Still haven't got an early access code from Gamestop, I've given up at this point. I emailed Bioware support twice with the issue and they haven't got back to me yet (almost a week later.)

Awesome!

So glad I don't have to download that again. On my slooooow DSL line, it took a good 3 days. Was ridiculous.

Same.

On another note, when you click on "Security Key" in your account on the SWTOR website, it brings you to a page with options to buy an authenticator or download a mobile one for an Apple or Android device.

Hopefully they have that download live on Itunes before early access next week =D

NM my post, just checked the SWTOR forums.

"If you have played in our game testing program at any point from November 25th onwards, you will not need to re-install the game client, as you should already have the launch version installed.

To verify that you have the launch version installed, you can check for the "assets_swtor_main" version file in the following location on your computer: \Program Files (x86)\EA\BioWare\Star Wars – The Old Republic (assuming default installation). If you have that file present, you do not need to reinstall the game client."

Glad I read this post, as I thought I had to re-download it again, and was just about to uninstall my test build.

Also, does anyone know if they will be selling time cards for this? I much rather use that then have to put in my credit card info. I haven't been able to see a listing for any time cards at retailers yet.

Also, has anyone else watched the original trilogy recently? I just watched the original versions again for the first time in a couple of years. It's so weird how Boba Fett has turned into such a bad ass character when in the films he didn't really do anything that significant aside from look awesome.

Not to mention:

Pre-Ordering the Game only allows you access to the Early Game Access period and your Color Crystal. Early Game Access may be up to 7 days. The length of your Early Game Access depends on the date and order in which you redeemed your Pre-Order Code.

Are they making early access earlier?

Either that or it's a typo. 7 days though. Damn. That's a lot of early time. Perhaps with how many number of people played in weekend beta, they're putting out a couple more days early for the big rush of people wanting to play.

Sweeeeet, got the link. I preordered as soon as it was available, so I imagine I will be seeing you ladies and gents on 12/16 when I get back in town. Woot!

I preordered on Nov. 30 - any chance I'll get in before the 18th? That's when I'm going out of town :(

I didn't know about this perk for a long time, lol

Reid just twittered

Early Game Access *starts* on December 13th. Emails will be sent on the day you get access.

Yes, this is different from previously advertised. I'll post in Forums later with more details.

Someone should add that info I mentioned to the OP.

In regards to time cards, they will indeed be selling them, but the first month is free, so they'll have em out in time I'd hope.

Geez, so you'll have no way of knowing what day you'll get to play till you get the actual email? Harsh.

Seems like it. Pretty awful way to release such a highly anticipated game... 'when can I play? Oh I have to keep checking my emails...'

I put my code in about an hour after the release date/pre-order stuff was announced so should be good for the 12pm GMT launch but still... shitty way to do it.

What kind of early access system is that? "Oh sorry, only these randomly selected people get to start playing first!" "Pre-order to play 2 hours early!"

It's not randomly selected. It goes by the order you preordered. So, I preorded in July, and I would get access before someone who preordered in September.

Excited about getting access earlier but it really is wrong on Bioware's part to say early access starts the 15th and let everyone schedule time off then HAY U GET IN ON TEH 13TH!!!! This is going to throw a kink into a lot of peoples launch plans..

Bioware really has serious communication issues. Pulling this out a week in advance screws over anyone who may have took time off, people may have had plans on the 13th/14th, and even worse you have to spam your inbox every day waiting for an email? The whole play sooner based on the date you pre-ordered feels like something they wanted to do simply because it was different than what the industry norm is. Should have been the standard all preorders start on the same day system, I've never seen an MMO since WoW unable to handle the load and there's been multiple MMOs that launched with over 1 million people within the first week.

It's not random at all. It goes by the order of when you pre-ordered. If you pre-ordered day one, you will most likely get in early access the first day. They haven't posted anything about the specifics yet, but they said they will soon.

Well it's not random, it's supposed to be based on when you pre-ordered. I don't like it personally and hope that they try to just stagger it throughout the 15th rather than making some people wait days to play. I'm sure I won't be in the first day myself (Ordered on the 29th).

This is going to sound batshit crazy, but guess what? You don't HAVE to play on the 13th and 14th!

Whoa

Did I just blow your mind?

You people are completely ridiculous.

I agree with you, but some people would rather nobody gets to play than the thought that somebody else is playing when they aren't.

Maybe you're new to the MMO space, but every second counts at launch. With these style of MMOs it's completely cut-throat and any time not in the game gives everyone else an advantage, particularly in PvP and the economy. Since this isn't a skill based game, time is everything. Also, you want to get as far away from the starting areas otherwise you're going to be bogged down by tons of people.

Fair and equal starting times is important in an MMO, since for many people it's a race to the level cap and the best gear. Someone with a head start at launch is also going to have an enormous advantage when it comes to the economy.

I don't personally care all that much since I'm not very invested in the game, but I do find it completely ridiculous.

By the way there is no grace period. If you don't have you serial key on the 20th you won't be able to play until you get it.

Also ridiculous...

This is sounding like amateur hour to me.

I ordered mine on Futureshop and I'm sure I won't be getting it on the 20th.

We've known about there being early access for months. We didn't know how long it would be but we've always known those who pre-order first get into the game first.

That is incredibly stupid considering how shitty Royal Mail can be in the weeks leading up to christmas :/

LOL! Wow Bioware....not one single MMO has done this that I can even think of, EVERY damn MMO has a grace period of at least 5 days. Some people won't be getting the game till the 22nd. Clusterfuck.

It appears some retailers are going to start shipping the game before the 20th because of the large amount of preorders so you may have game in hand before the 20th. Street date isn't really as important with a MMO.

No grace period? I could have sworn the website said there was a grace period when pre-orders started. That's a huge dick move if I'm right.
