatari/Nekomonogatari Kuro. Aniplex of Japan only makes re-release BD-Boxes when they're planning to promote something new from that franchise, so I expect we'll hear something soon for another adaptation.

Holy crap, pretty damn intense episode that kept the battle going the entire way through. The world has so much preomise for future adaptations and I really hope they get a second season put together in the near future. It was definately a little dramatic, but it was awesome to watch play out and everyone contributed, it wasn't just a 1 man show.... awesome, awesome, awesome...

I'm actually proud of myself that I had enough self control to not post all the lewd faces the teacher made while she was getting her titties sucked.

I really wanted to post images of that OVA too. It was fucking excellent. It was some of the sexiest stuff i've seen in anime. It was absolutely incredible.

Riding Bean

This was recommended to me by Narag months ago and I thank him for that because this is the most late 80s/early 90s OVA I've seen since Mad Bull 34. Nude scenes for no reason! People getting violently killed for no reason! Burgers! Child violence! Lots and lots of child violence! The MC is near invincible, nigh superhuman! He throws a knife hard enough to go through a car window and rip the door off on the other side! He then sticks his hands through the door and tears it off! Then he gets shot point blank in the head and doesn't even fall over! WHAT DOES THIS GUY EAT? IS IT BURGERS?
It's actually walnuts because Bean is hard as fuck

The show looks typical of the era's OVA's, it kind of looks like Lupin or Giant Robo to me. It stands out by having some really great chase scenes that really convey the sense of speed (IT'S NO FURY ROAD THO.) I didn't know that grenades being thrown onto the car with the guy frantically throwing them all out was from this. That scene is great. It's so 80s action movie, the scene with the car flying out of the back of the semi truck made me laugh my ass off at the ridiculous nature of it. Reminds me of a Fast and the Furious movie. This being a mere 45 minute OVA from a planned TV series, it suffers in the ways you would expect. You have the cop who is after Bean because these shows have that kind of guy, but you don't know why. Bean has some kind of weakness for kids and is called a real monster but he doesn't do anything as abhorrently bad as the villain. The villain is a real piece of shit in pretty much every way and has a kid under her care who idolizes her in some kind of weird Stockholm Syndrome-esque manner, which is never really explained. It's not that big of a deal since it works fine without all that.

All in all a good and entertaining watch.

THANK

YOU

Mate you are danger close to getting Cdig'd with that kissing screenshot, it'll be a miracle if you make it through summer

I haven't seen this myself, but if you liked this enough, there's going to be a Kickstarter to give it a Blu-Ray release by the same people who did the Bubblegum Crisis and Otaku no Video Kickstarters.

I think I heard about that, but my policy for kickstarters has always been to wait and pick it up after release from good word of mouth, hasn't failed me yet.

Tuesday is going to be a very angry day.

I expect lots of this

This episode had the best twist this entire season. Holy fucking shit. Bravo.

The grandfather being Zeus all along works perfectly considering Zeus was a rapist and overall scumbag. It also explains why Bell is so ridiculously OP. It was staring us in the face the entire time.

I'm clapping like the filthy American I am.
