Huttball has potential to be one of the best BGs ever made. I want to see it with coordinated teams.

Speaking of, is there any balancing for Warzones, or does it just get whoever is available to join? In one match I joined my team was pretty stacked with level 17s+ and the other team was mostly lowly level 11s and 12s.

No joke, I like how DCUO handles some things like equipment look, colors, and achievements. While achievements were a grind they did more than just give you a neat little trophy, they actually were the main party of increasing your stats passed level cap.

Though I'm not sure if other MMOs have done similar things.

I only played DCUO during beta, and I dont remember exactly how the equipment worked...but are you referring to MMOs having cosmetic appearances for gear? I think most MMOs do support this. I know LOTRO has a pretty robust version where you have multiple cosmetic tabs that you could switch to on the fly. I believe Age of Conan also has a cosmetic tab, and Fallen Earth added one in recently iirc. Guild Wars 2 has a way of transferring the stats of one set of gear onto the appearance of another set of gear using transmutation stones.

Yeah pretty much, however in DCUO, whenever you acquire a piece of gear the cosmetic look of that piece is saved on your character and you can change into it at any time. Also the color scheme of your character's equipment was carried over through every piece, and you could even somewhat edit the colors of each piece of gear to your liking.

Nice to see it's in other games, it should really be a staple.

DCUO saves the visual of any piece of gear you ever got, you don't need to keep the gear, just put it on once and it's saved to your collection. You then can transform any item you wear to look like any item you have previously collected or even lock the look of certain gear down, so no matter what you equip, you always will see what you have chosen. DCUO has the most flexible of visual style selection for characters of any mmo

SWTOR has a way to add stats to most gear with modifications anyways. You can effectively make a level 10 piece of gear be as good as a level 50 one.

I've seen teams with level 10s and level 26s -_-

Was so unfair.

General Beta testers are in.

First interesting observation: Anti-Aliasing option is just gone. Don't expect it in retail release.

Second interesting observation: Twi'lek skin colors are still limited by faction like they were last build...WTF Bioware.

Oh, and yay they fixed my companions

Interesting Observation #3 Game no longer plays sound while in the background. No option to change that.

@Billy: You guys have your own special playground. :(

Hahahaha, that's pathetic. I really wish everything going forward would have fxaa as an option.

Still should leave the option in regardless, don't make me go into inis to add shit I want.

Modern MMOs in general all scale like shit, it seems. Even in WoW most of the sliders don't do jack these days. Good ol 25 FPS in Stormwind during 4.3 launch, but hey at least I had 4x AA! (oddly even changing AA does nothing to my FPS in WoW, from 0 to 8x unless I go after transparencies in the Nvidia panel)

Personally I was fine with my 2x performance during beta in SWTOR, it wasn't great but 40 to 50 average in packed up zones isn't bad for an MMO. I just wished for better options in game and less pop in

I absolutely abhor aliasing in games, especially modern stuff with small details so this really bugs me. Aliasing makes even the prettiest looking console games seem ugly to me.

Interesting Observation #4)

Print Screen screenshot function doesn't work during conversation cutscenes.

More interesting observations please. And what the fuck is going on with that build? lol - texture options screenshots please.

The textures in clothing look pretty good in those shots, Billy. Any shots of weapons? In beta, that was one of the big things that stood out to me was the crappy textures in the weapons.

Oh god, tried to launch the client for a quick screenshot of my pistol and it's downloading 12GB. WTF.

EDIT: I think I can access the general testing build now.

lol

Ugh, I'll have to wait till my friend logs on later and see if he'll let me use his account. So that I can do a lot of testing myself of the nags that bothered the crap out of me and confirm any other issues others have had.

My main character Da'ru, Jedi Sage:

This will be her look in live, even though they get her eternally surprised eyebrows last build. XD

Maybe I'm conditioned to not give a shit about AA for MMOs since WoW, but, yeah, I don't give a shit. It looked fine at whatever default settings I had.

I'm still at work and haven't been able to get on yet to see the patch for myself, but here's the big things being talked about on the tester forums:

  • Character textures in-game, outside of cutscenes, are still low-resolution.
  • Unify colors to chestpiece is still missing.
  • No new character creation options in an already limited system (of the species / gender combos I looked at)
  • Many graphical options removed, including AA and blob shadows.
  • Darth title for my Inquisitor is still bugged.
  • Missing most of my titles, particularly the ones from completing planetary storylines.
  • Helmets and hoods can still no longer be worn in conjunction with one another.
  • Many emotes are still missing animations (such as /sleep)
  • The chairs in the ship cockpit remain the only "functional" chairs I could find.
  • Human skintones haven't changed since the last build.
  • Several complexion settings have been removed for some species.
  • Still no Auction Houses on the planets, only on the Fleet.

I'm also hearing the following bugs with the patch:

  • Auction House not displaying stats on items.
  • Surnames/Legacy not working.
  • Unable to sort by what is Useable.

Those problems sound good for good fixing. Hopefully BW delivers. That texture thing better get fixed. Not going to stop me from playing but still.........

Just to comment on those two things:

Character textures are reversed. High textures = low res garbage. Low textures = high res goodness. Example I posted on the Bug forums: http://www.radiantcg.com/temp/SWTORTextureSettingsBug.jpg

Surnames/Legacy are working (at least for some) on characters who finished Act 1 after they enabled the feature. Da'ru was on Act 2 at the time so no Legacy for her.

I figure that is an obvious fix for release.

They would not dare the game out and have that not get fix. I'm sure they already have a fix, its just not as necessary to fix as some of these other issues.

Ah good to know!

The only thing on that list i REALLY want for release is AH's on all planets that are shared.

Wow. so the only people who will get decent image quality are those who have super high end rigs running 2460x1600 resolution? Not good.

Edit: fuck me about the texture bug. Please fix that bioware, im a texture whore and that will really bother me.

That's funny on those textures with the reverse options. That's good to see that the option is in and appears to look good. Some more screenshots would be nice (damn the graphics whore in me).

Switching world instances not using your teleport cooldown is amazing news at least. Co-op players and raiders will rejoice.

I'm happy, but I wonder if it will cause issues. Should have a separate 2 minute cooldown to prevent abuse.
