I preordered the standard edition from Amazon, with the code for the 3 day (or whenever) headstart, I'll be able to download the game client right? I don't need the disks to arrive at my door?

Yeah I'm sure they will offer the download once the 3/6 day pre-start kicks in. If not there would be a lot of pissed off people.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?

Im wondering the same thing. I contacted SWTOR support but i seems to be just a bot that auto responds to stuff.

Exact same situation.

Contacted SWTOR support, got an auto response minutes later. Then about an hour later I got a "real" reply, but it still sounded bot-ish. Told me that an account cannot have two codes attached to it.

I replied back, and said surely there is a way to REMOVE and even delete the first standard edition code, and replace it with a new CE code.

I got a response a few hours ago saying that all account info needs to be done with Origin. Guess I'll be emailing them today... but I doubt I'm gonna get much help.

VERY frustrating.

Also, since I preordered the Standard Edition from Amazon and used the early access code BEFORE preordering the CE off of Origin; the standard edition is what shows up under "my games" on the Origin app. :-/ Fail.

I got an email today about preordering the game, it says something along the lines of the first code you activate is the one that will be used.

Still not got my code from Game for the CE :(

Edit: I saw UK Zavvi have the release date down as October 7th, 7 day headstart means people playing from the 1st of October? Sounds like a good guesstimate to me.

Oh man, please teach us how to be totally bad ass like you!

Way to deflect. Pvp isn't just choosing when to flag yourself. Imagine battlefield like that or any mp game. In my opinion its boring. Saying you liked flagged pvp is cool but it isn't pvp. Every rectangle is a square but not every square is a rectangle.

Coo-cool. I'll call them immediately after the comic-con panel today.

No reason to flip my order if it's based on first-come, first-serve. But if CE gets 4 more days, then yeah, I definitely want to flip ;p

Hmm... then they should have no problem flipping it for me if I call, because what would happen if I used the SE code, but then "upgraded" to the CE at the last second? They're not just gonna forfeit my CE and say too bad.

Yup, definitely gonna have to call.

It's not PVP all the time but when people are flagged and fighting PLAYER VERSUS PLAYER that's, by definition, PVP!

Also, your analogy is ridiculous. Theres not a million other things to do in The type of MP game you mention. It's made to pit a person against another. MMOs main focus isn't PVP.

Regardless, if a person is flagged on a PVE server that effectively the same experience, perhaps even moreso considering that person can't initiate combat. Having played on both types of servers across a couple MMOs, I'd say my PVP experiences didn't come from a PVP server. To claim a PVE server can't replicate certain aspects is absurd and the holier than thou attitude you're giving off towards it is meatheaded.

For those who wish to enter the CE code but have already applied the standard edition code:

I used this information from CoilShot:
EA Games

Option 1 for Origin/Star wars old republic
I told them that I simply wanted to upgrade from the SE to the CE. He asked for my full name and my origin/TOR website login email address. He then asked for BOTH my SE code and my CE code. He informed me that he has to send this information to a superior and that I should get an email informing me that the upgrade has taken place and if there's anything I need to do on my end. It's very new so he wasn't sure if I need to do anything at all.

Wait time on the phone: less than 30 seconds.

I'll report back if I get that email.

You don't like pvp, you like duels.

Incorrect.

Edit: Ill go insofar as to say I actively dislike duels. The rock paper scissors effect that MMOs tend to fall into generally kill the fun of one on one confrontations.

Urgh, dueling... i hate it. I hated dueling in WoW, it had no "auto-refuse duels" option. Annoying and useless. Other than for RP shows. I hope TOR as an option for auto-refusing duels.
I have no high expectations for PVP in this game tough, Warzones maybe a tad better than Battlegrounds in WoW but those never feel like true PVP. I hope there will be planets that are purely dedicated to open world PVP, no quests, just conquest (add some sort system where winning battles, capturing territories is important).
Probably wishing too much.

And...
Any idea whether i can get a laptop that can play TOR (and EVE online) decently under €500?
I'm not a PC gamer really, i just play MMOs and older games.

So it looks like the sooner you pre-ordered and activated your early access code on origin the sooner you get in the early access window. Going to snag the names I want, this is my top priority!

PVP to me isn't just about the actual fight, it's about the tension that builds wondering if it will happen. Exploring somewhere and you see an enemy .. do you attack first and get the jump? Do you run? Do you try and grab whatever you're there for and leave? Will they attack you? Are they AFK?

I don't know, it added SO much when I played WoW that I couldn't imagine not playing that way now. I hated how in the first part of Aion there was little PVP and loved how War started you off early. Are there people that will run through and just kill you? Sure, but that's what I like about it, I'll get angry for a few minutes but it makes the game that much more interesting.

I honestly don't understand the "perhaps even moreso because they can't initiate combat" part ... that sounds just stupid.

I'm not a hardcore PVP'er and can't name off hardcore MMO's in my arsenal but I do know a PVE server is not the way I'd choose to play the game.

Girl took my info in, too.

Said that there is currently no way to flip them; but she would take my info and forward it to Bioware and EA higher ups, and that they'll hopefully fix the problem in the next few days.

Eh, best I can do for now.

She recommended I make a new account; but I insisted I didn't want to because:

1) All my Origin/EA games are on my first account
2) I have "street cred" on the ToR forums with my main account
3) I like my account name ;p

LOL, I love when people try to be sound intelligent and totally mess up articulating their point by getting the order of the words wrong in their "words of wisdom" and resulting in a total loss of impact. Good for a laugh though :)

How is that stupid? You just described that in one of your scenarios! Will you get jumped? Perhaps!

Anyway, this is a stupid argument. PVP is appealing for different people for different reasons and that's great. I just didnt see the point of someone chiming in on another persons opinion and effectively undermining what they had to say by being dismissive. Capiche?

Ok I ran into the same thing, save your self a lot of time and just call the number that has been posted many times in this thread. Talk to EA/Origin support they now about a few issues like this now. They will take your info and you will then get an e-mail with either a new code or telling you they fixed the old one.

I am waiting for that e-mail at this point but after talking to Amazon on the phone and in live chat I can tell you save the time and just call Origin support.

EDIT: Just make sure you have your code handy they will ask for it.

Yes it under My Games along with the other EA games I registered on Origin.

No. Your back account. When you bought it they charged your card, my question is did they refund you the money or place it back on your card?

It's not showing my digital deluxe order under my account summary or recent activity in my bank account thus far, so no charge on my card yet.

Pretty much this. It's the tension that is so fun. I had so many good fights in past MMO's, Aion especially most recently. I will admit, though, that some games don't really do it right. I liked the random PvP in WoW in the beginning, but over the years, it became less interesting as gear and skills became more powerful. At one point a few years ago, on my rogue, I could take out 90% of players before they even had a chance to attack. And on my pally, when they retardedly buffed ret for a few weeks, I would take on 3 or 4 players at once without fear. That kind of PvP is just bullshit and isnt' really fun. There should at least be a chance to win :p

Duels are just stupid, though.

Great PR/Hype move. Something to build hype on in the first second of their Comic Con panel. Physical CE will probably sell out before the day is up as well.
Yeah but it sold out like 6 hours after they announced it in email. They purposely undersourced by a crazy amount. Hype inflation is not my thing....

Is anyone planning on joining a roleplaying server? I am not a big RP-er myself, but in WoW I always chose RP realms. They seem to have friendlier, more mature players usually. Call me picky, but I also appreciate the stricter naming rules. Seeing a Sith Inquisitor called Ipwnu is so counter-immersive.

Another question btw. What are the healer classes of the Empire, operative and sorcerer?

Because you don't have a choice in the matter, it's not one of my scenarios because "will you get jumped" is also compounded by all the choices you can also make, you can't dissect each choice and have it considered separately, it's the combination.

Either way, you play your way, I play mine. I enjoy the tension and risk, you don't. I get it. I wasn't trying to undermine, I was just expressing my opinion on the matter. Unless you were talking about the way the other person responded.

A) sigh, you're putting words in my mouth. I absolutely like the tension and risk
B) yes, the other fella was being dismissive, not you.

150? Are they high? The CE should be as much as the Digital Deluxe, 80 bucks at the most. Even I'm not that much of a sucker and I love Star Wars. Standard edition for me.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!

It's due to the figure, I'd imagine. Those things are always priced too high.
