You will have a chance after release if you don't get into the beta. Most MMOs release a trial about 2 - 3 months after release.
How long was it for wow? I think 2-3 months is pretty optimistic.

looking through my account, i've found that for the beta opt in i no longer have system info, just contact info complete. the system info isn't even there.

Yup, they dropped it in the last week or two.

Vanilla WoW came with trial codes, you just had to lend the person your CD's.

I remember that for the CE. Don't remember if the regular version came with trial codes.

It did, I have the original box sitting right here with the code leaflets.

I love the original WoW CE pets. You could have some dude sittin in Stormwind with the highest tier armor and some dragon mount he got by farming a boss attempting to get oohs and ahhs... all I have to do is pull out my mini-diablo pet and his epeen hopes and dreams are shattered.

Guest pass isn't the same as an open trial. When wow launched I was one of the only people I knew to get a copy. I don't remember mine coming with one either but that was years ago.

The only ones that may have been scripted are what looked like healing/reviving the NPC and the scene at the very end. Animations have come a long way during the last 12 month. You should watch some of the latest videos.

It has been almost a year since I played the game at gamescom 2010 and there seems to be a new animation for almost everything.

I was most impressed by just some of the combat moves. The spins almost look like they have weight now, it's crazy. I thought their animators were completely incapable of that.

Yeah, they really need to add some sort of random element here to change it up. We'll probably see it after launch.

They look homeless so throwing giant chunks of garbage as the consular fireball kind of makes sense to me.

Though the debris they threw should vary depending what kind of world you're on. Like the metal scrap for cities, rocks for desert, logs for forest, and turtles for water.

So am I. Remind of the Kinetic Controller from City of Heroes. Grew tired of that class because of that.

I mean the guy lift a metallic structure from within the ground, rocks all around though, where did that junk come from? It looks stupid.

Not saying the class is not fun to play, but from what little info we have, Sith Inquisitor and their lighting spells looks a lot more attractive.

Wow, some of the animation in that video is 10x better than what I've seen. Are those just scripted cinematics?

Nope. Except for one scene (the healing shield) every other scenes are actually meticulously set up and shot by our video team within the game using existing assets and combat animations.

And yeah, the game definitely still is work in progress and being polished up :).

How is the consular any different from the inquisitor. Its not like your lightning attack is dynamically created, its the exact same animation every time. Seems to be the same as the consular except you dont have people rioting in the streets.

*Just incase* The items thrown could have come from a buried ship/vehicle.

only thing that's disappointing about a mmo beta is all that work you do to level up gone when game launches...

So you want beta users to get a head-start while the rest of the world start off from scratch?

This is why I'd play a different class that's less important to me during the beta so as to not make my choice class feel like a retread at release.

Wow I thought that trailer was pretty disappointing, but I don't really know how you'd make the Consular look more exciting except perhaps to show more of the Shadow double-bladed Lightsaber actions. The Sith Inquisitor trailer was comparably more exciting.

I don't think that trailer would attract me to Consular had I not already played it for a couple months.

Hell yes. I swear I will mow down every Consular I see just so the chances of that visual travesty appearing on my monitor are significantly reduced.

People are bitching about the speeder engine, nobody's said anythingut the stream of rocks animation - where you gonna find a bunch of pebbles while indoors in a squeaky clean spaceship?

Edit: Also, anybody really bummed out that the Consular has to share a ship design with the Knight? I was really disappointed when I found that out in Beta. I was hoping for something unique like most of the rest of the classes get (Inquisitors and Warriors also share a ship).

Both animations are not that great and I hope they are still working on those two. They probably won't scare me away from playing Consular, but they certainly look pretty bad compared to the other animations I've seen.

I actually like the fact they share a ship. It's my favorite one and I am not really interested in playing Jedi Knight. Also, I find it quite fitting for both Knight and Consular.

Consular powers look appropriate but really bland. Same with the armor design and colors. This is the least interesting video I've seen. Everything still looked great just not as great as other classes.

I liked the Consular video a lot. I'd say it's the best of them even. The music is excellent, feels new but still Star Wars. Powers look a bit bland but does The Force NEED fancy effects? No. The Force Unleashed is a great Star Wars game, i really liked the way they visualised The Force there BUT i don't think TOR needs that.
I said earlier that i'd be a tank, currently it seems to me that i'm going to play Jedi Consular Shadow tank. I find saberstaff very appealing along with the role of a tank.

By the way: A possible reason to why the Jedi and Sith classes share the ship desing:
Popularity. Because lightstick wavers are going to be popular, other classes get their unique ship to make them more desirable. Maybe. And then there are appropiate lore reasons... The Defender being a Jedi Council comissioned ship and the Sith Fury being among their elite ships, naturally issues to high ranking members in their hierarchy, namely: the Sith themselves.

Oh it totally makes logical sense that the Jedi/Sith classes would share a ship, but it feels less cool when you know another class has the same ship. I'd feel the same way if the Knight and Consular shared some of the same companions. It makes that moment of getting your ship less exciting to me when you re-roll another class.

Guess I'd just have to roll a non-Jedi class, eh?

Sith Inquisitor (Assassin fits here too, madness skill tree is really front-load damage) :

Frying people with lighting coming out of your fingers. Slicing people with your lightsaber charged up with lightning. Plus your companion Khem Val is a pure brute at tanking and looks real bad ass, the guy EAT and I mean it, Jedi, He literally feed from them. How cool is that? Later on you get Xalek, this is the guy you want out for maximum DPS output.
This. Sound fun.

Not saying the Jedi Consular won't be fun to play, but for now, I can understand how and why its counterpart the Sith Inquisitor is looking at lot more attractive.

From the "Confirmed Facts" Consular thread on the official forums:
"Tank: The Shadow Advanced Class now has a skill tree that allows them to fill the role of a tank effectively, using Lightsaber defense and Force powers."

Thanks, I figured it was since the Empire 'equivalent' class seemed to indicate that. I'm really leaning towards Consular at this point, just comes down to the Sage (healing) or Shadow (tanking) advanced class.

I want to play the role that is lacking, makes it easier to group up.

So consular is either a tank or healer class (seems like a paladin type class), while jedi knight is a DD?

Jedi Knight: Guardian is DPS or Tank. Sentinel Is DPS/DPS, different styles.
Sith Warrior: Juggernaut as above, Marauder as above

Jedi Consular: Shadow is Tank or DPS, Sage is Healer or DPS
Sith Inquisitor: Assassing as above, Sorcerer as above.

Others:

Trooper: Vanguard is (ranged) tank or DPS, Commando is DPS or Healer
Bounty Hunter: Powertech as above, Mercenary as above

Smuggler: Scoundrel is DPS or Healer, Gunslinger is DPS/DPS, different styles
Imperial Agent: Operative as above, Sniper as above

EDIT: Shadow/Assassin, Scoundrel/Operative have access to proper stealth, and AFAIK, Marauder and Sentinel have limited short duration stealth. Gunslinger and Sniper don't have stealth, AFAIK.

Yeah it looks like there's no way to have a character that can perform all three roles. Once you pick the advanced class you can heal/dps, tank/dps or dps/dps.

I like this way a bit more, it's crazy when a single class can do all roles well.

Nice. I already knew that I wanted to be a Consular, but this video showed off the class pretty nicely. I have the same complaint about the force-thrown debris animation that everyone else does. A little environment-appropriate randomization would be great.

I dunno I'm ok with it. It's an MMO, every move, not just the force-throw-debris move is going to get repetitive; that's just something that is unavoidable. I mean you will be spamming your skills on 8839495339304 mobs by the time you're done with the game.

What I won't be able to stand is quest repetition or a story that is not up to the standard that KOTOR 1 and 2 have already set.
