Star Wars KOTOR 2 Gets Big Update + out on Mac & Linux

Ok after installing KOTR2 and the completion mod when I get into the prologue the camera just keeps rotating with both the controller and mouse and keyboard. The only way to stop it is if I right mouse click. Can someone please help me with this?

This game has me completely hooked now. Really enjoying playing this again, it doesn't suffer from the same (personal) problem as the first game which I've started so many times that I remember everything. And I don't even have a lightsaber yet!

Sounds like your controller is causing issues.

Use DS4Windows, sub to the PS prompts mod in the workshop

Also.
Was about to go to the last area and suddenly I'm playing HK 47 in a random building? It literally went from massive end game event to this with no context. Guess I have to finish this area to escape?
Added back into the game by TSLRCM.

Note that this area is inaccessible of you use the Super Skip Peragus mod.

Fair trade off I guess.

That section was awful. It was so difficult - and so boring - that I used cheats to get past it. It completely killed the pacing of the end game, too. Not sure why it's a default inclusion in TSLRCM whereas the droid planet is optional.

Yeah, the way it's currently designed is absurdly tedious—but it's also the main attraction of the mod. And it's worth it to hear all the fun dialogue and bring a ton of closure to the HK plot. But it is a slog, especially if you don't spec HK-47 out just right.

Exact same problem here.

Because the Droid planet is way worse. Could've done without the bad fandub and the area is littered with repetitive and long winded fetch quests. It's the only area in the game where I cheated and used fast walking cause of that one fucking corridor you have to reverse like a million times. The lore gained from the area is best just read or summarized in a video, playing that while side level was such a chore.

The biggest problem with the droid planet is that, unlike the HK factory, the game is perfectly complete without it. The puzzles on that planet, all the plot points, etc. were moved to other planets and the game is very intact without it. It's a nice little diversion for die hard fans of the game, but it is truly cut content that was meant to be cut, as opposed to "holy shit we have to release this game in two weeks" cut content.

So I think I'll install this and play the game again this weekend. Which mods are you guys referring to that complete the content? I'd like to add those in. Also tempted to skip Peragus... Hrmmmm...

Plus it's just outright terrible. My last play through died on that planet it's just that bad.

just get TSLRCM

if you get the Skip Peragus Mod, you can't acces the HK factory mentioned earlier

Why skip Peragus? It's a great level! :(

That too. It was simply never meant to be played.

Though, tbh, a lot of the restored content values restoration over... ya know, fun, which is a shame but the game is easy enough that even the slog parts (ie. the end of Nar Shadaa is soooo boring) go by pretty quick. I still love the restored content mod though.

Just got a 1.1mB patch, what was fixed? Guessing they just replaced the a file for people who had the upper/lowercase bug?

Yes.

Aha, so it is! Excellent. And yes, it looks like that does indeed fix the issue. I wiped out my steamassets/localized/english dir, downloaded the update, re-subscribed to the mod, and was able to get beyond the prologue and into the actual game!

Taking a quick closer look, the mod does still get lowercased on the first run of KOTOR2, but the file-loading code in the engine must have been updated to properly look for the lowercased version.

Thanks, Aspyr, for the patch! And once again thanks to the authors of this mod as well.

I had the same issue until I also unplugged my controller (mine is a Logitech), as I see you later did. There is a thread on the Steam forums that alerted me to the cause, although only after I tried several things like reinstalling.

Yeah, I still don't think it should've been a default inclusion, and with Steam workshop implemented, I think it could afford to be forked off. I think would've rather played the game without it and just read up on it later.

:( Too bad, but it was cut for a reason.

Urgh, tried running this on my home PC instead of my tablet and now I can start the game! Unfortunately it crashes as soon as I get control of T3-M4. :( Anyone know a fix?

Unplugged my dual shock 4 controller and it stopped. Wtf why add controller support if it breaks the game?

In other games where I've had this sort of issue it is because the game thinks there are two controllers plugged in, and using things like DS4Windows can accidently cause this. Might be worth looking into.

Got a macbook pro late 2013 version. What are my chances of running it?

Runs sims 3 really well if thats any consolation.

Not really giving us much information to go on unless you are an avid Mac user.

What is the GPU? I'm guessing Intel HD 4000. Should be fine, this is a very old game after all.

So, has Kotor 1 ever been updated? I tried to play it last year and the lack of widescreen REALLY bothered me. If not, I'll just skip it and play Kotor 2 (which I also have).

Not sure if this has been posted, but Aspyr has a place on their site for those who would like to request an iOS/Android port of KOTOR 2

Here!

Urgh, I'm so torn between playing KOTOR or KOTOR 2. I get the impression that by the time I have gone through KOTOR they would update it anyway

KOTOR 1 never received an update, there is a widescreen hack available but it involves a cracked exe and is convoluted to implement.

Hopefully Disney is hiring outside studios to update their catalog of games.

Anyone else experiencing a mostly black screen at the main menu after this update? The obsidian and lucas arts splash videos load fine and display over the full screen, but the 3rd splash screen with all the copyright info and main menu only display over the top ~15% of my monitor with the rest of the screen black. I can't select any of the options at the main menu to try and change the resolution. I didn't have any issues with the game before the workshop update, and I've tried completely reinstalling to no change. Any suggestions?

The controls are fucking garbage. Mouse does not scale 1:1 where I'm clicking in the menus, camera spins around endlessly.

Resolution is all fucked up in the cutscenes, like its all zoomed in on the upper left corner.

This shit isn't worth $5.

And there is definitely no 4K support, 1080p is the max option. Might have to ask Steam for a refund.

I can see resolutions above 1080p, but not above my monitor's max.

Yeah so on my MBPR I can see higher resolutions, I guess I'll be playing this on that.

Must not like my GTX 970 and Samsung U28D590 4K combo for some reason.

Make sure you have scaled DPI (or some such compatibility option) is disabled. Right click the exe and hit properties to make sure.
