September isn't holiday either, unless they ship the game towards the end of september and release in october.

I think you misread that. I said EA revealed they plan to announce the release date in September. Not that EA plans to release the game in September. If they indeed announce the date in September, the game is pretty much guaranteed to ship in October or November.

*Edit*: While you are right about the distinction, I am pretty sure ship date means release date in this context. They are not really going to announce when stores get the game rather than when the game will be officially released.

Ship = When stores get it
Launch = When the servers go online for everyone with a copy to play with
Thanks.

I hope it release in october or that I can get in beta.. I can't wait to play!

Pardon my ignorance but what is the difference between Ship date and Launch date?
Like it sounds, ship is when it's shipped to stores. Launch is when the public has access.

You just told me why i didn't have a hurry to level up in WoW. Maybe. I like simplistic, realistic armors. Higher level armors were too flashy and ornate and big for me. I mean, i don't think the raid/high level gear didn't look cool and wouldn't make my toon look cool...

My favorite piece of armor in WoW are the blue overalls.

I tend to play on roleplaying servers and they are my usual attire when I am not out questing or doing other potential harmful activities. One of the reasons I always go for tailoring or engineering as professions in WoW is for the silly stuff you can make. The Admiral's Hat for example. Useless gearwise, but it is one of my favorite items.

Engineering is fun too with the pets you can make or Gnomish contraptions like the world enlarger. And of course a diving helmet.

I hope SW:TOR also delivers in this aspect. I want silliness in my game.

DCUO has a great system, LOTRO is similar as well. At least TOR lets you color match your armor sets and not not get stuck with clown armor. Be nice if they gave full dye control like WAR though.

WoW has needed a cosmetics system for ages but even simple things like color schemes are a reward to them. For raiding gear, Normal Mode and Heroic Mode equipment is only separated in visuals by color with no way to opt out of it. Heroic Raiding is also extremely difficult and barely anyone finishes it (less than 1%) before the next tier so basically 90% of raiders simply wind up wearing two color schemes at once. I looked absolutely ridiculous by the time Firelands came out.

It's a shame, their environment artists are great. Cataclysm specific areas and texturing are really nice looking but the hilarious awful equipment (and all pre-BC races) stick out like a sore thumb.

I don't even attribute a lot of their problems so much to laze as I do to their misguided design principles though, which always involve them spending ridiculous amounts of effort organizing and plotting and designing unique systems with what to do with the carrots rather than taking use of the very high quality content and combat system they already have.

Hopefully a couple of one-twos from this, Guild Wars, etc, can really put some fire under them and in the genre in general. It'd be nice to see real competition again.

Fuck that shit. I want star wars in my star wars. Not all that stupid shit WoW brought in but at least with Warcraft it was never serious. They've already said there won't be any easter eggs or references to real world stuff, only star wars universe references.

I want sillyness too.

My favorite thing to do is during raids or dungeons is to pop Iron Boot Flask or the one that changes you into a skeleton and that's fun as hell.

I fucked hate that some of those buffs are either:
-10 minutes with 30 minute cooldown
-break on damage

I'm sorry if that offends you but stuff like that makes it more fun when you have a whole raid full of little iron dwarves. My favorite one is the one that changes you into a Naga, but thats only 20 seconds with like a 20 minute cooldown and if you take any damage the thing ends. it blows ass, I wanna be something funny in a raid.

Such a story driven game, I would rather they not turn TOR into WoW with silly crap. Some funny good time stuff sure, but WoW went a bit too far and just walking around a town nowadays is like being at a circus.

Gungans and Ewoks.

Killing gungans and ewoks in SWG was some of the most satisfying gameplay ever

There's enough space for maneuver there. If there is an engineering class there could be Exploding Ewoks. And how about a Slave Leia costume for tailoring? Come on man, even in the original trilogy there was silliness. Han Solo had a pair of dice hanging in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon.

Whhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

In the dozens of times I've watched it, I've never noticed this. Time for another viewing.

I'm all for slave leia costumes and such but stuff like turning into a skeleton and stuff that breaks the feel of the star wars universe would be shitty.

I loved the hilarous sith moments in kotor. Force choking a dude or making a recruit attack a guard for no reason. Those were awesome.

Proof
Episode IV, 0h 50m 20s (0h 52m 42s SE)

SCENE: The scene is in the docking bay at Mos Eisley, and Chewbacca boards the Millennium Falcon.

EVENT: When Chewbacca enters the cockpit to sit down, he brushes his head on two small objects hanging from the ceiling which resemble a pair of dice. These dice are never seen again throughout the trilogy.

It's even canonical

I'm glad they aren't overdoing it with easter eggs in TOR. They flooded WoW with so much of that shit it no longer feels like it's own world but a collection of jokes and parodies.

Catalysm is a parody on quiet a lot of Stuff, especially those Indiana Jones jokes in Uldum.

But wouldn't it look weird to see any Easter Eggs in TOR from the 1000 BBY and later on? Sure, there were a lot of things shown in the KOTOR comics/games, but it's nothing compared to the EU novels.

Goddammit, now I want dice in my Fury. Bioware, I'll give you lots of virtual monies!
Hmm. I wonder why CCP doesn't sell EVE players Dice. 70 bucks for a pair of dice to your UI.
If anyone here ever meets a BW dev, please try to get him/her to add Dice for TOR

Luckily I'm broke and can only buy like 3 games :/
Better then having backlog that's so long you lose interest in playing anything :|

I'm really thinking about not playing right away, wait a bit until things settle down, maybe initial patch(es) come out, see how's the game and most importantly finish uncharted 3, bf3 and stuff that comes out then. But on the other hand I really wanna play it, for story at least lol, want to pew pew ppl with my red ligthsaber and force powers ;D

My backlog is so long I can't even see it anymore. And I get so frustrated with it that I just stop playing those games. All I've been doing the past few months is playing the first few hours of games and then never touching them again. They're just not holding my interest because as soon as I start playing one of them I want to play something else on my backlog.

Same thing, it's not that I don't like them, some of them are so fun and can complete most of these games in a day since I've got like nothing to do anyway but dunno, I always do something else. Beside games there are comics, books, tv shows, movies, aaaa :D

October: SWTOR
November: Rayman Origins and more TOR
December: More TOR/selling my body to buy the Vita.

Wish I could buy Dark Souls but I'm working a lot less hours this summer and textbooks are expensive. But I hear you can rent textbooks on Kindles now so I'll look into that.

I keep telling myself as long as I finish the witcher 2 everything else can wait. I keep thinking I need to play amnesia but after 3 hours I just felt like I was playing it for gaf bc everyone says its so great. At that point I just turned it off and haven't been back.

It is great. You need your head examined if you think otherwise.

I would say chances for that are even lower now - if there even were chances to begin with. There will be just to many pre-orders come September to allow everyone access to the beta weekends.

I said that the only people who would be in the beta are preorderers, not all preorderers are in the beta.

If i were them I wouldnt put ANY pre-orders into the beta, people who are already getting it dont need that push.

They are not going to make the beta weekends pre-order only. Especially not if the can only invite a fraction of those that pre-ordered the game. That is what I meant to say.
