This was hilarious. I wonder if we would ever have a game where you have to have 1024 wins in order to get an achievement or to progress in the game. Thats what I love about Gao Mikado he can do the impossible, and thus adds
999 more wins to his record
. He is the best performing lead character in all anime.

Plotwise,
please lose, I want Death Shido to succeed
. Suzuha Amanosuzu at the chateau de la amanosuzu needs to lose.

It's the only show this season(maybe in a while?) where both the writing and production/direction nail it, go for homeruns even.

Lesbiangate is just anime fans being immature, aka non-news. :lol

If this show had actually nailed the writing then it would have found a good way out of that yuri hole it crawled into.

As much as I don't want to admit it, having to wait this long for SNAFU subs is killing me. Soon I need to go to bed, and I bet it still won't be up :(

I see you have a Kingdom Hearts avatar, you must be a fan like me. This series has one of my favorite OST and Opening song.

Man I can't wait till Kingdom Hearts 3. It would definitely be cool if it had an anime.

Not really.

Cool opinion

Lesbiangate was something that KyoAni drummed up itself.

I won't deny that they tossed out some red meat and the fans bit... except the red meat was two girls having flirty chemistry and now the expectation is something close to scissoring. Immature fans is a pretty accurate description to me.

If that's all you can think about when watching the show, I guess so! There happens to be tons of actually good characterization, dialogue, and painstaking attention to band life, learning instruments, and growing up/finding internal motivation that has nothing to do with that though. It was there before Reina and Kumiko stared into each others eyes a few times and said some suggestive lines and unsuprisingly, it's there after.

If lesbiangate is all you can get out of the show, I guess we all know what you were really there for.

Uhhh. No. nobody implied that was the lengths it would go. They just rooted for a yuri pairing. A kiss at most. Or a full confession.

Want me to be honest? Only KH game I played was 358 but I have always wanted to play them all, just never really had the time. Since this Summer might very well be my last long break for a while I decided to play them all. I am playing through the first game and clunkiness aside I'm loving the story.

And I bet you are talking about these two:
Dearly Beloved (Final Mix Version)
Simple and Clean Remix

Shit's on point.

Yeah it's what everyone has told me. To bear with 1.5 for the story only. As preparation for the awesomeness that is 2.5 aha. As much as I'd love to go right into it since I already have it I want to actually try and make sense of the story.

OK, to clarify I wasn't speaking literally. I'm saying that there is an intense desire for them to confirm some sort of relationship and that's more important than... well, the rest of the show. It was hyperbole to express how ridiculous it got.

Vividred Operation

This is seriously one of the all time best things I have EVER watched. Quite simply beautiful and amazing with great ecchi scenes and just everything! I freaking love Vividred Operation.

Vividred Operation is about 4
5 really
girls, Akane, Himiwari, Aoi and Saegusa Wakabe who become these amazing super hero girls with the power of the Palette suit. Created by Akane's grandfather Kenjirou Isshiki, Akane is the catalyst to the entire creation and operation of this suit. Through the power of friendship, she allows Aoi, Saugusa and Himawari to also gain the powers of the Palette suit. The henshin scenes in Vividred Operation are incredible, I should honestly make some gifs of the SFW ones because they're drop dead gorgeous and sexy; especially the Vivid henshin scenes which are astonishing.

The story for Vividred Operation is rather simple, living in an idyllic world where energy and power is essentially free through a rather large and powerful machine named the Incarnate Engine (95% of the worlds energy is created from this device, also created by Kenjirou Isshiki), enemies named Alone are trying to destroy this Incarnate Engine. The reason why, we don't know, the person behind it, we also don't know. What we do know is that they must be stopped at all costs for the destruction of the Incarnate Engine would be the end of this idyllic world.

There are so many things about Vividred Operation that I could label as "best things" because I like it so much: the transformation scenes, the ecchi and nude scenes, the action scenes, the friendship theme, the absolutely eye popping art style and colors, but these are all obvious things, the biggest surprise was about Rae-chan, the 5th girl of the show who was doing things her own way for her own reasons.
As we learned more about her, I thought for the longest time that her "world" was her family and things of that nature, but when we learn she comes from a freaking parallel world because her "world" was destroyed, I was absolutely stunned. I didn't see that twist come at all and it was just wild to think Rae-chan would be involved in something so serious. Destroying the Incarnate Engine to restore her world, but being played by "them" and the Speaker from the get-go, ridiculous. The whole "them" situation is wild too, using Alones as tests to see if a world deserves to use an Incarnate Engine. The crow/speaker was hell bent and crazy too, I can't believe she ate Rae in the scene and then transformed to be this huge monster.

The girls in Vividred Operation are so incredibly cute and beautiful and gorgeous and even sexy, they're so pretty. The girls alone are all you need, to watch this anime. The henshin (transformation) scenes are all really really pretty and my goodness, the ecchi is so good. Akane holds the group together, being just all out eccentric, happy, cute and always never giving up (her seiyuu is incredibly cute too, I love the "hehe's" that she does, makes me giggle hearing that). Aoi-chan is really pretty, I love her blue eyes and accents; she has a really nice personality, always being extra polite and sincere, impossible to not like her. Saegusa is really cool too, she's strong and powerful, always wanting to get stronger and with the help of Akane, really understand what it means to be strong; she also loves really cute things like Akane's younger sister Momo and Himawari. Himawari is a super genius, mega cutie with the shyest and most reserved/timid personality out of the girls, she talks in a nigh on monotone voice, but can show her emotions when there are reasons for it. I love all the girls so much and think they're absolutely incredible.
Rae is a bit of an odd ball since she's a pseudo-antagonist for most of the season, but she's a very sweet girl who is very nice and cares about people, she just closes herself off from the world because of her mission. In the end, I really did end up liking Rae-chan, I think she was able to overcome her issues and friendship prevailed in the end, a really sweet ending was involved with her.

I shouldn't just focus on the girls alone, Akane's grandfather, Kenjirou is really cool and when he becomes
a stuffed animal that looks like an otter
was really funny. The
otter
is really well animated and I love the
teeth
and all the ridiculous faces he can pull off, so funny.

Focusing on the art style for Vividred, it's one of the best looking anime I have ever seen, the colors are so unbelievably vibrant and eye explodingly good, everyone looks great and the detail when shown is just outstanding. On visual eye candy alone, Vividred Operation surprised me so much, with my eyes opening extra wide to take in all the visual feedback that I was witnessing. Every attack the girls did, all the explosions, all the trails, all the beams and seriously, just everything in Vividred Operation looks good, fantastic, just absolutely amazing. I'll go as far to say that the CG used in Vividred Operation looked really really good too and blended really well with the hand drawn art.

Sound design and music is unbelievably good in Vividred Operation too, all the sounds sound so good and the music, wow did they nail the action music and the heartfelt music and everything. The OP and ED's used, I can't fault it at all. Just the general music and BGM used is fantastic, honestly just really good stuff.

Even knowing that this show is poorly rated because it's a focus on fan-service and most people don't like that, or the story makes zero sense at all and people feel like the pacing and motivations for everything is just whack, but I can't help but feel so in love with Vividred Operation. I teared up many times, the theme of friendship, as cliché and overused as it can be, still touches me dearly and seeing the girls go through their hardships was just enough to make me tear up; heck the last 2 episodes really brought on the watery eyes and tears fell at the absolute ending of the season.

I feel so happy today, that honestly, I don't have any faults with this show at all, not with the animation, not with the sound, not with the art-style, not with the story or it's pace, and I most definitely don't have an issue with the ecchi shown, I freaking love it!! <3

I'm currently playing Tales of Hearts R which so far is a pretty bad anime story but I'm a sucker for any Tales game combat. I guess I must be a mashocist for playing any Tales game.

I don't know how you wrote anything about Vividred without using the word "butts" but you pulled it off. Now go watch Strike Witches where the mind of two butt lovers' (one of them being Vividred director/character designer Takamura-sama!) desires clash into the best thing.

time to read danmachi

Gonna try my hardest not to read this or SNAFU. I want to have virgin eyes when the next seasons drop.

Man it's gonna be a great ride when you reach that segment of the story.
I find it funny how what put me off was the Disney stuff, I thought the game would be for little kids and just never played the series. I'm loving the stuff so far and haven't found the game childish at all. If anything I find it to be way too complicated for a kid to understand. From what I have been told, 2 takes things even further since the Disney side isn't as much of a focus.

The fights at the Colosseum are worth it as well, IMO. Some of the FF cast are pretty awesome to fight against if you have any fansquee toward them. Sephiroth is legit bad ass.

Let me get to the core of the matter, is there a good reason, shit, is there an actual reason why Reina and Kumiko should not hook up and be happy with each other? I mean a reason within the confines of the story and not the more metatextual Koyto Animation will not do it because of reasons, very unfortunate reasons for the looks of things.

Honestly, I don't know what words I can use without getting banned or warnings or anything like that. I wanted to gif so many scenes but it's NSFW and all that =(. The ecchi in Vividred is fantastic and all the hot pants shots are just incredible.

I sort of forget to include what I thought about the ecchi too, the outlines and everything, hehehe. I did love it all though, ecchi is the reason that I wanted to watch it in the first place.

You can say almost anything when talking about a show. Don't post sexual pictures and you're good.

That's neat.

Well if your ending is going to space in a industrial age era series, then you know something is hugely wrong with the writing

A) You're confusing FMA 03 with FMA Brotherhood (the more manga-faithful adaptation)

B)
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is created/written by Hirohiko Araki. Full Metal Alchemist was created/written by Hiromu Arakawa. These people have fucking names, they aren't nameless mass of "the writers". USE THEIR NAMES!

Sasuga Erina-sama.

It's never a dull moment when she just can't deal with Soma.

Props to her for making one of my favorite dishes.

Actually got me to drive to the nearest store and collect all the ingredients for breakfast.

Again.

The biggest thing I hate about food porn is when they make eggs look good.

Because I still won't bother trying it.

True that yurifish took the bait and ran with it, but KyoAni was baiting the hook extremely heavily. Some of that dialogue and body language screamed out one thing while the show insisted on something else. It was very confusing and aggravating to fans.

Extollere would be so proud.
Vividred is quite enjoyable. It felt a like like Nanoha sometimes during battles and transformation and the animation was pretty good. Great character designs and fun times all around. I miss it.
It also only came out on DVD. What the hell Aniplex?

How about 'neither character seems interested in hooking up'? I mean, for all I know this could change in a few episodes, but it's clear right now that Kumiko herself associates her feelings for Reina with that of admiration rather than romance, and Reina has her own crush (that she doesn't even plan to pursue). They have chemistry, but before that they both have(pretty well-explored) characters that haven't actually considered each other in a romantic light.

I get why there's this whole "NOW KISS" sentiment for them, but to me it's just kind of tiresome. I think it should be possible to present relationships like this without the expected/inevitable conclusion being a confession/etc. I think dimb made a pretty accurate post on the matter a few dozen pages ago.

Lesbiangate was drummed up by idiots.

Pretty much.

I think the biggest thing to realize is that you're ultimately watching anime, something that usually has these hooks anyway before something happens and makes you look stupid. Almost always. Does it suck that it's fake lesbians? Sure why not.

That's why you have fanart..... if fanartists liked the product enough.

Kekkai Sensen 10-11

The tenth episode was fairly enjoyable, elevated by a comedic tone that was quite refreshing, even if it wasn’t entirely effective. A more varied approach to the comedy would have been ideal, as the premise became a bit one-note and repetitive. Having said that, the sharp pacing prevented the occasionally stale humor from diminishing the quality of the episode. Of course, with only two episodes remaining, I was expecting and would have likely preferred a more eventful episode; one that attempted to, at the very least, begin weaving the dual narratives into a more focused and compelling whole.

My favorite moment in this episode was
Black gleefully killing the two monsters and White confronting Leo
. The interspersed dialogue that told of the
two casters that died and their surviving children
cleverly accentuated the tragic nature of Black and White’s existence and how time has disillusioned them so profoundly. The melancholic atmosphere throughout this conclusion served as a very effective dichotomy to the lighthearted tone that had preceded it, buoyed ever further by the mournful violin that accompanied the sequence.

The dynamic focused on throughout the episode was quite amusing, though the resultant humor wasn’t as strong as that found in the interactions between Chain and Zapp, which consistently features some excellent banter. Thankfully, their hapless search for a place to eat emphasized some of the best qualities of their personalities. Zed, in particular, though dull in his introductory episode, worked well as a contrast to Zapp’s zany tendencies.

The eleventh episode was, surprisingly, a slightly weaker episode than the tenth, serving as a moderately compelling, yet poorly paced, crescendo to the evolution of Black and White’s tortured dynamic. Though a heavier focus on White and Black’s personal narrative was long-overdue, the handling of this material has been somewhat disappointing. As such, the continual absence of Libra in the development of White and Black’s storyline has created a narrative that feels fractured; each half wholly detached from the other. Ideally, Libra and the anime original material would have been woven together in a more naturalistic fashion, rather than Leo existing as the sole common denominator between the two halves. Instead, what’s left is some rather flawed storytelling, as the inability to properly balance the disparate threads is indicative of the mediocre execution that has commonly existed throughout the series.

The focus of this episode strengthened the complexity of
White’s decision to betray Leo
, while also emphasizing the misfortune that has plagued Mary and William for so long, but the backstory was occasionally dull and increasingly repetitious, excessively relying on uninteresting exposition. The further illumination of their past was a refreshing bit of storytelling, but it could have been told in a more succinct fashion. If this vignette had simply been shortened by five or so minutes, it would have improved the pacing of this episode immensely. As with many aspects of this series, the concept is solid, but I am invariably left wanting by the execution. On the other hand, the relative tranquility of the sequence contrasted beautifully with the melancholy that permeated the end of the episode. The emotional insight, though overly dramatic in several instances, benefited the effectiveness of the events that followed.

Though needlessly weakened by predictably disjointed direction,
Black shooting White in the cathedral
was the most compelling moment of the episode, elevated by the suitably desolate imagery. I’m assuming
White has legitimately died
, since it seems likely that the
barrier surrounding her heart was the only thing sustaining her life
, which, perhaps, is reinforced by the moments
she referred to herself as a ghost earlier in the series
. Femt’s fleeting appearance toward the end of the episode was nice, since it indicates that he could potentially play a larger role in the final episode. The reminder that Leo does, in fact, have a sister that is supposedly significant following the ED was quite amusing, considering how utterly tangential she has been since the first episode.

White was excellent in this episode, remaining, by far, the strongest character, as she possesses a sympathetic and relatively complex characterization that elevates her, and the focus afforded her, beyond all other elements within the story. Black is, due to his circumstances, an intriguing character as well, but the “King of Despair” persona is fairly one-dimensional, resulting in an antagonist that isn’t as well-realized as he could be. On that note, following the attacks by the separated halves of a singular Blood Breed several episodes ago, their potentially devastating presence has been seemingly forgotten. Of course, they might become more prominent in the conclusion, but their absence is a bit strange nonetheless, considering how their species was established to be a nearly unstoppable threat to the world.

Matsumoto’s direction remains strangely unspectacular, often lacking the enthralling creativity that was prominent in Kyousogiga (though, admittedly, I‘ve only seen the first episode, so perhaps that quality doesn‘t persist). Her directorial tendencies have certainly elevated the material to an extent, but never exceedingly so. Iwasaki‘s music remains superbly varied, establishing itself as the highlight of nearly every episode. Though not quite as common as they once were, the filters applied to the backgrounds, especially prevalent in scenic shots, continue to be unnecessarily garish and detrimental to the art that lies beneath. The animation, though solid, wasn’t particularly impressive in either episode. Of course, neither featured notable action sequences, so perhaps the finale will surprise in this regard.

All in all, Kekkai Sensen continues to display a mediocrity that is seemingly inescapable. Every exceptional element of the series, such as Iwasaki’s music, the typically energetic atmosphere, and the consistently sharp storyboarding, are notably diminished by the numerous flaws that have pervaded through nearly every episode. On the other hand, though I wasn‘t overly fond of the storytelling in the eleventh episode, the anime original material has been surprisingly poignant and intriguing, displaying, at the very least, a modicum of thematic import. Unfortunately, with only a single episode left, it seems impossible that the conclusion can satisfyingly weave together the myriad of narrative elements and characters that have been introduced to this point. A second season could partially remedy this flaw, but that shouldn’t be necessary. Of course, I’d greatly prefer Matsumoto to continue her directorial efforts elsewhere and hopefully with better material, but that seems exceedingly unlikely considering how strong the sales for this have been.

To be fair Sound Euphonium's original novel that the anime is based upon is still an ongoing series so perhaps the lesbian romance will become a more prominent role in the story later.

*shrugs*

The main issue that I have with it is that if you were to take these two and switch one of their genders, there would be almost no question that the two are involved romantically. Hell, even Hyouka with its fairly obvious Oreki and Chitanda pairing had less physical contact and blushing than these two. I find it insulting that the creators would go out of their way to create something that replicates romantic tension and then take it back for what appears to solely be because the two characters are the same gender. Had they simply hinted at it and left it as is, I doubt there would be as much blowback as there is now, but instead we end up with this odd sort of limbo between explicit confirmation that it's not and shouldn't be happening yet that the actions the characters take towards each other mimic those we see in other shows where we simply accept that the romance exists.
